CLASSIC HOBBIES - AKRON, OHIO

Summer racing schedule is on Saturday's doors opening at 11:00 and racing starts at 5:00 PM

Track is 285' center line and approx 265' runline - 14' lanes
Surface - Asphalt (new as of May '03) - Very smooth

Tires - Foams (Typically Purple LF, Double Purple RF)
(If track is loose then use Green or Aqua rears, if bite comes up Pinks and Purples work)

Tire dope:
Trinity Tire Tweak, Trinity Red Dot are most common

There is plenty of space if you have a trailer or EZ up Canopy (if you pit outside you will need tables and chairs and extension cords)

Or you can pit inside, tables are provided.

Also Walt put new lights up, looks like a baseball stadium now. Very bright for the mains under the lights !!!

Zig... I cant make it anytime soon, like the next few weeks. My family is coming into town from Florida at the end of the month so I guess this month is out but hopefully the first or second week in July.

Well the rains held off for a fun night of racing.

Super tight field. All 7 in the A main were within a lap of Ron Mick's TQ pace of 41 4:05. Ron is the man to beat, right now has a really good looking car and has the tire thing figured out.

In the main Ron and Ricky Liehr tangled about on lap 7 or so, which let me get ahead in clean air. Joel Biro who got hung up early as well made a hard charge late and thought he would run me down but he caught the grass in the back shoot with a couple laps to go.

Tonight's main was anybody's race to win, with most of the guys running similar lap times. Dave Messenger had a rocket ship car, but never got a clean run in qualifying to make the show and Rick White in the 3rd qualifer was the only one to finish on 5.9's all night. Way to go Rick !!!

Well boys, hate to say this but it looks like Saturday might be a no go. The rain came today and blew my plans for getting everything done for the week. Im gonna try like hell and mow like crazy tomorrow but dont see 20+ yards getting mowed in one day. I will have to take a rain check. ( No pun intended )

I will talk to Walt this Saturday and get a firm date.

Also just throwing this out there, but the last 2 years the 2 biggest classes have been Stock and Mod.
19T turnout in 2003 was 8 and only 3 in 2004. Should we drop 19T and focus on getting a big turnout for stock and mod?

We have some new racers so we might even throw in a novice/Busch type stock class for them so they can experience a big race atmosphere.

Let me know your thoughts before presenting it to Walt.
Once we get a date, I will work up a flyer and post it.
