View Full Version : New ST series!
Lloyd Collins 04-01-2005, 02:06 AM I just read that Paramount is going to put out a new ST series next year! The series is going to be in TOS time. Rick Berman is not doing the show. Gene Roddenberry Jr is in charge now. They want to get back to basics. Good news!
tripdeer 04-01-2005, 03:17 AM Wow! I'd get excited if I didn't just look at the calendar! Sweet!

Four Mad Men 04-01-2005, 04:14 AM Welcome to April everyone!
JGG1701 04-01-2005, 08:26 AM Are you serious ? Or is this another April Fools prank ?!
Martin Dressler 04-01-2005, 11:31 AM Well I'm not sure about a new series, but it was announced in the trade papers a few weeks ago that a writer had been put to work on the screenplay for the next feature film (no joke). Did anyone else see that?
tripdeer 04-01-2005, 02:05 PM Yessir, the writer of the screenplay is Erik Jendresen, one of the writers for the mini-series "Band of Brothers." And as this is April 1st, I have to add the disclaimer, no foolin' guys, this one's for real. :)

Griffworks 04-01-2005, 03:39 PM It's true, I swear! I read it on the Internet, so it's gotta be true!
I also heard that, while he's not in any producing capacity, Rick Berman has a cameo in the pilot episode of the new series. He plays a starship captain who's captured, tortured and then eaten alive by the Gorn....
beeblebrox 04-01-2005, 03:41 PM I like the way you think, Griff.
Nova Designs 04-01-2005, 05:43 PM Please Just Let It Die!!!!
Lloyd Collins 04-02-2005, 12:24 AM It will not DIE! I tried shooting, stabbing, poison,a picture of Michael Jackson, and other unpleasent stuff.
Dennis Bailey 04-02-2005, 06:30 PM There's money in the trademarks, so Trek won't die.
I'm not sure what would better qualify Gene Roddenberry Jr than, say, Frank Perdue to produce a Trek series.
Prince of Styrene II 04-03-2005, 01:55 AM Yessir, the writer of the screenplay is Erik Jendresen...
Yea, & Rick Berman is co-writing it. The bad thing is that both of them are somewhat persona-non-grata on the lot nowdays. They were put on that to wait out till their contracts to expire. What happens with their work on the script is anyone's guess. Info from an insider.

Not being dead? :)
Although, even dead, I'm sure Frank could write better than Berman.
Dennis Bailey 04-03-2005, 11:12 AM Not being dead? :)
I'm not sure that's enough to make the difference. :)
Eugene Roddenberry Jr is a canny and honest enough guy to have suggested on more than one occasion that it would be unrealistic for people to expect him to take over "Star Trek". Of course, he's also still very young.

Now I'd give real money to see that :)
