"In 1969, Mercury sunk it's claws into the pony-car market literally and figuratively, by introducing the sleek Cougar Eliminator. The horizontally ribbed grille included hidden headlamps, but lest you thought the cat was sleeping, the growling from beneath the hood proved otherwise. A number of high-powered engine options were available, and the cat's "pelt" was available in four different factory colors. This "road animal" got it's claws into many muscle car enthusiasts!"

in the TRU special releases of the '69 cougar there is a kinda butternut yellow and a blue (like the one i posted pics of), each production of 1700 pieces....on the shelf today i found two of the yellow ones, one blue and one blue chrome (which i have with me)....i love the interior detail as well as the detail under the hood and in the trunk....it has alabama plates "heart of dixie"....

Never saw a 69 Eliminator with twisting hood locks. They either had the pins with the cable or nothing. Nice car. I would prefer the yellow one.

This is strange ... Ertl already did the 69 Eliminator in Blue met & Yellow in the Collector series ( 1 of 5000 ) . They also did the Eliminator in White & Orange in the regular run . So if these TRU specials are the same colors , they are repeats except for the Chase cars . The other ones had chrome chase cars - which Ive yet to find , & probably wont find the TRU ones either !

Checked TRU a couple times since I saw this post . Nothin new of course ! The 1/18 shelves are clogged with the Joyride TRU customs & Austin Powers cars .....

Gadzooks!

In the sunlight the Chrome Car looks more like a metal flake blue. Just picked mine up today. Awesome piece! I'm wondering if they made a mistake on the price.
I paid $19.99. ERTLs at the other TRUs were marked at $39.99. I'm befuddled!

Gadzooks n' Egads!

Someone on E-Pay is selling the blue chrome Eliminator Cougar. He's placed the
chase production at 200 cars.

I have both the blue and yellow TRU chrome chases. Couldn't find them in the stores, had to get them off e-pay. Now if I could only find the Black chrome limited edition, I'd have the cougar chase set. Oh, btw, TRU chase cars are 5% or less of the total production run. Do the math and grab 'em if you see them (at TRU). Thanks, Stephen
