Any Ideas on this? I think Finemolds makes THE BEST ACCURATE Star Wars kits. I would like to see a 1/72 scale Falcon with their attention to detail. I have the Ertl Kit, But would love a truely accurate version of this Ship.

I was told several months ago by an online retailer that the Millennium Falcon (in 1/72 scale) is supposed to be the next Star Wars release by Fine Molds, but I haven't seen, heard, or read anything official that would substantiate his statement.

I too think this would be an amazing kit, and I sincerely hope it happens. But considering how long it took for them to release the Slave I, even if they started a year ago it would probably be another 10 years before we see even a prototype! :p

Of course, it would be worth the wait...

yea but i bet it would cost about $200 bucks with they way they charge for their kits !

Naw, it probably wouldn't cost much more than an MPC/AMT/Ertl kit and a set of aftermarket accurization parts combined. :p

Easy as cake, Zman.
Seriously, I'm not even all that big a SW fan anymore, but I'd pay $200 for an accurate 1:72 Falcon without a second thought. Not cheap, but the value would be there.
Especially if it had a nice interior.
And was ready to light.

Finemolds OFICIALLY announced a new 1/72 model from ROTS...

http://www.sala.or.jp/~fm/shsnew05.jpg

It says:

"A new "Star Wars" item will be revealed at the Shizuoka Hobby Show! It is a test show however. Please look forward to it."

No news about the subject, by now, but soon we will know.

For my, itīs the Falcon... Oh, What a GLORIOUS model it will be ! :D

Unfortunately, I don't think the Falcon makes an appearance in R.O.T.S., or, at least, not the version we all know from the classic trilogy--which, of course, was slightly different in each film anyway. :freak: It will be interesting to see what Fine Molds is planning to release.

AMT is supposedly releasing their version of Obi-wan's and Anakin's Jedi Starfighters. Hopefully they'll be better than the Revell Germany pre-painted looks-too-much-like-a-toy versions. Then again, with AMT's track record...

I hear it might be a Corellian Corvette, aka Rebel Blockade Runner...

That would make sense. A lot of kit builders have been asking for that one since A New Hope, and it is featured in Episode III. I'd still prefer the Falcon, but I'll probably pick one up if it is the Corellian Corvette.

YES!!!

Now the question is...will it be as highly anticipated as the PL Refit? Enquiring minds want to know...

Scot from HLJ told Linda at SSM that the kit will have 800 parts. Every greeblie is separate!

To be honest, I am more excited about the release of the Millinium Falcon. In fact the money I was going to use to purchase the Refit will now be put aside for the Falcon .Although I may at some point pick up the Refit, I like the TV Series Enterprise. The design on the film version is overrated. I am a Trek man to the core, There is and never will be anything like the original.Plus I think the Finmolds kit wil be the Most accurate film, Sci-fi model ever.I am ready to preorder right now.

I'd do the same thing if I didn't already have the Refit. :D Guess I'll just have to come up with the cash to pay whatever they're gonna ask for the Falcon.

Now...what'll I do with my two AMT/Ertl Falcons and the sidewall/cockpit kit from Falconkits?

I've made a model into 800 parts before, but this will be the first time I've done the opposite!

I have a feeling that those of us that said we'd pay >$100+ for a MF kit are going to have the chance to put our money where our mouths are.

Poor Jack, and after all that time he spend repopping the masters and such.

Poor Jack, and after all that time he spend repopping the masters and such.No kidding. I think I had to wait for two years, while he went through the process of finding a new vendor, before I could order a simple set of sidewalls and a cockpit, and I still had a hell of a time getting those! Apparently I was lucky to receive them, cuz I understand they've become impossible to get once again.

You know, That's the most frustrating thing about Inaccurate kits. Having to buy add-on parts to make it accurate. Sometimes spending more money than the kit! Now I am not knocking Jacks parts, I am sure he did a lot of research on his stuff, But unless you had access to THE REAL PROP,SPACESHIP,ROBOT ETC......it is all Guess work. Ertl had some access but due to cost, blah, blah, blah, Their kit is not accurate. An easy thing like the cockpit dividers IS STILL WRONG! Anyhoo, Finmolds got ALL their info from the actual filming Miniature. So 99.99% of their kit is going to be accurate. The proof is in the pudding. Just check out their X-Wing and Tie-fighter! Another plus is I believe Finemolds loves this stuff as much as we do!!

Now I am not knocking Jacks parts, I am sure he did a lot of research on his stuff, But unless you had access to THE REAL PROP, SPACESHIP, ROBOT, ETC......it is all Guess work.True, but once it's built it will still be a better representation of the Falcon than it would if the original less-accurate kit parts were used. I know the purists would disagree with that, but unless you had access to a complete and accurate list of parts, paints, and materials used, and a diagram/blueprint of their exact placement and/or usage, it would be impossible to build an exact replica anyway. The most that any of us can hope to accomplish is to build something that is reasonably accurate and representational of the original.

Then, of course, there's the whole argument about which version of the Falcon they're trying to re-create; is it Episode IV, V, or VI? :freak: No matter what Fine Molds does, they'll never please everyone. Someone will still find fault with something on the kit and get upset because they'll have to modify it, and I'd guess Jack ran into the same problem.

Don't get me wrong here, Paul, I'm not trying to be argumentative. I understand exactly what you're saying. But after seeing the lousy and highly inaccurate parts Ertl stuck us with, Jack's Falcon parts might as well have been made from pure gold for those of us who lack the skills and/or resources to scratchbuild more accurate replacement parts.

Ertl had some access but due to cost, blah, blah, blah, their kit is not accurate. An easy thing like the cockpit dividers IS STILL WRONG! Anyhoo, Finemolds got ALL their info from the actual filming Miniature. So 99.99% of their kit is going to be accurate. The proof is in the pudding. Just check out their X-Wing and Tie-fighter! Another plus is I believe Finemolds loves this stuff as much as we do!!I couldn't agree more. I'm sure some of the staff at Ertl loves this stuff as much as we do, but the bottom line is the company is in it to make a buck, and at the time these kits were released Ertl had no competitors manufacturing Star Wars kits, so they didn't have to be the most accurate. Also, at the time the Star Wars kits from the "classic" trilogy were released, there didn't seem to be such a demand for highly accurized kits like there is today (my how times have changed!). And this line was marketed mostly for younger builders who didn't have such discerning tastes. Fine Molds, on the other hand, not only seems as interested in these kits as we are, but they have made a reputation for themselves in the industry as being a producer of highly accurate kits, so they have that reputation to uphold.

FM's version is from Episode V 'The Empire Strikes Back'
(it's the one I'd want! So I'm happy.)
