A talented filmaker who hits as much as he misses, although he's missed more than he's hit in recent years.I worked as an extra on The Doors for two days when they shot the 1969 Miami concert scenes at the Olympic Auditorium in Los Angeles. Oliver was there on the second day, and every time he was seen by the crowd they (we) reacted with thunderous applause. He may not get a lot of respect these days, but back then he was certainly revered as an innovative filmmaker and storyteller. :thumbsup:

I liked Platoon.

Oliver's made some great movies, I read a book years ago by a woman who was a producer on Natural Born Killers, it was her first movie and she's thrown together with Oliver Stone. She didn't trash him, but her tale of the filming left no doubt that Oliver is extremely colorful, and works real hard at being Oliver Stone in a Hemingway kind of way.

BTW, Natural Born Killers is the one Stone film I really can't stand, I know it has a cult, but I just don't get it.

Don't care for Natural Born Killers either. J.F.K on the other hand - even if not one single frame of it is "true" - is one of the most brilliant American films of the last three decades.

Yep, I liked Nixon too. And agreed on JFK. And Platoon, Born on the Fourth of July, The Doors, Talk Radio...would like to see The Hand again, I remember it being a bit daffy but having a wonderfully fevered performance from Michael Caine losing it. Need to see Salvadot again. No interest in NBK, it's one I know will be too unsavory to enjoy.

Not overly fond of Stone the man, love alot of the films.

Just watched Salvadore again on IFC. Powerful movie - great performance by James Woods.

I like Salvadore too, it's the ultimate good James Woods performance. The ultimate bad James Woods performance is of course, The Boost.

We all screw up, but I think the difference is that if I had Oliver Stone money(and fame) I would have called a limo.......or Sean Young, she could probably use the work and the bucks.

An old college buddy of mine and myself get out about twice a year to see a favorite local rock band from our youth do a semi-annual reunion show.
One of the wives or his daughter will drop us off at the venue around 9 and we happily and drunkenly take a cab home at 2 am. With tips for the cabby the ride home runs between 35-50 bucks - a hell of a lot cheaper and safer than the alternative. Of course, it took us until we were old farts to gain the wisdom to employ that alternative method of transportation.

Only in my mind, which is a terrible thing to waste. I meant to say that I was stoned when I pasted that - but I was so stoned when I wrote that I wrote it I forgot that I had pasted it. But really when you think about it - I didn't paste it either. I mean, there's no paste in cyberspace, man. Paste is like this gooey sticky physical substance man, and cyberspace is just like metaphorical you know? I mean, I'm typing these words and they appear on the screen but can you really touch them man? Nooooooo!
