Ok, since I have been out of the hobby for a bit. I was wondering if some folks could posts some PROS and CONS for each of these........ I'm debating on which one to buy. The car will be ran at Rush and Son and BMS the most. Any info appreciated.........

From what I see...it's like a FORD vs. CHEVY thing...

BOTH are Awesome Cars, BOTH are WINNING races, Which one do you like better?

The KSG looks to be more fragile to me...but I haven't seen any real problems with them failing.

So, how many friends you have running each one to give different ideas on set up tips...would probably be a factor...along with the "SPARE PARTS" issue...which one will be easier to FIX if you break it and are out of town...

I can tell you Hyperdrive will be the easiest on spare parts, and is no where near as fragile as a ksg.

I am biased ,,,,But If I was going to race at BMS the home track of the McKellans ,I would buy the KSG car and get help from the factory guys .....There is nothing wrong with the other car just more support at BMS for the KSG car .....

KennyB, do like I did get one of each, KSG & Hyperdrive, I ran the KSG last weekend at Little Talladega, I have been out of the hobby for many years myself, it helped that most of the drivers were on KSG cars and willing to help me out with my setup, because the set up I showed up with was totally off for that track, I finally got to where I could drive the car and get out of the way of the fast guys. Brandon was upset with his Hyperdrive all day but he still blew me off the track, I think he has some new things to try on his red car this weekend, if he has some good results, I might run mine next time. Rush & Son has plenty of parts for KSG, Hyperdrive & Custom works cars, but I do agree, it's like the Ford vs. Chevy or Alabama vs. Auburn thing, which ever one you like the best, good luck.

I got friends that run them both. I just wanted a wider view of the two. I am partial to the Hyperdrive. I had my first hyperdrive back in 90, only one to make the A-Main at the Nats in Arkansas in 93. Not to toot my own horn, but I ran the big Hyperdrive shock on the sides with standoffs that made the shocks almost parallel like they are today. I sent the pictures of it to Burch, Jr after the race and he wasn't impressed, but look at the cars today. It's kinda like "self-satisfaction". It's nice to know NOW that I was heading in the right direction THEN.....lol.....

I think I can design these suckers alot better than I can drive them :)

Like Rocket said I am biased, but I have run both cars.

I have won races with both of the cars. They both are very good cars. But within the past year we (Ricky and I) left Hyperdrive and went to KSG.

Honestly they both are great cars. What most of the fast locals run is what I would get if I were you. I know Andy, Johnny, and Marty are all very fast down at BMS on KSG's. I know Brandon S. is fast with his Hyper in stock.

But you asked for pros and cons.

PROS for the KSG
easier to get fast faster
company is right there at BMS
most of the locals run KSG
cool blue anodizing
Great people!!!

PROS for the HD
durable
company is in Tenn
cool red anodizing
Great people!!!

Cons for the KSG
durability (but like anything if you hit hard enough it will break!)

Cons for HD
takes a little longer to get tuned in

Like I said right now I have a somewhat biased opinion, but I have run both cars, for both companies, and done well with both of them. Both companies are owned by great people and both have great teams. But I can only say that after 5 or 6 years with Hyperdrive we switched to KSG.

Hope this helps!

in my response I said it was like a FORD vs. CHEVY thing...

I am not biased toward either of these cars, being a CALIFORNIA guy I run a West Coast Car (Assoc. L4)

So the above comparison should have been a Dodge vs Chevy thing...cause I run a FORD....LOL

With SOOOO many choices of AWESOME cars, I don't know how ANYONE is supposed to decide. Other than RUN what your LOCALS run if you want assistance, RUN what YOU want..if you dare to be different. But MOST of ALL Support the companies who SUPPORT OVAL RACING...the BEST R/C Racing there is

I really appreciate the info on the pro's and cons......everything is helpful.

I believe the KSG cars run the solid chassis at BMS and not the slider. Hyperdrive racers use the Pro ll car at BMS (soild chassis). Not sure about Rush and Son as to what chassis either of the cars are running. This could be something to think about when getting a car. What chassis is used at the tracks (solid or slider)? I to may be at Rush and Son for the NORRCA Nat's can anyone tell me what chassis and set up is used for a KSG?

What class are you running. There are as many hyper drives running a BMS as there are ksg's. 3 track records are held with KSG's and 3 with Hyperdrive.

What about Custom Works Aggressor. Any pros & cons ? I myself is looking for an oval car for BMS. Thanx for the info.

Are you prepared to deal with a custom works that almost no one else has? Where do you get parts for an aggressor?

As far as I'm concerned a KSG is a carpet car, I like the strength and adjustability of my Pro 2 Shorty, but I want a KSG for carpet this fall because it's light and I don't need 10,000 adjustments for carpet.

My -personal- preference:

KSG slider on the flat carpet tracks.

Hypdrive Pro 2 SSE anywhere there's banking and/or running on caps.

Up here there are a fair number of people with custom works cars. On flat carpet I've seen them run very well. A couple of guys looked like they really improved after they got one. I'm not sold on the car for capped racing though. I guess we'll see how people run this summer.

Personally I like my KSG better than the hyperdrives. I like the fact that the KSG is simpler but is just as fast as the hyperdrive everywhere. I also like that the KSG doesn't have 6 zillion different chassis variants. I go against the general grain and run my solid chassis indoors and the slider outdoors.

I had a KSG and now run SSE Pro2 (I used to run ADX slider) I was not able to get the KSG to where I wanted it to be and struggle with it for 2 seasons. But with Hyperdrive, out of the box, I was comfortable with it.......now if anyone can help me with my driving.....then I will be a happy camper(thats another thread)....LOL

At BMS last week, there was a guy running CW car and seems to be running fine. I had CW Dominator and didn't have problem aquiring parts. Iam sure it will be the same with Aggressor, the internet provides all the parts I can get. But, I think I will wait a little bit till Arnie & other guys do a test drive at BMS just like they did when they went to Greeneville weeks before the 'Birds, and get a set-up fine tuned for the Aggressor on high-bank oval. It seems that the CW car run good on carpet for now. Maybe the answere is the up and coming PRO3 !!!!!!!!

It's a myth that at BMS you can only get support for KSG! Yes Andy, Johnny and the gang show up pretty regular but for the most part, the pits are full of Hyperdrives and plenty of folks willing to share set up help for either one. Hyperdrives were blowing the stripes off the track in the 21T Limited Saturday night!!! The one fantastic option at BMS is that you WILL get help regardless of chassis manufacturer.........good friends ROCK!!!

JEEPNYY: I wish you wouldn't give up so early! LOL We won't be at BMS this weekend, but if you'll come by the trailer the next Saturday, I'd sure love to help you out on the driving part. Or, better than that......if there is an evening during the week when you can get to BMS, just let me know and we'll meet up there for some quieter practice and tuning. You WILL have this car rocking in no time!!

I,ve been running Hyperdrives for a lil over a year now and just love em! Bought a KSG to try out last summer, ran it once on carpet, nice car probably should have worked with it some more, I wound up tradeing it for another 0700 though ;) I now have 2 0700 sliders and a Pro 2 , waiting to see that Pro 3 soon!

at rush and son both cars are fast. outside the ksg are being a little bit more track friendly to get started, but a hyperdrive slider has track record in 19t. it is all according what you are used to and how you like a car to feel to me the cars drive completely different even with the same basic setups on them. the best thing to do is drive someones, if they will let you, and see how it feels.

I've been running hyperdrives for the past couple seasons, always been competitive. Recently picked up a KSG and ran it for the first time this weekend, it's better than the hyperdrive has ever been, with only two runs, and it will only get better with a little more tuning. I'm sold, I'll be running KSG's from now on. Running on banked track 185' center line, solid chassis.
