Guys,
Getting an E-Maxx and I would like to know a good tire/suspension and gearing set-up to run.
Newbie to 4wd but not 2wd.
Any info would be great.

Here's the setup i'm currently running(might not be the perfect for you, but its' a good place to start i think):
Front: 60wt. oil, stock pistons and Losi green springs w/integy MSR5 shocks, shocks mounted middle hole on tower, far outside hole on arm(shock almost completely laid down). I also moved the spacer on the arm(the ones that you can use to adjust caster) i moved them so both are in the back giving the truck more caster to increase steering. Ride height is arms level
Rear: 40wt. oil, stock pistons and Losi silver springs w/ integy MSR5 shocks, shocks mounted same as front, and caster spacers left stock. Ride Height is arms level
The nice thing about a monster truck setup is that when you find a setup that works for you you should be able to run it most anywhere and handle good.
Tires are Pro-Line 40 series bowties tires(are there really anything else for racing?).
I decided to get them, but you don't HAVE to get the aftermarket shocks for this truck, the ones i got are better than the stock ones, but you can run the stock ones without many problems, the only thing you will have to watch is that you don't overfill the shock with oil when you build them b/c with that they are made out of plastic they blow caps off the top pretty easy, and also you will bend the occasional shock shaft on them. when i did run them i did with the same oil f/r, but left in the stock pistons and springs. If i was going to recomend any aftermarket shocks it would be the ones i have they come with reservoirs(so the caps dont blow off) and big 3.5mm shafts that dont bend.
Hopes this gets you going

Looks like the same set-up I run on my sons truck, He is running mostly indoors on carpet, but it works good. As for the #1 set-up change that made the most noticable improvment, it had to be the mentioned shocks. When I bought his I paid $115.00 for a set of 8, now I'm selling them for $75.00 almost makes me sick. :(

The Traxxas big bore shocks are excellent and only about $65
If you stick with the stock ones definately get aluminum caps for them, with those if you blow caps off it definately means that you did not build the shock properly.
For springs Team Losi 2.5" springs work excellent

Thanks guys.
I got it last night and it has the stock shocks of which I am going to find better ones for sure.
Has 2 12 turn mod motors so hopefully it will scoot!
