Anybody seen this, and is it worth seeing? We're taking the kids to Ft Lauderdale to the Nature Museum this weekend, and it's playing at their IMAX theater as part of the dinosaur exhibit. The ticket prices are pretty steep though, I just wanted to make sure it didn't suck!

I saw it years ago (at least five but no more than 10) and the dino renders were pretty good for the time. However, the execution blows. I thought it was going to be like a Discovery special documentary where they give you really good info and they animated the dinos so you're "walking" with them.

Instead, it's a weak story about how a girl feels neglected by her paleontologist father so she decides to "get back at him" by running away in the museum. She gets lost in the dino exhibit and her imagination takes her back to the Cretaceous. The acting quality is of low caliber. Let's just say the adults are either too old for porno flicks or they're soap opera rejects. The little girl's annoying. The plot was awful. For me it was a waste of money, but kids might like it depending upon their ages.

Don't know if that helps you one way or the other. Overall I think there's better ways to entertain kids for the same amount of dough.

It does. We were underwhelmed by the whole Safari 3D experience last time we went there, at $18.00 a ticket it wasn't exactly a great documentary, and the 3D system went out about 10 minutes into it. 36 bucks for a flat sub-Marlin Perkins 40 minute animal feature kinda soured us on Imax 3D. I was willing to give it a second chance though.

Disapointing though, I'd think you could make a pretty exciting 3D movie about a T-Rex! We'll probably skip it, thanks for the heads up!

I have to echo El Gato's sentiments. We went to see it at the Smithsonian - same expectations, same disappointment.
I'm not a big fan of IMAX 3-D anyway. It really dulls down the image, and my impression is that it actually creates a barrier to the story rather than drawing you in. IMAX by itself is a great medium ...
