i enjoyed this new series quite a bit. theyve certainly revived the show nicely. the season finale, the parting of the ways, was exceptional..... the shots of waves and waves of daleks invading earth from space was something whovians have been waiting decades to see.
the regeneration was well handled.. god david tennant (the new 10th doctor) looks so young. was sad to see eccelston go... he had a manic energy that not even tom baker came close to. wish he'd have stayed on longer (chris, we hardly knew ye)
the doctor is supposed to return in a special this christmas season. according to recent press releases, billie piper has been signed for the entire 2006 season (shes easy on the eyes and a very good comapnion), and the bbc have comissioned the 2006 and 2007 seasons, as well as at least one more christmas special, so we have the dotor back with us for another 2 years minumum!

If only the new series ever shows up on television here in the USA I would be happy and excited myself. Until then I am just disappointed that it is unavailable to be viewed here.

I'm looking forward to the dvd set that will be coming out late this year. Geez, I haven't even seen what the new title sequence looks like or heard the new theme arrangement, let alone seen Eccleston in action.
That box set will be damn expensive though. Don't know if it will be UK only or not.

well the title sequence shows the tardis bouncing its way down the time vortex. if you liked the 1960's theme music, you'll love this version
IT's a sign of the times when the Doctor starts to look 22 years old!
Back when Who started, trusted figures of authority were elderly people - could you imagine a new Doc as old as Hartnell (sp?)
The one thing I hate about the old DW's is the horrible music - this series isn't as bad but it still sounds like it's done on a cheap keyboard and can be a little over the top IMO. Also IMO, the music can make or break a show/movie.

well thats a matter of taste. i belive they stuck very close to the old theme for a reason. it was producer john nathan turner that changed the theme from its original version when he came on board, and many people blame jnt for running the series into the ground. also after a 15 year hiatus, the went back to a variation of the original sound, they wanted to tell the audience that this is the same show that they remember (this new series seems aimed far more at adults than kids).
by the way the original theme was created by the radiophonics workshop long before sythesizers became common. they were playing frequencies on a tone generator (i think thats the term for the machine) and couldnt hear it as it was performed, just see the waveform.

I find it hard to believe they wouldn't have connected a speaker to it. After all, the signal they sent to watch the waveform (an oscilloscope) could have been routed to a speaker also.
Sorry, I was refering to the actuall episode music rather than the theme tune - which I've always liked!
