Hey everybody, has anybody here ever put a faller body on a t-jet chassis? I was told they do not fit right. I would like to put a porsche 911 body on one. Are they longer or shorter or what? Would a JLTO chassis work better? Kevin

I dunno about all bodies and wheelbase positions, but I know of at least one that's off. I have a Faller Mercedes 230 SL (like this one (http://home.wxs.nl/~moerm043/faller/mb230.jpg), but white with a black roof) that i wanted to put on a Tjet chassis.
Problem 1: the wheelbase is wrong. The Tjet short wheelbase is a little too short, and the long is a little too long. The short one is close enough that it looks okay, but it's not quite right. Actually, a JL chassis would probably line the wheels up better since it's just a hair longer, but then you'd probably still want to install narrow little Tjet wheels to fit them in the wheelwells. It's made more complicated, though, by:
Problem 2: the screw posts don't line up at all. After putting the Tjet axle in the short wheel base position, I had to modify the chassis to get it to fit, since I din't want to hack on a nice body. I drilled a new hole for the front body screw through both the guide pin and the chassis. The new hole is BETWEEN the old hole and the actual "blade" of the pin, the screw head just about touches the blade. BTW, the Faller bodies use different screws... they're brass, the threaded part is narrower, and the head is wide and flat. I happened to have one around, so I used it. The rear screw post doesn't work either, it's longer and there are pins on either side of it to help position the body or stabilize it or something... I cut the notch on the rear of the chassis wide enough that the whole body post fits snugly in it, and it's like a press fit with no screw. If I remember correctly, I also cut little slots for the positioning pins or whatever they are.
It all worked out, but it required a bunch of chassis hacking. I took pictures of the whole deal after I did it... when I get home, I'll try to get them posted here. I would imagine the Porsche body will have similar mounting problems... I'd actually LOVE to get hold of a Faller Ford Capri (http://home.wxs.nl/~moerm043/faller/capri.jpg)and Faller BMW 2000 CS (http://home.wxs.nl/~moerm043/faller/bmw1.jpg)and figure out how to get them on Tjet chassis... they're all over Fleabay Germany, but most of the sellers will ship only to Europe and they generally wind up pretty salty even before shipping anyway...
BTW, if you want to check out more pics of Fallers, here's the site where I'm finding them...
