View Full Version : New Gasser
JPRcustoms 04-06-2005, 02:27 PM JoeZ sent me this wild gasser body. It is popped from a Hot Wheels car. It had really cartoon-like headers, so they got removed and replaced with a set that I chopped off a HW Fiat 500C. I painted them silver and glued them on. It fits on a slim-line, but the placement of the front wheels set them too far back and close to the headers. To solve this problem, I glued in a length of aluminum tubing under the grill/motor joint, and ran a skinny pull-back front axel through it. It was a perfect fit for the "bicycle" front wheels/tires. (I cant remember where I got those wheels..DOH!) Out back, I used the rear wheels/tires from a Muscle Machines "Nitro Coupe" I swapped out the wider slim-line axel for a standard t-jet axel to get the wheels in closer to the body. I was trying to get the engine detailed, so I painted the blower belt black, pulley faces red, and then it hit me...this thing needed plug wires. I got some colored craft wire and pin-drilled holes it the valve covers, then cut, bent, trimmed, and glued each wire into place. The only thing left to do is add some sponsor decals and this gasser is ready to run!! Thanks Joe!!

joez870 04-06-2005, 03:41 PM I'm digging the wire detail, joe! Good choice on the wheels, too! I have a set of the afx dragster wheels on all corners too, but your spokeys look much better than the AFX version. Great job!
joez...Keepin' it in the slot!
jack0fall 04-06-2005, 09:03 PM Meet me on the strip, and we will just see... Oh and don't forget we are racing for PINKS... Man, that looks like it will chew up anything that it runs against. Great detail work. Guess I will need to find my cheaters so I can see those little holes to put the wires in.

coach61 04-06-2005, 09:33 PM Now thats a nice looking machine.. And I generally do not get to excited about hot rods..But you did a great Job, you say Joez did the body? If so... standing O Joe...
joez870 04-07-2005, 01:06 AM Sorry, dave, I did not cast that one. That is quarter mile car that a friend cast He did a run of 20 (that is all he will do of any car) and scrapped the mold. ( I picked up his last 2) he has retired from his dayjob and moved some place sunny.
He gave me a new DC of the same car and said "Go for it!" So, now it is on my bench as a master, waiting for a few more siblings before it goes into the RTV. Though they will be a bit different, more will be available in the near future.
I saw them and thought that they were "hot" too. :)
Joe has done a GREAT job on it!
joez870...keepin' it in the groove!
mtyoder 04-08-2005, 09:18 PM So, Is that a 392 or a 354 HEMI with the distributor in the back? Old school Hemi. Anybody else notice?
