View Full Version : My notes for 2005...........
Dan4HW 05-13-2005, 10:51 PM - Kevin harvick has really matured and RCR seems to have a really good program starting up
- Mark Martin seems to be excited he can watch restrictor plate races on TV next year
- Joe Nemechek isn't affraid to admit when he made a mistake, unlike Jimmie Johnson
- Racing is becoming more and more like wrestling with every race
- Aparently profanity rules and assualt rules and the penalties for said act(s) do not apply to the defending champion Kurt Busch
- It is still unclear when or if Dale Jarret will actually race the Truck
- Michael Waltrip can still promote stuff better than the next guy
- Dick Trickle's name is still funny
- Advertisements for race venues always display "accidents"(crashes) to sell tickets and for some reason Elliot's Sadler car is in 90% of them
- Michael Waltrip beat Jimmie Johnson in NASCAR's sexiest driver competition? Thats a real blow to the sack.
Anyone wanna add?
Swifty 05-14-2005, 12:42 AM - Kevin harvick has really matured and RCR seems to have a really good program starting up
About time.
- Mark Martin seems to be excited he can watch restrictor plate races on TV next year
And it's not likely he'll win the championship this year, either. As long as Roush gives the good stuff to the kids, Mark's got to take second pickings.
- Joe Nemechek isn't affraid to admit when he made a mistake, unlike Jimmie Johnson
Nemechek is and always has been a good clean driver. He's just one without a water bottle now...
- Racing is becoming more and more like wrestling with every race
I've been saying that for years. Monster truck racing really is "professional" wrestling on wheels already, but at least they don't pretend to be a real sport.
- Aparently profanity rules and assualt rules and the penalties for said act(s) do not apply to the defending champion Kurt Busch
Hey! Leave Kurt &%^%$( alone, man! What's your ^&%($@! problem? Do I need to ^*$%*$( smash you in the &^%)&%)% face, you &%)&% ^$(%&*)? I can't stand Busch. And new points system be damned- Jeff Gordon won the '04 Nextel Cup. And I'm not even a Gordon fan.
- It is still unclear when or if Dale Jarrett will actually race the Truck
Dale. Truck. NOW.
- Michael Waltrip can still promote stuff better than the next guy
*Sitting in a room surrounded in Aaron's rented furniture eating a Domino's Pizza on a pile of empty boxes obtained when purchasing fine quality parts from Napa* I have no idea what you're talking about...
- Dick Trickle's name is still funny
Yes. So is Lake Speed's.
- Advertisements for race venues always display "accidents"(crashes) to sell tickets and for some reason Elliott Sadler's car is in 90% of them
He's secretly auditioning for the Fairgrounds Classic demolition derby- coming to a local county fair near you!
- Michael Waltrip beat Jimmie Johnson in NASCAR's sexiest driver competition? Thats a real blow to the sack.
?!?!?!?! When did THAT happen? Maybe there's still hope for me to win Mr. Universe after all!
Bill Elliott's never going to win another Nextel Cup race. Neither is Terry Labonte. And I really doubt Ricky Rudd's good for another one either. And Kyle Petty... riiiiiiiiiight.
I will continue to mock NASCAR for the sham that it has become.
The "Young Guns" will continue to get the best equipment and more and more veterans will be forced to retire earlier than expected.
Casey Atwood is now probably considered too old to get a Nextel Cup ride. You only get one chance these days, and he blew the #19 ride.
Is it me, or is Jeremy Mayfield actually getting better equipment after actually winning a race last year? Though Kahne's still getting the best equipment, he also crashes alot of good cars too. Also, Kahne appears determined to beat Bill Elliott's eight second place finishes before getting his first win.
Not watching the races really hurts you in fantasy racing. Uh, have you guys seen how lousy I've done this third of the season? And I've got to congratulate NovaSS on his sheer dominance. He's just outside the top 50 overall, in a series with over 100,000 competitors.
Dan4HW 05-14-2005, 01:33 AM LOL great commentary swifty.
But i have been watching some nascar lately and more and more each week i find my self rooting for kevin harvick. I cant stand this young gun crap either and of the young guns, he is nothing like them at all, for some reason since he has matured, i can understand why Dale Sr. wanted him to replace him(it still odd to this day he made that announcement before the daytona 500 he lost his life in).
But hey swifty, hows your free sunday's been? Enjoying nice weather in the new Stang?
- Michael Waltrip beat Jimmie Johnson in NASCAR's sexiest driver competition? Thats a real blow to the sack.
Heres a females perspective on this since I was one of those voting for Mikey. The poll was for sexiest, sexy doesn't just mean good looking, sexy includes charisma, sense of humor, cuteness, smiles and attitude. In all of these I say Mikey tops Johnson, no contest! I also happen to think Mikey is better looking then Johnson but thats just my opinion.
Anyway I'm glad Mikey won! Wish he could win the finals but I'm sure that will go to Dale Jr, not because he's sexy but because he has the biggest fanbase.
Swifty 05-14-2005, 03:58 AM But hey swifty, hows your free sunday's been? Enjoying nice weather in the new Stang?
Mostly using them to hunt diecast and/or work on customs, LOL.
Dave_anto364 05-16-2005, 08:58 AM prediction - harvick is out of the car at the end of the season. stewart moves to RCR and after about a year the 3 is reintroduced and Tony starts ticking everyone off.
Swifty 05-17-2005, 12:59 AM Kahne appears determined to beat Bill Elliott's eight second place finishes before getting his first win.
Hand me the ketchup. Time to eat my own words...

Thanks man. That was fun and pure luck. Daytona killed me. I picked up and dumped Marlin at a perfect time and dumped JJ at the right time. But got burned by Biffle and Edwards a few times. Final results for this segment got me 57th place overall. I was 55th before last weeks race and 51st 4 weeks ago - 3pts away from the leaderboard. Not too shlabby. Toot, toot!
Last couple of years I blew chucks so bad that a barge had to push 'em down the river.
NovaSS 05-18-2005, 12:15 PM - Joe Nemechek isn't affraid to admit when he made a mistake, unlike Jimmie Johnson
Are you hinting that JJ caused that 25 car-pile up at Talledega? C'mon, it was clearly Jr's fault. He rammed the 4 (in the near to right rear), the 4 slid left to the 48, the 48 moved left then right, back to the 4.
- Racing is becoming more and more like wrestling with every race
I wrote that same thing here on HT a few years ago and you guys mocked me.
- Michael Waltrip can still promote stuff better than the next guy
And he still looks like a donkey. Sorry Connie, but sexiest driver? Eeesh!
thats ok, to each his own, like I said I like mikey for other reasons besides his looks. But really who is sexy? Khane? Busch? newman? Gawd, that would be like looking at my little brother or something! All these 13-15, errr I mean 18-25 year olds, I like my men a bit more mature :)
I admit one of the things I like about Mikey is he's different looking. The Nascar guys are kind of like new cars, they all look the same! Then you see something different and it's kind of cool (but then again I liked the PT cruiser when it came out)
Dan4HW 05-20-2005, 12:31 AM Are you hinting that JJ caused that 25 car-pile up at Talledega? C'mon, it was clearly Jr's fault. He rammed the 4 (in the near to right rear), the 4 slid left to the 48, the 48 moved left then right, back to the 4.
Was hinting at the last accident actually combined with responses he has given about accidents in the past. Its not just Johnson, its alot of drivers that pussyfoot around responsibility. If you look at the 25 car pileup, Jr bumping the 4 car did nothing to affect johnson drifting up the track, If you watch and mind the position of the 31 car, the middle line did not love left at all, rather johnson was drifting up to enter the turn; he just went a little too far. The outside and middle lines didnt sway or move left at all that corner, unless im watching another race on tivo. And i fail to see a "ramming" of cars too, looked like a normal bump draft to me. The 25 car pile-up is a talledega incident, no ones true fault. But the last accident shouldnt have happened.
That entire race consisted of: peoplerambling about where DEI or Hendrick cars were and not commenting on how Jamie McMurray and Jimmie Johnson where slaming into people almost every lap, OR the strong runs by some other drivers.
I cant believe no one even mentioned the gross ignorance of the #42 after or during the race.
But oh well. That race is long over. charlotte this week and next week, any picks?
Swifty 05-22-2005, 02:30 AM - Kevin harvick has really matured and RCR seems to have a really good program starting up

http://www.nascar.com/2005/news/headlines/cup/05/21/tstewart.challenge.wreck/index.html
Harvick and Nemechek don't appear to be overly happy with one another right now. It also appears that Nemechek did not cause the wreck and that Harvick doesn't care and wishes to take it out on ol' Joe.
Looks like I may have missed a thrilling race tonight. But Bill skipped it, and so did I.
Dan4HW 05-22-2005, 04:28 PM I missed race too swifty, saw a recap on the news and a *bleep*over part of joe's camera interview...wonder if nascar will fine him? NASCAR didnt seem to care about kurt bush cursing and throwing water bottles AT officials a few weeks ago.
But yes, seemed like an exciting race we missed, good to hear that mark won it in a sentimental way. It's sad to see kevin lost his cool, he had kept his temper under control for the most part this year(which i was fairly impressed with the level of maturity him and his team held themselves to compared to previous years).
It's the all-star race. Everybody is going for it. Everybody is trying to win," Kahne said. "You try to do whatever you can to get up front and things are going to happen.
Well said.
