smoking muffler..oil leaking on bottom seal ... where the top connects to the oil case...loose nut...tightened a little slowed leak...did not want to over tighten...still leaking a little ...whats next...new gasket...or professional tightening...how big is the job...please help...

the oil pan seal.....it may just take a good tightening, or a new gasket, which then the engine would have to come out, pulley's pulled, pan taken off and a new gasket installed.

to answer my own question....problem fixed...gasket on sump pump...got it fixed and a tune up and oil change...$250 ....works fine...east central minnesota....$60 hour shop rate...im happy

Damn, I need to move......I pull these engines fairly often for re-sale and they only bring 250.00 for the entire engine.....installed.
