Timo, do you have some place that you plan to host your web pages? There are lots of free sites out there like Geocities. Essentially once your pages are done you have to upload them to a web server. It's important that your main page be appropriately named, usually something like default.html so that when someone types in the address (http://www.geocities.com/manmantimo/) the right start page comes up.

Hope that makes sense. Let me know if you have any other questions.

How do you get to the web? Your provider may give you web space for pages and images. Find out what your account offers. They may allow you to upload your web pages within a browser window using your account ID and password. Either that or you can pick up a free FTP client (way to talk to your web server) like WS-FTP. Do a search. It’s like using Windows Explorer to move files around from your computer to the web server.

You’ll have to publish your Word pages from Word using the "Save to Web Page" option, and then upload the entire folder layout of the pages to the server exactly as they are on your hard drive. Like suggested, find out what the INDEX (home) page should be listed as per your provider or web server recommendations. Usually it is; “INDEX.HTML”, or for Windows servers; DEFAULT.HTM. If you have multiple pages, make sure you set this in the page creation program before saving out so all pages will reference the correct home page. That way your URL address will be simple like BlackRoc suggested.

If you want your own domain name it is a little more work. You would have to lease a virtual web server on a monthly basis, pay to register a domain name and have that name pointed at your virtual server. A great service for this is www.powweb.com. Tons of space and very affordable. If you choose this route you may want to learn how to set permissions for pages and folders so wise guys don't try to write to your server or view private folders.

Another tip is to make sure all of your images are saved out as .JPG or .GIF so they can be viewed in all browsers. Internet Explorer does allow viewing of BMP files, but some browsers don't. Also, BMP files can be very large. Keep your image size under 100k if you want viewers to stay happy. ;) Also, stay away from ".ART" files. These are AOL images that can only be viewed in AOL's browser.

Good luck.
