Bob Wright 04-23-2005, 08:10 PM I use GM Top Engine cleaner to clean and as a tracton compound until the tires are broken in.3-5 runs on our track. After that I use tire buffer to clean up the tires after a run and a mix of GM and buffer for traction compound. mcRacing 04-23-2005, 08:34 PM just use the stuff BSR makes burbs 04-23-2005, 10:08 PM the bsr stuff works well. but most of us feel the tire buffer. (ruber cleaner) works the same.. you get a huge can for the same price as the small bsr can.. i have the same buffer can i bought 3 years ago.. im guessing i got another 2-3 left in it... the gm top engine cleaner works very well.. but it is more agressive... i prefer a mix when the track is a bit colder.. and when it is super hot buffer is the best... basically any rubber cleaner works well,, as long as it doesnt dry out the rubber.. kevina250 04-23-2005, 11:52 PM I use GM top engine cleaner when the tires are new or needing waking up. After that Stick-it tire traction. Wipe it on one wheel at a time after your run and immediatelly wipe it off with a clean rag. Takes all the dead rubber off and a fresh clean tire. Works great on asphalt tracks also. DK47 04-24-2005, 07:45 AM Same as Kevin,Stik-it and GM! pepe 04-25-2005, 06:28 AM Who's got the stick it? 98Ron 04-25-2005, 08:27 AM AAA handled the last time I was there jake86 04-25-2005, 10:19 AM Who's got the stick it? I think you can get it at Rc4less. Craig 04-25-2005, 03:42 PM It's something JB and Butch make in the kitchen. Stik-et or something like that. rowdyrj 04-25-2005, 05:03 PM I use WD-40 to clean my tires off with and have been ever since I raced touring cars. davz 04-26-2005, 07:20 AM What is tire buffer, and where do you get it? Barooose 04-26-2005, 08:32 AM Fleet Farm or somewhere similar. It is used for buffing inner tubes so patches will stick properly. Around here the brand is "Camel" if I remember correctly. I use GM to break-in tires and when it's cold, otherwise I use the buffer. Just keep the GM capped or all the good stuff will evaporate out and all you'll be left with is the oils. wade 04-26-2005, 02:01 PM Question about compounds ??? Maybe John's monitering this thread and can help. I know the Pink has changed and is no longer as hard a compound. But I have heard conflicting opions on where it falls now. Is it Red, Pink, Green, Blue. Or is Red, Green, Pink, Blue ???? Just wondering Wade rickk5 04-26-2005, 02:59 PM At One Time It Went Under The Brand Name Of Rub-o-matic Also jake86 04-26-2005, 03:04 PM Question about compounds ??? PanMan 04-26-2005, 04:17 PM This "rubber buffer" that everyone is talking about - is it a chemical or a tool used to buff the rubber? A Camel tire patch kit has a buffer in it but it looks almost like a cheese grater. I'm confused about this "rubber buffer" term. Please explain. Thanks. Kevin Barooose 04-26-2005, 04:56 PM It is a liquid usually sold in a quart can. Put a little on a rag and wipe the dirt and dead rubber off your tire. Follow all precautions on the can, this is especially true of the GM Cleaner. I.ve been using both for years though and I'm normal..........well, okay, bad analogy. John has also stated that it is the closest thing to spec caps. __________________ Brent Pearcy Bulit Motorsports (http://www.bulitmotorsports.com/), TQCells (http://www3.sympatico.ca/tqcells/), BSR Racing Tires (http://www.bsr-racing.com/), SROC Racing (http://www.geocities.com/s_roc_racing) JB 04-27-2005, 06:07 PM CraigP: Your wrong!! Butch does not make "STICK-E.T." in the kitchen, it's all done at the still out back. Get your facts straight. As an answer to the previous question: Stick-E.T. (E.T. Extra Traction) comes in Foam, TC and Capped tire tractions. There is also a surperb tire cleaner that cleans and conditions tires. Stick-E.T. has been in production since 1995 and has won more National titles than you can shake a "stick" at. (no pun intended). This includes ARCOR, ROAR and NORRCA, Legends, 4C Spec, 21T Limited, 19T "0", 19T Mod, Sportsman Stock, Expert Stock, Stock and Open Modified. AND...it's "indoor friendly" :p Where do you get it? That's already been answered. :) kevina250 04-27-2005, 11:30 PM Get it guys. It's good stuff. Butch let me try some in 99 at BMS and I was hooked. I would really like to see the steel though. Haven't seen one in a while since my uncle had one. TnOvalRacer 04-28-2005, 01:51 PM I tried several from diffferent manufacturers....stik-et....etc.....NOw I'm using the plain old lighter fluid to clean my capped tires, put a little on a clean wash cloth and rubbed it thru the tires, it condition as well and keep the rubber soft. Works just like the rest but cheaper & no fumes. I also run it through the tire truer to scrape the worn rubber and put a light grove on the surface for better traction. Plus I have a Trinity Digital Tire Warmers that I use after cleaning with the lighter fluid and truing. It is flammable so keep it away from your soldering irons !!!!!! davz 04-28-2005, 04:23 PM Question about compounds ??? Maybe John's monitering this thread and can help. WAYNERCRACER 04-30-2005, 10:48 PM Just Go To Any Automotive /walmart/ Tire Repair Section And You Will Find It There--------its What They Use The Prior To Patching Tires Or Tubs latemodel100 05-01-2005, 05:40 AM I love Stick ET is working good on non controlled surface over here, got to get more........... John Foister 05-02-2005, 07:56 PM Wade....pink does seem to fall inbetween red and green. My pink cpmpound has turned out to be a very good compound for asphalt tracks, especially ones with little banking. Craig 05-02-2005, 08:18 PM CraigP: Your wrong!!
