View Full Version : Apporval of new Cells........When?
toyowner 04-12-2005, 09:36 PM It looks as if 3300's are on the out When will new cells be Approved?
davepull 04-12-2005, 09:39 PM they have to be submitted by something like sept 30 of the current year and will be approved or not by the 31 oct. for competition in the following year.
so to answer you question it looks like most new cells won't be legal till 2006
Kenny B 04-13-2005, 10:39 PM New batteries were not submitted for timely approval last year. So for 2005, only 3300's are approved for ROAR competion.

That's great and all and I'm glad roar stand's by they're rule's. However what are we the racer's to do when it's only the 4 month of the year, And we still have 8 more months to go. And there isn't anymore 3300 cell's left. Everyone stop matching them and selling them.
So how do we address that problem?

I can appreciate your concern, however, I haven't seen the drop off in availability of the 3300 as of yet. Yes, many matchers have the 3600/3700 cells and are selling them, but they also have the 3300's. I see the tracks allowing the newer cells for club racing and non-sanctioned racing. I also know that there are 5 ROAR level 4 races left in 2005 that use electric power. My prognosis is there are enough 3300's to cover those events.
Kenny B 04-16-2005, 12:37 AM Please check with the manufacturers on correct submittals and timing. Too often we hear at ROAR we cave to manufacturers....well this rule has been in effect for the past three years. Ask them what you are to do. September 2005 is not that far away for the approval of 2006 cells.

EAMotorsports 04-16-2005, 09:04 PM Hey kenny,
What is ROAR going to do now that GP is closed down because for the next 6 months to clean up and the current crop of 3300's is exhausted? What happens IF you cant buy 3300's anymore this year?

Kenny B 04-18-2005, 01:20 AM Hey Eric,
I am sure it could be addressed but GP or their rep must make the request. All the manufacturers should contact us if there is a growing concern on availability. Requests should be forwarded to Fred Hohwart or Bob Ingersol.

davidl 04-18-2005, 01:43 PM I can add some additional thought. The size of the cells are required to conform to the international standard for a sub-C sized cell. Rumors indicate that GP has gone over the size limits with the 3700. Intellect is also looking to increase the size of their cell from the product offered as the IB3600. ROAR will be addressing the issues related to size. As it currently stands, the international size standard will be imposed, and those that are oversize, if any, will need to re-size their sub-C cells.
98Ron 04-21-2005, 04:58 PM i heard yesterday that at least one of the matchers is out of 3300. He only has the GP3700's available. This was second hand, but not suprising.
Rickity Racer 04-21-2005, 10:05 PM This is an easy one. Race ARCOR 19T Modiifed or Open Modified. No battery limitations!!! What's complicated about that??
hankster 04-21-2005, 11:41 PM I just talked to a battery matcher and they claim to have 20K GP3300 cells in stock. It's the GP3700s that are in short supply because of manufacturing problems. I think it is doomsayers that are bringing this subject up.
BTW, yes, the presently available GP3700 is outside the ROAR specs on size and I would suspect that includes all of race orgs. size rules too since they all base their sizes on the same International specs.
