BAR 26 06-28-2005, 10:02 PM c'mon guys I really need help for my friend!!!!!!
1Starpower 06-28-2005, 10:26 PM I'll take a stab. Check and see if the motor is getting proper air flow across it. Is the body cut out to allow air in. Does he have a LARGE air filter in front of the motor blocking it from air. Has he changed the gear ratio for more speed but still running it in a small area. Installed large tires without going down on gear ratio. Check and see if the drive train is free from binding or the brake is not draging. Is he running a high content of nitro for fuel (30%+). The temp gauge that your using is it onboard? Is so is the probe across from the exhaust port. If using the handheld you are getting a good temp shot from the glow plug itself.
Just a few things to look at but depending on your outside temp that may be a ok range. You make can check on HPI's website for thier ideal temp too.
good luck
Daniel

aljones 06-29-2005, 08:42 PM check to see if the clutch is slipping or engaging too early... that can lead to higher engines temps. Also, if he is running 20% fuel, he may want to consider switching to a fuel with 30% nitro content. The big block engines run cooler on fuel with a higher percentage of nitro.
also 250-270 may not be too high of a temp. Depending on how much fuel has been run through the engine, the temp outside, etc many engines like to run that hot. As the engine breaks in, the temps will usually drop and it will produce more power.
The only other thing is to check the engine and fuel line for air leaks. Even with rich needle settings an air leak in the carb will cause higher engine temps. Take some engine sealant and seal up the carb and pinch bolt. Hope that helps!

i moved my air filter, and cut out my rear, and front window and i do have bigger tires on but i am running 14 52 gears and has lots of power and its is running 175 180 and i would like to have it down to 130 145 at the most
any help??
dodge 07-04-2005, 11:23 AM i wass talkin to my dad and he thinks that 30% nitro would make it run hotter according to some other forums he has read, so will 30% nitro fuel make it run cooler for sure or what????
savage 14 08-29-2005, 12:19 PM found my problem thanks!!!!(changed my name dodge)
RcSideWinder 09-01-2005, 01:57 PM you think 30% nitro will cool an engine that ran on 20%?, are you insane aljones?
dodge 09-08-2005, 06:57 PM its ok found my problem 1 of the o rings on my carb had a little piece taking out of it got new ones coming (siliconed the o ring where it was bad and it worked) thanks everyone

I hope that is in degrees C and not F
Runing an engine too cold will cause excess wear, this is because the engine is designed so that everything is expanded so it has the best fit at normal operating temperatures. Really anything under 200F is too cold.
dodge 09-08-2005, 08:10 PM pat collins- your right that was a mistake, where it is 100's its supposed to be 200's thanks
patcollins 09-09-2005, 03:24 PM lol I was wondering how you got it to run at 180 even
dodge 09-25-2005, 05:49 PM lol i dont think it would
