View Full Version : Needfull Things Swimming Creature Kit
DARKKNIGHT 04-03-2005, 09:37 AM Has anyone bought and built Needfull Things Swimming Creature From The Black Lagoon Resin Kit? Builtup on the box looks great. Need opinions before I shell out $$$s for one. If you have one or even just seen one please let me know.
Dave Hussey 04-04-2005, 08:58 AM Have you researched the one from WWW.Retroresin.com (http://www.retroresin.com/)? I have no personal experience with it but I understand it is a nice kit. Here is a direct link:

the one from Retroresin is a replica of the MoM Aurora kit and from the pics it looks really nice .
the Needful Things kit is a different version ( or so i thought ) bigger more like the DH kit ? and quite expensive (IIRC ) .
either way , fine kits .

okay , from what i saw on the web site it would be well worth 150$$ . being 1/5th scale would make him about 14 to 15 inches tall ( head to heel ) outstretched swimming like that makes it an even longer overall figure .
can't comment on how tough a build it might be .
ya might try the clubhouse BB as there's a large group of resinheads that hang out there . i'm sure some one over there has one .

lonfan 04-08-2005, 02:42 PM I CAN'T tell ya' about the Kits at Needful BUT I would like to take a moment to tell ya' about one of their Incredible Craftsmen, About 2 years ago I'm thumbin' thru the newest Issue of MR or AFM when I had to do a TRIPLE TAKE at the adress provided for a Contact at Needful it was Whatever # BEAVER ST ANSONIA CT. Well I'm we're Located about 500 Yards from THAT ADRESS!!! Finally about a year or so later I work up the Nerve to contact this Guy I left a Short note at the Door and I got a call from Mr. David Grant Sculptor NO Make that AWSOME SCULPTOR!! Sorry to get all Fanboy on ya' but Dave turned out to be a great guy to work with I'm currently workin' at the Neighborhood Bodaga,I talk to him in the Parking Lot all the Time Always Available to Answer my Questions MANY a Day I've sent the Poor Guy home with a HOT Six-Pack because he Stood in the Sun Explaining to me Just why my Resin Kit was Having trouble with Layers Seperating! LOL So I took a look at the Beautiful "Needful Things "(Ahem sorry lol) This Outfit has for Sale!!! Take a Look at their "Snake Plissken" My ONLY BEEF with it is that it's a Perfect Likeness to Snake BUT FROM from The Weaker (in my opinion) Sequel to Escape From N.Y. Tittled Escape from L.A. It was a Slicker Film But I liked the Low Budget look of the Original! ANYHOO Talk to Rob Over there, They are BOTH GREAT DUDES TO DEAL WITH! and for what it's worth That Creech looks Just Perfect! Now would anybody know Anything about a REALLY LARGE Creature (Standing Pose Maybe By Tony McVey?) I'd like to find out more about this guy!

AFILMDUDE 04-09-2005, 05:41 PM Well, I haven't actually begun building it yet... Still working on Dracula.
Between spending my extra time on crown molding for the house or models; the moldings been winning lately.
AFILMDUDE 04-09-2005, 05:43 PM But if you want a pic of how the kit looks out of the box - unbuilt - I'd be happy to post it for you.
lonfan 04-09-2005, 07:55 PM DUDE- That Might be interesting to see if Gene was able to cast it in the Same Sub-Assemblies as the Original or Not.BTW I bought the Retro Dr. Jekyll and I'll tell ya' CLASS ACT all the Way and the Kit is OUTSANDING
OH BTW since we're talkin' Monster's Of The Movies Kits Have you had the Pleasure of Checking out those ORIGINAL Line of "Monster's Aurora SHOULDA Made" from Parts Pit Mike? the First one I'm gittin is the "Bride Of Drac" In Scale with the Aurora MOM Dracula,I hope the "Scream Queen" is as Hot as this one! (Hot yet they really seem to tie in with the Original Line Beautifully!

AFILMDUDE 04-10-2005, 12:24 AM Yeah, I just got the good Doctor as well. All the separate parts give it the feel of the original kit.
The Creature is a more standard resin kit - larger, solid sub-sections. But still highly detailed and quality all the way. For $50 you really get your money's worth. I'll post a snap-shot tomorrow when I have more light to take a decent picture in.
Dave Hussey 04-10-2005, 11:24 AM Hey Afilmdude - that would be great!!

AFILMDUDE 04-10-2005, 03:06 PM Here's the Creature. Sorry I didn't want to debag everything until I was ready to build it.
Dave Hussey 04-10-2005, 09:39 PM Thanks!
It looks like a very high quality casting from what I can see. I really want to get one of these now!
