I threw this out on another slot car board a year or two ago, and it shook loose some neat memories, so here goes...
How many of you car nuts read stuff by Henry Gregor Felsen and other car-themed books to feed your car obsession when you were kids? I remember three called Hot Rod, Street Rod, and Crash Club, and I know there was a whole sub-genre of car books just like them. I think these are great side material to go with any collection of toy cars from the 60's... after all, if you were a kid playing with toy cars then, you were probably reading these too, and even acting out the stories with the toy cars...
Wow. I just noticed that the copyright of Street Rod, which I have sitting here on my desk, is 1953, so it kinda predates slot cars... Tjets came out 10 years later. I know I found them in my elementary school library around 1980, so they were antiques already, and i still loved them...
anyone?
