View Full Version : I got my LIS John Robinson figure
ham1963 03-31-2005, 11:00 AM Well I got my John Robinson figure from Scfi-met the other day and I was really impressed with it. I was was impressed with the head sculpt and the uniform looks good. I guess the only complaint is that the gun holster is to big. So I will give it two thumbs-up out of two
jbond 03-31-2005, 01:54 PM How are the paint apps on these? The new photos on the site look beautiful. I've ordered Robinson and Smith and will probably get West and Will at least when those come out. They've gotta do a 1/6 robot!
PhilipMarlowe 03-31-2005, 02:04 PM Do these scale the same as the Trendmaster figures of Will, Don, and Dr Smith?
beatlepaul 03-31-2005, 03:55 PM I am interested in the paint job and likeness as well. I collect Sideshow's James Bond line of 12" figures, and some of those are just awesome. How is the articulation?
jbond 03-31-2005, 06:52 PM The Robot Factory LIS figures are 12 inch figures; Trendmasters did 9" ones.

Darn it! I got Will, Don, Dr Smith, Cyclops & Tybo the Carrot guy stashed in a closet somewhere, & always wanted to finish the crew.

Correction; Tybo was a turnip, not a carrot.
MOIST-SHUH! MOIST-SHUH! I NEED MOIST-SHUH!!!!!
ham1963 04-04-2005, 12:07 AM Sorry it took so long to put together but here are some pictures of the figure I did put the holster on the wrong side (My fault)
DR. PRETORIOUS 04-04-2005, 09:02 AM I saw it on ebay, why are you selling it?
jbond 04-06-2005, 01:06 PM Has ANYONE else received these yet? I got the same e-mail everyone else did a while ago but no further sign that anything's being shipped...
gaetan 04-07-2005, 09:06 AM Hello guys
Is it just me??? After looking at the pictures on E-bay and comparing it to the figure of John on the manufacturer site , I am very disapointed.......
I will explain myself....... It doesn't look at all like the same head casting!!!!! Check Scifi Metropolis preview pictures of John on their site. The head is near perfect, sorry, I will say as perfect someone can reproduce it in that scale.....
That face got the essence of Guy Williams, the large face form, the cheekbones, nose, hairline....... So the sum of it make it great  I am a buyer....
Now, from the pics on E-bay of the production figure, narrow face, long nose, it can't be the same head casting that was shown at all. It looks more like the first version of the test figures before they were corrected to the more look alike great pictures on SFM site now....
I can understand the small print: The production figures can differ from those photos.... Painting differences, OK... But different head casting, It's No Go for me....
If I am wrong ,I won't hesitate to excuse myself publicly...... I am not here to bash...

Gaetan
ham1963 04-07-2005, 10:34 AM gaetan,
I understand your comments but I think that the head casting is close but it is very hard to get the head casting close to the real person or even to picture on the box. I have collected 1/6 figures ( Dragon, BBi, Sidesshow and others) for years and have yet to find one that has a perfect head casting. Now I know that there are people out there that will say they can produce the perfect head casting but are they mass producing these figures?
gaetan 04-07-2005, 11:27 AM Hello Ham
I just rechecked the pics of the most recent version of JOHN I had uploaded from SFM site and your pics and the head can't be from the same mold, it don't fit. Sorry but the resulting proportions from two molded parts can't be that far apart, if they are coming from the same mold. It's not at the painting level, it's a question of proportions.
Since the JOHN's figure photos presently posted on the Scifi Metropolis site are a very neat  (to say the least) replica of Guy Williams face. And the manufacturer was supposed to use the mold from it for the mass production as it was the corrected and most up to date version, I have a HYPOTHESIS....
You were sent the figure of the earlier non corrected JOHN version.

Gaetan.
jbond 04-07-2005, 01:21 PM I do hope that for $80 they are selling the improved versions currently being shown on their site; it would be criminal if that's not the case. For a "perfect" head casting look at Sideshow's Forbidden Zone Taylor replica of Charlton Heston, the best sculpt of the actor I've ever seen. The photos now on Robot Factory's site match that quality; it would be nice if the actual product at least comes close.
jbond 04-14-2005, 03:15 PM Anyone else got these figures yet? Anyone? I got my "update" e-mail a month ago, so far nothin'.
