ptown20 04-19-2005, 12:15 PM Big news for the CustomWorks race on June 25th.....
Stock and 19-Turn classes:
$250 to win, 100 for 2nd, 50 for 3rd, all the way to last place in the "A" is 25!!!
Also the top two finishers in the B main for both these classes will BUMP to the "A"!
To keep the show smooth, the B Mains will run first, then other mains, then the A's
Plus this year, Nitro Sprint cars will be racing as well. Other classes include Sportsman (novice) and Spec Stock (spec motor, batt, brush) which will race for 1st thru 3rd place trophys.
ALL Entries are $25! There will be first come/first serve covered pits for roughly 40 racers, it is suggested to bring a table, chair and extension cord. Trailers/Campers are welcome but please bring your own power. There will be a BBQ on site and fast food joints are within a mile of the track as well as the hotels
TJ Domark 04-19-2005, 01:05 PM How about some track info... or a web link? Thanks
ptown20 04-19-2005, 05:34 PM The track is located in Seaford, Delaware ( about 40 miles south of Dover Downs on RT. 13. It's a 355' asphalt tri-oval with slight banking - as smooth as any track I've ever seen. Entry forms will be available in about a week.track pics here: http://www.geocities.com/billdernberger/index.html
Mr.fastman 04-19-2005, 09:26 PM Is it time yet?
VA.RACER 04-21-2005, 08:40 PM PTOWN, I hope to be able to make the race this year.
I have a question on which rules you go by, Arcor, orl or what?
Will the new cells be legal?
Thanks
ptown20 04-21-2005, 10:35 PM As to the rules: 4 - cell Stock 3300's -- 4 - cell 19 turn 3800's will be legal. Stock motors will have to be ROAR legal. I will have the 19t rules next week after the Carpet Nat's.
Mr.fastman 04-21-2005, 10:45 PM Last years race was great and this year looks to be even better.
Doug p
JH Racing 04-22-2005, 08:39 PM This year will be even better now that I will be running and Aggresser!!!!!!
Mr.fastman 04-24-2005, 07:18 AM For anyone whose never been to this race before. This race is one of the best races on the east coast and the track is first class. The track has a pit road to get on and off the track, a huge drivers stand, great lighting, plenty off pit space, lots of AC power. The track surface is excellent, very smooth, it was resurfaced 2 or 3 years ago.

BEACH 04-24-2005, 09:49 AM How about some track info... or a web link? Thanks
T.J. One word.....awesome. This is a great place to race at. I wish they ran weekends instead of friday, or I would be there alot!
Paul, I am going to send you a PM...Thanks, Jim
I thought we went by ROAR rules?? And if so 36,37 or 3800's would not be legal.
bologna 04-24-2005, 04:42 PM to bad about the batt rules no way am i buying cells for one race if i dont know if they will become roar approved
Alan Behler 04-24-2005, 04:45 PM i have heard that the gp 3300 may be hard to find by the end of the summer
i guess they are going to force these new batts legal
i also think the batt. rules should be 3300's and lower
that is what most of the people have!
BEACH 04-24-2005, 05:21 PM I have been told that the 3300's are not in production any longer?
Mr.fastman 04-24-2005, 05:27 PM I was told that the 3700's and 3800's will be ROAR approved later this year. Most of the big name matchers are pretty much done with 3300's. There have already been a # of races this year where these were used.
bologna 04-24-2005, 06:03 PM but the fact of the matter is that they wont be approved by the race date because sept is when the do the approval proccess.. i would love to come down because you say and the pic of this track are great and kocher says he loves the place but ill be damed if i buy cells before i know what will be the best out there for 2006.. not trying to cause a uproar but i feel you will loose guys to batt wars this early in the year. see ya soon doug at mushroom bowl if not before...
ps Al call me we need to get your butt out of that new house and do some racing with us guys
JH Racing 04-24-2005, 08:01 PM I think batteries are like life it is all about change also I think we are running 3300's up till te race and at the race yo can run 37 and 3800's correct me if am wrong your going to have to buy Batts sooner or later that's my cent and a half. Jason H.
ptown20 04-24-2005, 08:14 PM THIS HAS BEEN REVISED 4-CELL STOCK 3300'S 4-CELL 19 TURN 3800'S
The reason we are going to 3800's for the state race is very simple. 3300's are being discountinued and alot of racers get new packs for big events like this. I think all the racers would rather spend their money on the latest thing available and not have to buy so-so 3300's that are discountinued.
bologna 04-24-2005, 08:50 PM but lets see 3 mo after this race when the orl comes to town 3300s must be used... what are you going to be doing then
Bill Auchterlonie 04-24-2005, 11:59 PM I'm cunfused. I understand and have read about the fact that 3300's are going to be discontinued. However with this race six weeks away I wonder how many of the stock racers thinking about attending this race currently have 3600 and higher cells. I have done zero research on any of these cells so I guess I will have to do a crash coarse and hope I buy the hot cell. Since I already have and can still purchase good cells off the internet (3300's)would like to see them be the limit,,,at least in the stock class. I think the use of higher milli-amp cells may hurt attendance. Most of the ORL racers many of which would probably attend wont if they feel handicapped running there 3300's. They dont need to re-tool until the 2006 series begins. You could also argue if your running by ROAR rules that 3300's are the limit until 2006.Just something to think about and its good that this thread has been started so there wont be any unhappy racers at the event. Or at least no curve balls where nobody knew what was and wasn't legal until they got to the race.
BEACH 04-25-2005, 07:26 AM Bill, you raise a very good point. I know in all my years of racing, GOOD cells when they are released are "ISSUED" to team drivers, and not many hit the market,BUT, when old cells are phased out, the good cells are readily available to all.
Paul does raise also a good point, "MOST" guys will most likely be buying new cells before the next years racing starts. The question is, will guys buy cells just before this race? I also think they decision of other cells for this race MAY hurt attendance.
Jim
Alan Behler 04-25-2005, 07:38 AM brock,
i move next weekend. i have enjoyed my time off but i will be back soon
R Gulliver 04-25-2005, 07:43 AM The battery rule is very disappointing. All the racers have 3300`s,few have 36,37,or 3800`s. You are forcing racer`s to buy batteries to run one event, then let those batteries sit on the shelf until whenever they become approved by the major sanctioning bodies. This is asking a lot of the racers whom travel any distance to attend. They need to pay for a hotel and now buy new packs to be competitive. This is going to hurt the turnout for this event. This is just my opinion. I love to race at Seaford. It is my home track during the outdoor season. I only want this decision to be looked at from all aspects before it possibly becomes the issue that makes people come and race or stay away from this event.
ptown20 04-25-2005, 07:49 AM Would everyone be in agreement if we limit 4 - cell stock to 3300's and leave the 19 turn open. Just a question as I have to get this approved by the club. Make sense to me (remember I'm only the messenger)
Paul
Bill Auchterlonie 04-25-2005, 09:23 AM That puts a smile on my face like having a pocket full of singles in a topless night club. Hey baby papa's home.
Seriously if I can for a minute (my ridlin in kicking in now) I followed on line the thread covering the ROAR nationals out in Ohio this past weekend. There was one guy that bitched alot about the handout motors used in the stock class. Basically his point was that the motor wasn't competitive outside that handout race thus they should have used a monster or epic. This was his reasoning for not attending the race. I would be disappointed if the battery rule presented similar issues with the bottom line being a poor turn out.
Paul I think your idea of 3300's as a limit for the stock class is a right on the money (refer to top sentence).
Like Ray said this is my local track which I will support by racing there,,,,as long as they will have me. I think its going to be a banner season and with the prize mula a killer State Race.
While I'm at it I want to make mention of some of the off season work put forward by Paul and Bill Durinbergermisterburger. These guys and a couple of others who's names escape me have started a web site, organized fund raisers, track clean up,and collected almost a dozen sponsors for this seasons state race. None of which I was a part of (sorry guys). Thank you for keeping racing alive in Seaford Delaware.
ptown20 04-25-2005, 10:44 AM After dicussing this with our main sponsor we will change the battery rule to the folowing: 4-cell stock 3300's 4-CELL 19 turn 3800's. We want this to be a great race and after reading a couple of comments it was obvious we needed to change the stock battery rule. This puts us in line with the ORL rule for stock and that's where alot of the stock racers will come from.
Paul
Arnie Fie 04-25-2005, 03:47 PM To all: The intial idea to make 3800's legal was due to the simple fact that currently no one is matching 3300's and what is available right now is the last of the cases that any matcher ordered. So basically we were gaging that if anyone wanted to buy a new pack for the race, and 3300's were the max legal, they would be buying cells that you know already won't be as good as what will be legal in the next few months.
Since this race is simply governed by the host club, we have the ability to "make most everyone happy" without jumping thru some other governing bodies hoops. All we want to do is put together a race everyone wants to attend to have fun and win.
3300's for stock 3800's for 19turn
SMROCKET 04-25-2005, 04:00 PM Arnie Congrats on your win in OHIO , Now to the business at hand ....MODIFED needs to make a comeback at the DELAWARE state race ......With the new 3700 and 3800 modified racing will make a comeback .....I willl come and race anyways but MOD on that track is awesome ......

Will Steck be making the trip?
Al Spina Fan 04-26-2005, 07:44 PM Bill Macaroni,
I booked a room at the Hampton Inn for you and Tina on the 24th. Figured since we are making your house the host location of the first annual pre race drunken idiot party, you and tina would want a quiet place to sleep.
P.S. What's the address, just need it for the dancing girl reservations.
Thanks in advance,
Al Spina
BEACH 04-26-2005, 10:10 PM Stock for me buddy, and I will see how many I can round up. STECK? I will see if I can get him out of retirement. Later, Beach
ptown20 04-27-2005, 07:50 PM We need everyone to pass along the change in batteries. We don't want anyone to miss this race because we where looking to far ahead. We saw the writting on the wall ( well actually on the web) and made the necessary changes and now we want to be sure everyone knows about it.
