Yesterday, when running a chkdsk on my CPU operating with Windows XP Home, the computer froze. When attempting to reboot, Windows wouldn't start. After numerous futile attempts to enter safe mode, etc., I reinstalled Windows XP. Now, when attempting to do a disk cleanup on my C drive, nothing happens. I have tried numerous tweaks to no avail.
Any ideas ?

sounds like the hard drive is housed up. try press the F8 a few times while the system is booting up. and select safe mode then run check disk. Have it so complet check so it look at the physical hard drive this will let you know if you have bad sectors o n the drive. If you do the drive is trash and you will need to get a new then reistall XP.
