I had to take the "Hosted by Hobby Hub" and the Hotel info off of it to post it.
Rocketman 03-31-2005, 06:50 PM is this a cap track or foam track...........................
is this a cap track or foam track...........................
Cap tires.
I am going to try and get some flyers mailed out to the hobby shops for this race. If anybody needs some mailed, post on here. I will send them to Trackside, Classic, and Halo for right now.
oldguy 04-12-2005, 04:38 PM Dave, you may want to send some to the Summit in Fort Wayne and to the PDX guys at the Velodrome also.
Bob Wright 04-12-2005, 06:53 PM Dave you should probably get some to the Triclone. Most of the oval crowd won't be back to Trackside this spring.FYI.
Is this the correct address to the TriClone?
Midwest Tri-clone
3745 Schuster Dr.
West Bend, WI 54090
Is there any pictures of the track anywhere?
hock go to qsac.org then click on links, then click on great lakes quarter scale racers
Barooose 04-13-2005, 01:56 PM Am I correct in reading that electricity is Not available? This track looks like a real challenge judging by how flat it appears. Does anyone run 1/10 scale electric on a regular basis? I like it......
oldguy 04-13-2005, 02:53 PM It may look "flat" by Triclone standards, but it is one cool, banked oval track. The guys ran 1/10 electric several times there last summer and had blast!!! Make the trip, you will not be disappointed.
Xpressman 04-13-2005, 04:51 PM There is one plug for the computer and last year it seemed everyone that raced had a generator except for me. (Thanks Jamie)
It is very deceptive as the D-part of the track is banked. The straight in front of the drivers stand is the longest straight and is almost flat. The hardest turn is turn 4 coming on to the straight in front of the drivers stand. The banking falls away and if you don't get it right the cars want to shoot out to the wall or spin out to the inside. Their is 2 bumps if I remember correctly. The one in the middle of 1 and 2 you don't notice and their is one on the back stretch going into 3 but the only time it upsets the car is if you are way to wide.
There was very good traction and I used the same tires that were the handout for Nats at the Tri-clone last year. I think Davz tried no stagger in the front and also used some pinks but I'm not sure.
Oh by the way it is located in the back of a fun park with mini-golf and go Karts.

burbs 04-13-2005, 06:53 PM just an fyi.. a roar full membership is not required for this event.. a single race membership, which i belive is 15.oo can be used for regionals... then if you run a other roar race within the next year, you only have to pay the remaining 15,00 and you get your ful membership... but it is retro to the date of the single event pass..
burbs 04-13-2005, 06:57 PM here si the description off the website for it
Racing Line: 375 ft
Surface: Asphalt
Infield: Grass
Electric: No
Restroom: Yes
Food: Select Events
Track Description: Lansing is a "D" shaped oval. Fairly flat. Coming off of turn 2 can sometimes be tricky. The backstretch is fast, It provides for some really good racing. It is also the home track for the GLQSR
pmsimkins 04-13-2005, 07:05 PM Now that I know I can use my Tri-Clone tires there I am interested in possibly attending this race. Does anyone have any guess if there may be a decent brushless turnout? I know there is a pretty large contingent of BL guys in northern Michigan, but I don't know if any of them race caps.
Rocketman 04-13-2005, 07:58 PM can someone tell me what the cap tire setup for here that works good is so i can see if i need to get the right ones .......................
pmsimkins 04-13-2005, 08:16 PM Someone mentioned that the tires from Nationals last year worked. They were.......
RF = S net Blue
LF = L featherlite Blue
RR = R net Blue
LR = L featherlite Green

Email Dave Jansen a copy of the flyer. He's the curator of the Triclone.
With a couple of trips to Tennesee this summer.I'll have to be REAL nice to the little lady to make this one.
pmsimkins 04-13-2005, 09:45 PM Bob,
You missed a pretty fun time at Monroe last weekend. The track was very good. I wish they had a stronger weekly program as I'd really like to race there some more. Anyway, see you in GB.
I am definatley working to go to this race
Baroose - We are working on getting a large generator, so that the out of towners won't have to haul their own. Watch this thread and I will update people as things come up. As far as tables and chairs, It's bring your own. If there's enough interest, maybe a buch of guys could chip in and rent them. I can work with you on that.
pmsimkins - I can guarantee you there will be a good brushless class. Last week we had 15 4300 brushless cars locally, and most of those will attend this race.
Rocketman - Here's what I've run for tires, and I think I have the most laps on this track to date.------
All Johns BSR Radials
RR - Wide Blue Net R
RF - Blue Net S
LR - Narrow Prolite Green S (or Pink)
LF - Green Prolite S or L or Pink L or S
Bob - It would be good to see you and the crew for this race. I know the NORRCA race is close to that time, but if you do come down, you won't regret it
This track is a little challenging, but I've seen First timers get hooked up in a day.
And yes the 2004 Nats handout tires work great. Ive run those there with no problems.
Barooose 04-14-2005, 01:24 PM Davz. Thanks for all the info. Do you guys have a regular schedule so we could get a little practice ahead of time? I am pumped up to run on a track like this and it sounds like some of my cohorts are interested as well.

Looks like we will have a warmup race Memorial day weekend. Not sure which day, but looks like Saturday. How far away do you live? because we will be practicing a few times before that.
tw78911sc 04-14-2005, 02:55 PM I'd like more info on the Memorial day weekend event as well. Do people use HD bodies?
Tom

Tom
I am going to try and nail down a schedule for the season this weekend, so I'll post it then.
Some have used the HD Monte Carlo, and Pontiac. Track record is with the Pontiac.
I think the new Dodge body is going to be the ticket.
Jamie Hanson 04-14-2005, 03:58 PM Anyone that is thinking about this race should come. I went a couple times last year and had a blast. Work kept me from going more often. It is a slight banking but the back straight is amazing. The high pitch wind of a Motor is great. We all ran 19turn last year and I loved it.
WIGMAN 04-14-2005, 07:15 PM Hey Dave, is it safe to camp at the track, also is there a host hotel or anything like that.
As someone who has never raced caps before does anyone have any used ones in the variety that dave described, if I remember correctly those caps are expensive as all heck, If I am going to talk the little lady into this one it will have to be as cheap as possible.
Later, Joel
Joel-
I don't think you could camp out there, but there's a lot of hotels nearby for $40 or so. Motel 6 is the one I'm thinking of. It's pretty nice there.
I haven't talked to any hotels.
Barooose 04-15-2005, 01:45 PM Thanks again, Davz. I live a hour north of Milwaukee.
Bob Wright 04-15-2005, 07:33 PM Davz. Thanks for all the info. Do you guys have a regular schedule so we could get a little practice ahead of time? I am pumped up to run on a track like this and it sounds like some of my cohorts are interested as well.
Bruce can I be one of your cohorts?
Barooose 04-15-2005, 09:43 PM Cohort? You are one of my heros Bob. See ya saturday.
We are having our first race of the season on May 28th.
Track opens at 10 am
Racing at 1 pm
3 heats and a main
Classes are whatever shows up.
Probably 1/10 brushless, mod, stock, and touring 19 turn
We expect to have a decent showing from the locals at least.
I will post the rest of the schedule soon. (I forgot it at home)
It's going to be one race per month on Saturdays
Hope to see you there
Dave Z.
If any of you guys from out of town are interested in a practice day, speak up.
I think we will be able to go out there any day.
Here's a link to the tracks closest thing to a website
http://glqsr.homestead.com/Tracks.html
It's the quarter scale club's home track. They say "fairly flat" but the backstretch (and turns 2&3) has a lot of banking. enough to get cap tires to work anyway.
pmsimkins 04-22-2005, 06:59 PM Track looks pretty cool. Definately something a little different. I'm kind of scared of the grass infield though lol. Unfortunately it doesn't look like I can make it. We'll be starting production on a new product at work right around then so I have to be there.
I hope you brushless guys who race there can make it over to the Tri-Clone sometime this summer. We'll definately be racing brushless! Try for the 4th of July race, should be a great race with great weather.
Barooose 04-26-2005, 08:47 AM Hey, Davz, Have you got that schedule yet? I need to clear a practice day or two with my manager (wife).
Hey, Davz, Have you got that schedule yet? I need to clear a practice day or two with my manager (wife).
I will try to get it on here tonight.
Ok - here's the schedule for the season. I hope we can add some dates to this, but this is it so far. Email me about hotels, there's better ones than on the flyer for the regional.
Jamie Hanson 04-28-2005, 06:33 PM Ok - here's the schedule for the season. I hope we can add some dates to this, but this is it so far. Email me about hotels, there's better ones than on the flyer for the regional.
Where is it Dave? LoL
Jamie Hanson 04-28-2005, 06:34 PM Nevermind, I see it now. Our IT dept had it blocked.
Barooose 04-29-2005, 01:45 PM Thanks for the schedule Davz. I am sure there are quite a few of us Wisconites interested in coming over. Now to make a practice date and the regionals fit into my schedule.

It would be great to see you guys again. Let me know what dates your thinking.
I am happy to announce that Lefthander R/C and TQ Cells agreed to participate in sponsoring this race!
I am waiting on several others so I will post when they are confirmed.
Thanks Steve and Hays!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dave Zipp.
We can add Bud's Racing Products to the race sponsors!
Thanks Bud!!!!!!
Dave Z.
Barooose 05-09-2005, 01:31 PM Looks like this race is coming together nicely. And it's coming up fast.
tw78911sc 05-09-2005, 03:01 PM Any update on the generator situation? Doubtful I'll have one for the 1st race but want to come.
Tom
Xpressman 05-09-2005, 03:03 PM Tom,
For the first race I wouldn't worry about it. There are plenty of guys that have generators and I believe last over half the guys that races had them...hahahah
Tom, like Brian said, I wouldn't worry about it for the first race. You'll talk to enough people there that have them, and probably be OK for the regional.
I don't have a generator either, and I've gotten by OK so far.
For you out of towners, I don't want you guys to have to haul a generator. If you want to, and have the room, great. But we can all pitch in on a big one, and I'll rent one for the weekend if it comes down to it. I think it would only be a couple bucks per person. At this point, it won't fit into the race budget.
NTwigs 05-09-2005, 08:58 PM I'll be bringing my generator. Usually it will run 4-6 racers on it. If you are in need, it is first come first serve. Come see Nick in the scoring booth, and I'll hook you up.
tw78911sc 05-09-2005, 09:50 PM Great can't wait!
Tom
