The gasket set for my 5hp B&S came with two case gaskets, I'm assuming the white and buff colored gaskets are spacers and are immaterial. I've always used only one gasket with permatex on both sides. Does anybody know the poop on the multiple gaskets? Thanks in advance! :)

The gaskets are two different thicknesses and you should only use one of them. The gasket kits come with multple gaskets because some engines need less gasket thickness to take up end play in the crankshaft. Generally you can just stick with the grey/black colored gasket, but if there is alot of end play you will need to use one of the thinner gaskets.

BTW, you do not want to use permatex on these gaskets because it will make the crankcase leak. You just need to make sure that the mating surfaces are clean.
