OCALA, FL (May 18) – John Seasock is looking forward to returning to his adopted “home away from home” this weekend when he drives the Traxxas T-Maxx™ in the United States Hot Rod Association’s Summer Heat Monster Jam at Ocala Speedway.

The three-day, four-program event will be the Traxxas team’s fourth in Florida this year, and its first in USHRA competition in two months.

“This will be our first time in Ocala and we’re really looking forward to it,” Seasock said. “We’ve raced in Florida several other times this year, and we’re going back in early June, too. We love racing in the Sunshine State. That’s one good thing about our job; we get to race all over the country. We make friends everywhere we go, and it’s always great to go back and see them.”

When asked how it feels to race with the USHRA again for the first time in two months, Seasock said, “It’s like going home. We run most of our shows with Clear Channel Motorsports, and it’s a really comfortable feeling.”

The Ocala Summer Heat Monster Jam will be Seasock’s first USHRA competition since he dominated the Monster Jam in Wilkes-Barre, PA. The T-Maxx won two of four races in Wachovia Arena, and reached the semifinals in the other two. He also received 34% of the votes on his way to winning the USHRA’s Fan Choice Award.

“We finished the Monster Jam season on a high note,” Seasock said. “Then, when I won the Fan Choice Award, it brought tears to my eyes. We’re out here for the fans. It’s our job and our career, but it’s all about the fans. I’m extremely honored for them to recognize me with the best drivers in the country.”

The T-Maxx dominated a non-sanctioned monster truck event at the Columbia County/Lake City Fairgrounds in Florida in April, winning two of the three shows. In two other USHRA events run earlier this year in the Sunshine State, Seasock raced into the semifinals during the Superbowl of Motorsports in Tampa, FL, and reached the quarterfinals in the Superbowl of Motorsports in Orlando, FL.

The T-Maxx will compete against Grave Digger®, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle®, Gun Slinger®, Destroyer® and Eradicator® in Ocala. USHRA officials say Ocala Speedway’s track design makes it one of the fastest monster truck courses the series will run in 2005.

“Gary Porter will be driving Grave Digger against us this weekend,” Seasock said. “In my opinion, he’s one of the best drivers in the country. He has ice running through his veins and he rarely makes mistakes. He’s one of the toughest guys to beat.

“There’s going to be some really tough competition in Ocala. Racing against trucks like these, you have to be on top of your game. We’re going to run four shows this weekend, too, so Mike (Hoy, the team’s crew chief) will be really busy. He has the truck running at 110% right now. I’m looking forward to racing hard and attracting more T-Maxx fans. T-Maxx already had its own fan base since it’s the best R/C truck, but we’re trying to get more.”

The Advance Auto Parts Summer Heat Monster Jam will feature 8pm events Friday and Saturday and 2pm shows Saturday and Sunday. The Ocala Speedway gates will open an hour before each event. The USHRA has scheduled a Party in the Pits for 11:45am to 12:45pm Saturday. Tickets to Saturday’s 2pm show will serve as admission to the Party in the Pits. Free pit passes are available from Southern Ford Dealers locations.

Tickets to each event cost $12. Tickets are available at the Ocala Speedway box office, all Ticketmaster® outlets, Ticketmaster.com or by calling 904-353-3309.
