Well you've raced on the "Talladega" of R/C tracks last week at Fountain so it's time to go Short-Trackin at the Pine Bowl R/C Speedway, in Nassau NY for the next stop in the WDRA Tour.

Our humble little 117 foot groove track is carved out of a Pine Tree grove and sits on an aquifer for year-round moisture from the bottom up making for great conditions all day or all night. Last year's race saw TQs being set in round 3 of heats at 3 PM !

Just as we’ve done in the past there will be a race format warm-up on Friday night, track open at 4PM with racing at 7PM ($5 per entry) with the Big Show on Sat 9 July; track opening at 8 AM, first heat at 12:00 PM.

See attachments for Race Flyer and Map for directions
Additional posting shortly will include written directions and local amenities.

NOTE: Do not attempt to use I-90 Eastbound thru the Albany area. It is closed nights and weekends for repair with a miserable city street detour that could cost you hours. Please follow the offered alternate routes to save yourself. :drunk:

I think we have different definitions of "aquifer" :D maybe different pronounciations (sp?) too ;) .

Hey Jet
How are you doing? You should get one of those new fangled GBX rides and come on down Monday nights, or better yet join us on the 9th.

Anyway, words chosen for marketing purposes as "swamp" might scare people away. LOL

Take Care

I'm VERY close to jumping head first into the late model class. Still undecided though  .

The 9th I'll be out of the country, so can't make that one.

See you soon though.

I will do it if you do, im really looking for a higher car count before i make a trip anywhere, $25 in gas is not worth running against 2 other cars.I have my FT TC3 dialed all i need is a new top and im set. I already have over 50 tires grooved and ready to race.

The Pine Bowl is in great shape!! After grooming it on Monday and leaving it un-packed, it absorbed this latest moisturing by Mother Nature and is looking very racy.

Tomorrow is the get it ready night, with the Gimp putting the test laps on the new GBX after we're finished with the race-prep. Others are welcome to practice (someone please call Lorette and advise him as I don't have his number)

If anyone is going to Latham let me know (727-3456), as we need the scoring system parts removed from the handtruck and installed at the Pine Bowl. If no-one is stopping by I'll run up after work on Thursday.

Thanks and

See Ya................. At My Track

So far..... So Good

The heavy rains that washed out and flooded the Competition tracks earlier this week did not hit the Pine Bowl and we are in great shape.

The scoring system has been picked up (thank you Eric) and will be installed tonight.

According to todays weather radar, most of this AMs rain drifted to the North of the tack and will not affect this weekend at all.

In talking with the WDRA Director it has been agreed to not panic over the waeather forecast, after all its wrong 65% of the time anyway; especially as it is only calling for scattered showers. We will do everything humanly possible to hold the show as scheduled on Saturday. Even if it means tarping the track or finishing under the lights (you want to talk about bite!!), or having Rupert show-up just to spread the kitty litter.

Keep your computers tuned here, or better yet...

See Ya................... At The Track

Vic,

Tomorrow night warms ups are still on. Same time as normal Monday night racing, but if the weather holds I'll be here all day getting my car ready and hopefully hot lapping a little. So you can come down whenever you want.

Hey Vic, What Eric didn't tell you is that we rigged up a tented tarp over the track. That baby is going to be ready rain or shine!!! Bring your camera - it is a sight to see. Nice new paint on the walls too in case ESPN shows up.

Bring your Late Model down anyway! I might get a chance to get my Dad's ready, and even if that just means a few hotlaps here and there it could be worth it. Plus you never know what other people decide to bring to the track...

Hey guys. How about posting a few pics of the "track under tarp." Like "HEMI under glass" but different. Best of luck to all tomorrow, I will be there in spirit. Hope mother nature doesn't spoil the party for you. Then again if she does maybe there might be a rain date that I could make. HMMMMMM

The Top Notch Pit Crew and Promoter at Pine Bowl have sadly announced that due to weather conditions, racing for Friday Night has been canceled.

They report that the track is still in great shape as "Nassau's biggest tent" is keeping the bulk of the water off the track.

As of 6PM on Friday the SATURDAY PROGRAM IS ON as scheduled.

I would suggest you bring an umbrella, bug spray and an extra pair of socks.

Here are some pics of the track as it is right now, 7:15 Friday night. It's still raining, but the track surface has been unaffected for the most part, and barring masive rain storms tomorrow everything should proceed as planned.

Oh Boy Where do I begin:

Thanks to Bob G for the donation of his old pool cover. ALong with mine and two additional tarps where where able to keep the track covered.

Thanks to Eric, Scott, Bob, and the others for the help on Thur night. Without you we would never have raced today.

Thanks for all the assistance from all the racers, especially Chris L, Chris L, Todd, Scott, Eric, Team Hartzell and whomever I've forgotten in re-convifuring the tarps on race day into a bigger circus tent which could be driven under while keeping the additional rain off the track.

To all the long haulers who came to race and waited patiently for hot laps to start at 12:15 instead of the scheduled 8 AM!!!

To everyone for being ready all day and marshalling when it was time.

And Finally ......The Results ......... Congratuations to:

kirt- great job with the track and running the races

the track stayed the same all day and night

big ups to dan d.(CDKjr ), in what i think might be his 1st WDRA tour big block race, he goes from 1 lap down in the C mail, to 3rd over all in the A main.....he showed some great wheel control

fred

KirtC
07-11-2005, 12:48 PM
Dan D. definitely gets the award for the most races run by usung both his and Dad's bump-up packs in coming from the Big-Block C to 3rd in the show. Dan was not the fastest but showed some of the most consistancy and wheeling, especially for a young guy. Great Job!!

Hard Luck award(s) go out to two CD R/C regulars, Jim C. had the Big-Block B easily on hand with all but the second place car a lap down, when he encountered trouble in traffic and lost two laps; and Chris L. who was last years Big-BLock winner and failed to make the show after a scoring error slpped him to 3rd in the B  . Just goes to show you how stiff the competition is.

Pete D continues to spin my head and make the Modifieds almost impossible to race direct. Pete ran consistant 4.3s with a fast lap of 4.09 :dude: . Now there's something for Brett L. to shoot for!!

On a side note; it is not wise to tell the track owner's wife that you haven't "come" yet after she thanks you for "attending" the race :drunk:

Well I can't believe it but its happened twice now. Yesterday a heavy thunderstorm ripped through the Pine Bowl, bringin down a small tree, still stuck in the power lines running to the house and blocking the driveway, along with making a shambles out of the Big-Top (before we got any good pictures).

Work night Thursday if anyone is available to take down the remains. Hot laps to follow.

Also found a few misc. parts.

Post or shoot me an email to claim or inquire.

One minor change for next year, we'll need to out a pew motor spray containers throught the pits as we lost too much grass !!
