I am overhauling my lawn tractor motor using the B&S repair manual for single cylinder OHV Engines. They say that when installing the value to use their special value guide lubricate on the value guides. My question is does it really make a difference what kind of lubricant is used on the guides, and if so is there a substitute such as STP Honey oil or an oil with some silicon or just plain motor oil. To order their lub costs $9.00 and for what quantity I don't know. The lawn repair shop down the street says it cost so much because it Briggs. Since this is probably the only time I will use it seems like a waste.
Thanks for your input.

regular assembly lube would do fine, not motor oil since it doesn't stick in place
