OK, I took my rc10l3 totally apart to clean and replace all the hardware, my question is about the wheel base. It was in the longer position and I mainly race on flat ovals, shoulsdI shorten it?

What do you guys think about paying the 135.00 to buy a Silva chassis conversion? Would that help my car? Or does it make that much difference?

the silva conversion is a nice conversion. again you don't have alot of experience yet. moving up to another chassis may get confusing. that 135.00 could get you some race packs.

Ok next Question, I bought these hyperdrive caster blocks, On Tues. I am racing a semi banked high speed oval at so cal raceway. Which hole should I be in? I have it in the top on the left side and second from top on the right.

Z-Main Loser

Try the bottom hole on the right and one up on the left. You could even go to the bottom on the left if the car is still rolling over on the right hard. On a banked track you want to try keeping the car flat through the corners, raising the roll center or lowering the the mounting points on the top arms will help do this.

Thanks Ill do it.

If you have the 5 hole blocks from Hyperdrive,
run the Right side in the bottom hole or 2nd from the bottom.
On the Left run it in the middle hole and that should make the arm parallel with the ground.
If you run it in the top hole, your arm will be actually angling down which is not good.

see the pic attached.

erock1331- whats the effect on the car if the arm is angling down??

although I have never run it like that, nor seen anyone run it like that...my guess would be less steering. cause the higher the hole you use the less steering the car should have. Also I would think it would bind up the kingpin, or you would really need to work on it to free up the pin movement.

Also if you run it in the top hole you would probabaly have an abundance of bump toe out. The key is to get the tie rod in line with your top A-arm to elimnate the bump toe out.

this should help

Ok, I'm not getting how IRS is getting more or less steering. Does it have to do with the roll center or something with the angle themselves. If I'm thinking right, and most of the time I'm not, the higher mounting point on the top arm lowers the roll center and vise versa. The low roll center gives the front more bit which will help the front steer quicker. I'm just seeing things backwards of how IRS described.

Erick, when you say to get the tie-rod in line with the upper a-arm, are you refering to having the tie-rod leval if the a-arm is leval on the left and the right tie-rod and a-arm on the same angle? When I do this I get bump toe-in when I press down on the front. How do I get this fixed? Will changing the tie-rod angle to the stearing block fix this?

erock1331
06-08-2005, 01:20 PM
Larry you could try that.

Say for instance the KSG block, most run the LF in the top hole which makes the top arm level. Well to correct the bump steer they sell the toe-corrector which attaches the the steering block, all this does is lowers the tie-rod to make it sit level. Now both are parrallel to the ground and bump steer should not be present.

To keep this thread alive..........Which color springs does anyone suggest for the Monster based motors?

erock1331
07-26-2005, 08:14 AM
Typically I start with 2 green springs on a Monster motor.
Then when I break in at 2v no fan, I take a small screwdriver and lightly press on the back of each brush, if the amp draw does not really increase then I leave it alone. But if i notice when I lightly press and the amps increase about 1.5-2.0 amps then I go up to a red spring on that particular side.

Most run a Red + and a Green -

Being in California. You may want to check out the '05 Maverick slider since he is a lot closer and parts would be available quicker. As in shipping time required. Both cars are great but when it comes to geographic location. I personally would like a product that is close and parts can be aquired quickly.

You realy do need an undertaker, then you can be just as fast as us east coast rippers haha. seriously though can you buy maverick parts or silva parts locally or do you have to mail order them to over there on the left side. Maybe you can start your own revolution over there and join team rip.

Milky
07-29-2005, 08:41 PM
Mostly mail order mainly because the hobby shops carry very little oval parts. One hobby shop does but for me its an hour or more drive. I mainly use mail order. Lefthander rc super service. The undertaker looks like an awsome car, Id love one. Only problem these days is funds.

shane Kocher has an l4 have he kicks everyones a** with that car and it is right out of the box. I does not matter what car you have it is all how you set it up. I know it is nice to have the up to a date stuff as far a new chassi coming out. If you are really looking to get a new car and dont care about ordering parts and stuff the rip car is for you. you get everything except electronics , tires.
