could have maladjusted jets, try messing with em, the high and low screws, try screwing the high speed screw in some.

it's a jap carb and does not have any adjustments, i pulled apart what i could in the carb, and blew it all out. and it still needs chock to run

so this is one of those cloned engines...? well it could be the carb itself. unless you've run it before and it ran well. that or the governor isn't doing its job right. or a hole is still plugged.

Sounds like the carb is running too lean; so the choke partially closed richs the mixture. This could be an air leak in the system which is allowing excess air into the mixture. Check your gaskets for any leaks.

My brother had a sthl leaf blower that did the same thing since it was new. It turned out the factory had jetted the carb for high altitudes, rejetted it and it ran like a clock, no choke.

Gary, this is a 4 year old thread, they probably have it fixed by now. Have a good one. Geo
