It seems like all 4 cell racing is done on a one groove track. Where either the faster car wins or you sit behind the guy and wait for a mistake. Would'nt it be cool to have a banked track with 2 or even three grooves where you could make passes on the outside. I have been to lots of Oval races and never seen anyone make a pass on the outside for position....

Just a Fun thought to Talk about

6 cells!!!!!!!!!! We need to get back to it. It should be an option again to have a choice between 4 and 6 cells like it was a couple of years ago. Plenty of good racing in the 6 cell days and even at rare tracks like my home track that still runs 6 cell stock. I'd just like to see more people have a choice.

...we do a couple races on a 950 ft. VELODROME every year... There is PLENTY of PASSING on that track...

I do agree however about the passing issue.

Too many tracks are set up for length instead of "Good Racing"

When we do a temporary oval layout, I try to make sure the lanes are at least 18 - 20 wide. Even if this means making the inner oval of the track very small. It leaves lots or racing room, racers can make passes and get out of faster cars way w/o destroying your car. A popular size layout I use is 120 x 80 outer perimeter. The infield is layed out w/ ductape (either White or Yellow for a good visual appearance) The perimeter layout allows for a 70 ft length and a 30 ft wide infield that makes for great racing.

A lot larger track could be made if the lanes were narrowed to 12 ft, but this makes the driving so close and almost not fun...and if it AIN'T FUN...people quit coming back.

6 cells!!!!!!!!!! We need to get back to it.

I ran 6 cell stock for years...it was fun, but I moved to 6 cell modified and couldn't drive the car on most tracks. I still run modified..I still can't hardly wheel the car...and it's only 4 cell. I still LOVE 4 cell, I get to have MORE battery packs for LESS money and if it's speed I want...MODIFIED or 19T gives me plenty of it...

EXACTLY!!!

I've been to banked tracks where it's STILL one groove. What we need is a progressive banking.
Flat for a foot, 3 degrees for 3 feet, 6 degrees for 3 more, and 9 degrees for the final 3 feet, with a narrow infield, something like that would make for multiple line racing.

You build it, I will come  .

Jet's Idea for progressive banking would work pretty awesome I think

The Miami/Homestead Nascar track was originaly almost flat with 6 degrees banking in the corners, for several years it was known for boring single groove follow the leader racing. In 2003 they spent a PILE of money on it making it into a progessively banked track ( up to 20 degrees I think? ) its now a fantasitic side by side racetrack!! Yep Jets got the right idea

The track where the region 5 Paved Oval race is going on this weekend has many different lines. You can get a run on someone in a couple places and just slingshot by on the outside or inside. It has different banking in every turn. It's a d shaped track.

It helps a lot when the track is rounder. If it's more like of a paperclip form you can't stay 2 wide for very long.
