View Full Version : Longroof Mercury is here!
ParkRNDL 05-08-2005, 06:54 PM I've always wanted a couple of station wagon bodies for Tjets, and not long ago I found a diecast that was a perfect fit--the old Playart police/fire chief Mercury. I showed it to Claus as a potential resin master, and, well, if you've been following this board, you've seen the outstanding wood-paneled version he did recently. Well, I got a couple of them, and here's the first one I mounted on a chassis. It appears to be perfectly in scale with the Aurora XL500 in the pics...

It's kind of eerie driving it around the track, almost as if the green Matchbox Mercury Commuter wagon I had as a kid magically came to life...

Cool, huh? Thanks Claus!!!

It is great that people do resin casts of cars besides "race" cars...

Man I can still hear my dad saying "Don't make me stop this car and come back there..."
Claus has another winner in my eyes. Keep up the great craft.

clausheupel 05-09-2005, 04:44 AM Hi Rick,
Iīm glad you seem to enjoy the stuff I sent you! :-) The lime one looks cool, especially in addition to the old Matchbox diecast! Err, didnīt you say you were busy over the weekend with your daughterīs first Communion? Looks llike you managed to escape the crowd for an hour or two...? :-)))
In the meantime my first cast (the blue wooden paneled one I already posted here a couple of weeks ago) mutated from a family wagon to a funky surf-o-mobile (retractable rear windows are a feature I miss on todayīs station wagons!):

And thatīs how another one that I did for a friend of mine turned out:

I usually donīt like that kind of color, but salmon isnīt too bad for a 60īs car, eh?
@ Sott and Jeff: Thanks for the nice comments!
