Whatever happend with the company that was supposed to be backed by 600 racing and was supposed to be producing the Legends cars? I used to have a link to their website but deleted it sometime ago. Anybody heard anything or have the link to their site?

I'm not looking for parts or cars. I've got several setting on the shelf at home right now. I was curious as to the status of RC Spec who was supposed to be re-releasing the legends kits and parts but kind of disappeared without even a whimper. If they are producing anything it's sure been rather hush-hush. If there is no new producer then when Steve has exhausted his supply, Legends is pretty much done.

I had heard that RC Spec ran into licensing issues? I hope someone can salvage the Legends

From what i heard right from Steve Rule, the Owner of bolink... He said the company that was doing the Legends stuff was contracted by him to cut some parts.. then they decided on there own they would release the parts.. They did not have the proper permission from the legends organisation.. Steve said he had the paperwork, and was supose to be the only one able to do the parts....

I talked to him a few months back, and this is what o got from the convo..

Not sure what the story is but according to a letter that was emailed to me that RCSpec had the permission to produce the Legends product line. Here is a link to the letter

That is a pretty clear letter Hank. The only thing I see missing is it is not signed by any officer of 600 Racing, nor is the letter dated, nor does it have the normal TO: , FROM: , SUBJECT: like a normal business letter would have.

This could be because this was a news release and not a letter. Who knows.

Thanks for the info.

Yeah I remember that press release and all the diaogue from Steve about him having the rights to the Legends. Guess someone failed to properly communicate. But all in all, it still leaves a once great class near the edge of extinction.

I don't want to jump on another companys thread and post but here is an update on what is going on here. I have no idea what the other company is doing, I know they have parts because many have came from me. I had to repo (for a lack of a better word) the body equipment due to non-payment and I have got me a cool little 3750sf building that I am almost unpacked in... I have to go on the road for the next 2 weeks setting up Fireworks Stands but when I return the online store will be restocked. I will sell to LHS if they would like to sell our products, just email me at hobbyorders@aol.com but please give me time to answer, I am a 1 man show and it may take me a few days to get back to you, I will also have a new 800# by the end of the month and will post it on a new thread when we are ready. For the time being I will be pulling the bodies again, everything is still For Sale but for the time being I got tired of fishing. And also I have attached my Legends letter just to help clear things up.

STEVE LIVES! LOL Tired of fishing huh? ;)

Hey no problem with jumping in here. Since the other guy is nowhere to be found the fact that there is still a possibility that the Legends will continue is good news. The only thing holding it back now is full scale production of kits. Parts will help keep the existing guys going a bit longer but won't bring in new blood.

Keep us posted on the progress Steve.

Carpet Legends Are Alive And Well In East Tenn !!!!!!

I Found That There Are A Lot Of People Who Want To Run Legends. The Only Catch Was As Said Before Is Parts. They Are Out There, We Were Able To Find Enough Diffrent Suppliers To Get All The Parts. We Had Our First Big Legends Race Only During The Snow Bird. We Affectionaly Called It The Snow Chicken. Had Over 40 Racers At IT. We Were Real Plaesed For The First Race. We Are Planning The 2nd Annualy Snow Chicken 2/10-11/06.

Also The Arcor Legends National On March 18-19/06. Legends Are Fun For All. Come On Out And Have Some Fun.

Allan A

Craig;

WE HAD A AVERAGE OF 20 RACERS THRU THE END OF MARCH. THEN EVERYONE STARTED GOING BACK OUTSIDE. I GRANT YOU THAT LEGENDS ARE NOT AS NUMEROUS AS OTHER CARS. BUT I BELIEVE THEY ARE FUN AND LESS EXPENSIVE THAN MOST CARS. SO IF WE CAN FIND PARTS AND MAKE A NITCH FOR THEM I BELIEVE THEY WILL MAKE A COMEBACK. i HOPE SO ANYWAY.

Allan, I couldn't agree more. They are a fun and inexpensive class. Too bad they haven't been resurrected as far as kit availability. I don't see anyone really getting into the class until there is a viable dealer of complete kits. People just don't trust "promises" anymore. They want to see them on the shelf with parts in abundance. Man I miss the Legends.

It was interesting! If I were to make a suggestion for this 'new' class I would call it World Challenge. Allow racers to use any of the 2 door production based bodies out on the market. You know, Corvette, Viper, Ferrari, Porsche, 350Z, GTO, etc., etc.

Looks like an updated L2 (4 cell users can still put them on the left side) if it's still widely available why not it deserves a shot. I'd see more of a look like the actual Trans-Am or IROC series; it would be OK on both oval and on-road because sedans would look bizarre on circle tracks. The out-of-the-box rule is a must.

You could use HPI Trans Am bodies and call it IROC.

WhirlinGraphics
09-09-2005, 11:58 PM
IROC is a joke in the real cars. I would be very resistant to pattern an R/C series after it. I think the World Challenge idea would get the younger folks interested more. Give them the chance to race a tricked out S2000, Mitsu. Eclipse, or Lamborghini, etc.? There are tons of bodies to chose from (not relying on a single manufacturer) and aero would not be much of a concern in this class.

I went to the website last week and it doesn't look like it has been updated since August of last year? It would be nice to hear if there is any progress made.

I talked to the guy who owns RCSPEC who's supposed to be producing the Legends cars. He said he had parts and was waiting on one metal piece that goes in the diff. before releasing complete kits. That was more than a month ago. Not sure what the holdup is. It's been what, over a year now since they were supposed to have been given the go ahead by 600 racing?

kevinm

I received the parts I ordered after about 1-1/2 weeks, so they are shipping parts. The rear axles are the narrow-hub style that Bolink changed to near the end, and won't work with the older wide diff hubs.

I ordered some parts from www.rcspecracing.com last weekend received a confirmation Monday and ALL my parts were at my house Thursday! Great job now if they can just get a FULL KIT back :)

P.S.
My order included: kingpins, front axles, steering blocks, front plate, rear axle, spur gears, thrust bearings and a couple bodies, all showed up
