Still pick these up fairly cheap at some places. LarryF 06-06-2005, 02:12 AM Check Ebay ...120-150 the last couple of weeks, I've kept track of 5 different sales of the same model. cheers... Larry veedubb67 06-06-2005, 01:20 PM Good luck on the C-57D! Just Plain Al 06-06-2005, 08:09 PM Wow, my local place just sold 2 C-57D at regular retail last week (I bought 1 of them, my brother the other) MitchPD3 06-10-2005, 01:16 AM Not quite sure who would be dumb enough to pay $150 for this model when you can still find them out there at the regular price. And if your lucky enough to find one at Hobby Lobby you can get them for half price. It's not that we're nosey it was just that we were pointing out that this price was a little EXTREME. I checked ebay and was finding them all day long for pretty much the regular price but I did see a couple that had a "buy it now" for $125. Also noticed that no one was bidding on his auction. LarryF 06-10-2005, 04:21 AM http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=1193&item=5978498380&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW (http://www.qksrv.net/click-1606754-5463217?loc=http%3A//cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll%3FViewItem%26item%3D5978498380) http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=1193&item=5977389471&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW (http://www.qksrv.net/click-1606754-5463217?loc=http%3A//cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll%3FViewItem%26item%3D5977389471) http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=1193&item=5978415770&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW (http://www.qksrv.net/click-1606754-5463217?loc=http%3A//cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll%3FViewItem%26item%3D5978415770) Please note these are completed auctions from the last few weeks. Not some that are still in process. If the links don't work, go to Ebay, search for C-57D under completed auctions...you'll find them. As for the uncompleted ones, try checking the last 10 minutes or so before they are up. Now, my real concern here is not whether the model is worth what I was asking...It is just plain RUDE to mess around in someone elses business and or post when no help, comments, etc were asked for. If you don't want to buy the model...fine...if you think it's too much...fine....go post somewhere else. Why here? As I see it, it's typical internet bravado. No one would think to go tell the guy (whom you don't know) selling his car down the street that he's asking too much. Unfortunately, good or bad, some people have lost their scruples and decency while surfing the internet. Did you think I did not research what I was selling? Obviously I did, see links. I've been trading online for years...with stuff much more expensive than these plastic models...Plain and simple, I offered them here thinking this was a nice place, maybe I was wrong, but I thought I'd make the offers here before sending then off to Ebay. Were the prices locked? No, I would have entertained offers, but no one offered anything except what could only be considered rude comments, unwanted in what is supposed to be a buy/sell and trading forum, not the general or off topic forum. You say you were only trying to point out I was high on my price? Did the private message system here stop working? OK, how about email...that not working? Don't you think an email like "Hey buddy, caught your post and noticed you may get a better reponse if you come down on the price abit, none of my business, just some free advice from a fellow modeler." would have been a more decent thing to do ? Like I said, internet bravado.. As I said, please drop me an email when you all post something up, I'd feel privilaged to spam it for you seeing as you all did it for me :) Now, this is my final post about this. Feel free to spam at will... P.S. I'm sorry, I gotta ask this.....What business is it of anyones what I choose to sell my property for ???? Please, for an answer to that I'd come back and post again, LOL Larry :freak:  F91 06-10-2005, 09:29 AM Larry, I don't think the intent is to criticize you for your asking price. The difference in your argument of the BB here vs. the real world is that, in this community, we try to stick together and help each other out. If I was a friendly neighbor and you were selling a car for a lot of money, I would certainly ask you if you think it was worth it, as a friend, not as a critic. If you can get that money great. Evilbay is a crap shoot. There were Enterprise E's selling for 100-150$ all over the place. I used the same hit words in the seller description and I got 1 bid, for the opening price, 50$. When people say good luck with the sale, I prefer to think they really mean it. LarryF 06-10-2005, 03:49 PM F91....I agree...if my neighbor , who is my friend would be selling a car, and I thought the price was high, I wouldn't think twice about saying something to him. We're friends. Problem is, I have no friends here being new, also, don't you think it would have been better to say something to my friend in private, instead of posting under his ad? It's kinda like putting a sign under his forsale sign on his windshield, saying "This Car is Too Much." "Good luck selling the C57"...could be taken either way...I chose to take it in the same vein as the rest of the thread....if I'm mistaken I apologize. If I'm not, read on... This is why we have private messaging. As I said, it's not whether the cost was too high. It's just a matter of common courtesy. Something severely lacking on the internet in these BB 's and chat rooms. People hide behind the anonimity of the internet and say whatever they please, without thought to repercussions to whom it may affect. I didn't lose anything here, I can drop these off at the ebay store and have the cash I was looking for (or damn close) in a week/month whatever. It's the idea that people get real brave when they have a wall to hide behind, knock the wall down, and they are not as they are appear, usually small and spiteful people (in this case I hope I'm wrong, hard to think modelers could be so shallow). Again, comment was not asked for. At RCMT, if you put something like this in someone elses ad, you'd be flamed to high heaven and warned by the mods, if you kept it up, you'd be banned. As for the bid, like I said, check back at the end....these links I posted are the only ones that have sold in the last few weeks, except one from Canada and I have no idea what a Canadian dollar is worth. You cannot go by what is being bid at the time, you need to wait until the party's over. All the action happens in the last 10 minutes. As for my price, you'll notice I set it down the middle of the 3 I found that were completed. I didn't think I was being greedy, I figured it as middle of the road. I hold nothing against you, you seem a reasonable person who answers questions with reasonable answers and is only looking to squelch the flames. It just really irks me when people try to pull this stuff when you and I both know they'd never do it to your face. Please understand, I do not aim this tirade : ) at the entire board....only at a few people that seem to need some lessons in internet courtesy. Now I am truely finished here....Funny, I have this same ad at Starship modeler and no one crapped it up there....I guess people know how to mind there own business there. Sorry, had to throw that in ... Remember back to what your mother taught you ladies and gentlemen...if you don't have anything nice to say...don't say anything at all..... Larry :drunk:  MitchPD3 06-11-2005, 06:56 AM Some people just takes things way out of context... I go out of my way, most times, at my own expense to help people on this BB. When xr4sam wanted a DVD of "the Day the Earth stood still" I sent him one at no cost. When ham1963 wanted a copy of an Enterprise episode, he got it at no cost. When Mitchellmania saw that I had a "Spock with snakes" model, well he's the proud owner of it now, at no cost. Andrew Gorman needed a complete interior of the C-57D. Worked out a trade for an NX-01 1/1000 scale when it comes out. But right now he has it in his possession. Hmmm, think that there might be some trust going on there? Several more here that I have helped that I just can't remember but it was at no cost. Not even the cost of postage. And to get flamed for asking whether or not you might have made a typo. You need to stop and realize that when you registered on this board you automatically became a friend because you shared an interest in the same hobby. AMEN BROTHER! i HAVE NOT YET MET A FINER BUNCH OF PEOPLE THAN THAT WHICH EXISTS ON THIS BOARD! Everyone here helps each other. LarryF 06-11-2005, 04:46 PM I'll try to make this short. Your comments were not asked for. I'm trying to sell items I own. It's between myself and whomever may be interested in what I charge. I need a certain price to purchase Lightwave 3D, if they do not sell, then it is up to "me" to either lower the price or send them off to ebay. Not you, or any of the others who posted. You say I'm a "friend" and "fellow modeler" and I'm guessing your insinuating that you were trying to help me. I'll use the used car analogy once more. I guess you'll go over to my house and without discussing it with me "privately" post a sign up underneath my forsale sign saying it's too high. How is this being a friend? Am I to insinuate that you were being "helpful" as a "friend"...seems to me you were telling your other friends it was too high... You don't want to be flamed, I suggest to you most politely and sincerely and not sarcastically at all that you think before you type. Trust...I'm sorry but I fail to see the connection. What does trust have to do with spam? .... I'm new here, I'll need to trust some to work deals, I've bought several items off this board, sent money off trusting they will send the item. Has nothing to do with spam. Your helping other people...great, good for you. I've done it myself on occasion. How did you help me? I again fail to see the connection. You and the others spam up my thread. This is "help" ? I'll be honest, I've seen this before, I'll probably see it again, and I won't think twice telling people I think they are doing something they probably shouldn't. What are friends for :) You would have been better served instead of trying to defend yourself with your many good deeds to simply say "sorry dude, I didn't mean it like that and should have PM'd you about it". Does this make a hell of alot more sense? Sincerely, Larry swhite228 06-11-2005, 05:14 PM Check eBay ...120-150 the last couple of weeks, I've kept track of 5 different sales of the same model. cheers... Larry  : $100-$120 the last 7 days(lowest was $94) averages out to about $105 for the kit. Dude, you got no response at Starship Modeler due to the high price, at least here Mitch and the others tried to point out the prices were high to help you. My suggestion is before joining a group just to sell things take a moment to get to get to know the people. Hobbytalk has a great group of people as does Starship Modeler. You might have found it helped you to sell a few of the kits. As I said, please drop me an email when you all post something up, I'd feel privilaged to spam it for you seeing as you all did it for me Now, this is my final post about this. Feel free to spam at will... To quote my next door neighbor's little boy " Someone needs a time out!" P.S. I'm sorry, I gotta ask this.....What business is it of anyones what I choose to sell my property for ???? Please, for an answer to that I'd come back and post again, LOL What you sell your stuff for is your own business that isn't the point here. I doubt you will be reading the last few post as it seems you joined here and SM only to sell your kits! I feel sorry for that, I have made a lot of friends here and at SM. The help I have been offered has made modeling fun again. I've sold kits here(and yes I've been told they were priced too high) and found that it's safer here than on eBay. I have also found that you can trade for just about anything here also. As I said, it's not whether the cost was too high. It's just a matter of common courtesy. Something severely lacking on the internet in these BB 's and chat rooms. People hide behind the anonimity of the internet and say whatever they please, without thought to repercussions to whom it may affect. Pointing out what might be a mistake, or trying to help you sell your kits is common courtesy....flying off the handle like you did isn't! It's the idea that people get real brave when they have a wall to hide behind, knock the wall down, and they are not as they are appear, usually small and spiteful people Where is that mirror when it's needed...... I didn't lose anything here, I can drop these off at the eBay store and have the cash I was looking for (or damn close) in a week/month whatever. And so you did! Good luck with your auction maybe you will find someone who will pay the $400 buy it now price, but I don't think you'll even make the reserve with the starting price of $300.
