TOYMINATOR 05-17-2005, 08:47 AM Throw them in the trash and buy new! Fantom 05-17-2005, 08:50 AM Thats just a waste of money. Spray them with motor spray, and then get Trinity bushing lub. Trinity's Bearing lub is to runny. Then put a little on the side of the bearing and spin the bearing a couple of times to make sure the lub is in there good. djray77 05-17-2005, 09:43 AM I just dont think you can over get them like new again so I just buy new. seems they always feel like theres some dirt/sand in them. Fantom 05-17-2005, 05:57 PM Thats because there not lubed. When you buy them new the factory that makes them puts in really thick grease. Thats why they feel so smooth, But it will end up creating drag. After you clean them most of the grease is gone so the metal balls are grinding on the metal holding the balls in place. After you clean them you need to lub them really well. They may not feel as they did brand new but your car will have less drag. patcollins 05-17-2005, 06:46 PM Don't get rid of the grease. Run them they will loosen up after a few runs. Just brush the crud off the outside of the bearing. They will last longer and stay smoother. I use to be one of those people that cleaned every bit of grease out of their bearings and spend at least an hour a week cleaning bearings. Sure I had bragging rights in the pits but truth is it made zero difference in my laptimes, found out when I decided to build a new kit and was running short on time and said I will do it later. So unless your Brian Kinwald don't worry about it. Fantom 05-17-2005, 09:10 PM Ya, but the grease just atracks more dirt. Trixter 05-22-2005, 09:11 AM I've been at this a long time and I too used to clean all of the grese out of my bearings and then oil them with "Tribo". Now I take the inside shield off and the cleaning and oiling is easier. I run off road XXXT MF2 and onroad TC3 and yes it is a little bit of a chore, but that is part of my 'THERAPY'! Know what I mean>>>>? Qual_shen 05-23-2005, 06:33 AM For full maintenance I take the covers off, fill a shot glass with CRC brake clean, dump a couple in, then put them on some sort of vibrating mechanism, (ask my wife where I get them, lol). Vibrate them for about 15 to 20 minutes. Then I leave them in another few hours, take em out, hit em with motor spray and lube with trinity, it is a bit runny, but creates less drag and still lubes them fully. Be sure to do REGULAR maintenance not just when they feel gritty, hope this helps. patcollins 05-23-2005, 04:32 PM Ya, but the grease just atracks more dirt. Not really, especially if they are teflon sealed bearings. I have had my T3 since 99 and have not had to replace one bearing in it. I was constantly replacing bearings in my TC3 that i did the full degrease/oil/clean every week routine on. vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
