View Full Version : 19 Turn Question
To Kenny B., i haven't ran much 19t since the '03 nats @ BMS. What ROAR updates to the 19t motor have been implemented/ok'd since then? P-94 brushes, the new funky lookin' angled brush endbells, etc? All i have are D5's,how far behind am i/ just wondering if the cost would be prohibitive to consider 19t at the nats this yr., or just run 4c stock? Thanks,DK
29Dennis 04-05-2005, 10:20 AM I heard from a pretty reliable source that 19t is going to be handout motors this year. Sounded crazy to me at first but might not be do bad of an idea.
haysreeling 04-05-2005, 04:46 PM The binary cans are legal, standup brushes only, 36 degrees of timing. Basically the same as arcor, the only difference being that roar allows binaries (I think they're slower anyway) lol. The new cobalts are legal, but they are just a 2 magnet motor with a newer style endbell. A d5 will work out just fine.
Hays JR
Takes a lot of motor @ BMS,hope you're right Hays.Thanks

Dennis, ROAR does not used handout 19T motors in oval. Please bring your own 19T oval motor and have fun. Please note that there are dedicated rules for the 19T oval motor that are different than the motor defined for onroad/offroad.
davidl, this question was kinda directed towards the paved oval nats @ BMS this fall, and 29dennis is a local racer.Probably stating what he has heard around the track. it would be pretty neat if that were to happen.
davidl 04-09-2005, 01:14 PM DK - you mentioned it would be "pretty neat if that were to happen." I am confused by that comment and request clarification.
Kenny B 04-10-2005, 02:40 AM HI Danny! Sorry for the late reply but work had sent me out to Hawaii for the past week and no internet.
Our man Hayes pretty much covered the discussion. Items to what out are that the armatures with skewed laminations are not allowed (from memory the D6 arm), all setup will need to be epic can and endbell / epic armatures (or any other mod manufactuer...yok/yok...etc) wiht only ROAR approved modified motor components (i.e. same endbell wiht the approved can). Only standups are allowed (3x5 mm) no trimmed down P94's, no circular brushes. Changing the endbell is allowed only as far as swapping out brush hoods to a standup version. Mabuchi wraps and other items in the rule book as far as armature notations, weigths, wind lengths, etc.
I am currently planning on being there at BMS to RACE!!!!! YES it may be possible! the only thing that might throw it out is a possible professinal engineer licensing exam for the State of Arizona. We'll see i guess.

Kenny B 04-10-2005, 02:44 AM David...29Dennis was trying to express that if he had heard that handouts were being used for 19-turn "would be pretty neat if that were happen".
To clear up everythign....there no ROAR approved 19-turn handouts, even for offroad or onroad. Oval classes for 19-turn are BYOM comprised of approved motor parts.
Hope this helps.

davidl 04-10-2005, 11:05 PM Thanks for clarifying that, Kenny. He is one of only two that I have met that feels the 19T motor in oval should be a "hand out" at ROAR level 4 events. That surprised me. I am not critical of his opinion, just surprised.
My opinion exactly, just a personal thing,i feel it would level the playing field more. I don't have a motor builder that comes to the race for me,but have been fortunate enough to be taught a few things by some of the best.LOL, Kenny i said it would be pretty neat,Dennis said not a bad idea..You ain't leavin Cheeseland are you for that hot weather?!?!?!
DynoMoHum 04-11-2005, 10:30 AM Kenny... If you'd had internet access in Hawaii... and used it insted of going out and enjoying Hawaii. I'd think you were nuts...
Kenny B 04-13-2005, 10:43 PM No danny...staying right here in the great almost white north! Hawaii is a nice place to visit, but I like snow, and changin seasons! Besides when I am am on the beach they keep trying to "save me" by rolling me back into the water! Must be the tan head and arms making me look like ORCA and wanting to keep me all wet!
See you at BMS! I get to race this event!!!!
