BA Motorsports 03-30-2005, 06:17 PM DARKSIDE MOTORSPORTS, check 'em out, great products and great customer service. Thanks Eric for your support to R/C Oval Racing. burbs 03-30-2005, 06:27 PM ............... Stagger2 04-08-2005, 07:22 AM Eric how much longer? I see that you are taking preorders, how do you go about doing that? Chad THE DARKSIDE 04-08-2005, 11:18 AM Chad, e-mail me eric@darksidems.com Everything is at the machine shop now. Maybe a week or two. -Eric THE DARKSIDE 04-08-2005, 01:13 PM i sure hope the chassis plate is .100 thick... i like the design, but every car i have ever had over.100 thick doesnt work as well... or is alot more picky when setting up... thats why all the fastest cars out right now, are .100 or less.... KGS, Hyperdrive, Maverick, Custom works, I think i see a trend..LOL... chassis flex is a major key in setting up a car.. especially a ballpark, or an average racer /tuner... Takling this flex out of the chassis, has more disadvantages then advantages... Although the new chassis is 3mm thick, there are a fair number of cut-outs that add to the flexing. it is not like a solid plate that doesn't move. I've tried to find a happy medium between solid as a rock and the wet noodle. jake86 04-08-2005, 01:56 PM I watch Eric run the car a few weeks ago at Omaha and it looked real good. Jason Jackson burbs 04-08-2005, 04:34 PM any close up pics of it yet? the ones on the site are kinda small and shady.... Stagger2 04-08-2005, 06:35 PM That's my fault Burbs, my new digital camera and I don't get along well. I took them at the Region 8 Races in Omaha. Sorry for the crappy pics guys, I'm sure Eric will have better ones up before long. He told me that he had to make a couple more changes from the prototype that the pics are of. (That is a correct statement, right Eric?) Chad O THE DARKSIDE 04-09-2005, 09:21 AM Yep stagger, you are correct. The pictures on the website are of one of the prototype cars. There are some small changes to the car, but it will closely resemble the pictures that you see there. I will have better ones up of the final production cars up as soon as I get them back from the machine shop. If there are any questions, e-mail me at eric@darksidems.com and I can help you out from there. Eric Dimmick Darkside Motorsports Butters16 05-14-2005, 11:09 AM Nice Pics of the new car Eric . It looks great check out the pics on the darkside website. www.darksidems.com (http://www.darksidems.com) THE DARKSIDE 05-19-2005, 01:29 AM All of the new cars are packaged and now ready to ship. I've updated the website with some pictures of the new car as well as some pics of a couple of the upcoming upgrades. The Enemy will be the ONLY production chassis available with the ability to offset the steering servo to the left side of the car. This set-up was killer in the turns on flat tracks. We are finishing up one of the parts for that set-up and will have that option available at the end of the month. We are also working on a solid .100" chassis that will be along this summer as well. Feel free to post any questions about the chassis here and I'll be happy to answer them. Eric Dimmick Darkside Motorsports "WE ARE WHAT'S NEXT." Ernie P. 05-24-2005, 04:05 AM I just got the first Darkside Enemy chassis in my hands. What a neat job! This thing looks sweet! Very adjustable, well thought out and a very neat lay out for the accessories. I can't wait to get it into action. Thanks; Ernie P. THE DARKSIDE 05-24-2005, 09:45 PM Thanks for the kind words guys. If you have any set-up related questions feel free to post them here & I'll get them answered ASAP. I think that you'll be pleasantly suprised with the car's performance. Neil, your rides are on the way! Ernie P. 05-24-2005, 10:43 PM Eric; what would be a good starting setup for a short (127 foot run line), medium traction carpet oval? Thanks; Ernie P. c barsalow 05-25-2005, 12:43 PM Neil! I gotta see one of these first hand.....drop a line when you get it!~ ovalmaster 05-25-2005, 03:12 PM Chuck, I was fortunate enough to see one in Orlando this year. Eric did a great job with this car. The quality and attention to detail is awsome. Many people may not know this, but Darkside has been around for a long time (close to 10 years). Eric has been designing his own chassis longer than most have been racing. Antonio c barsalow 05-25-2005, 04:38 PM I think I bought a car from him maybe 15 years ago~~~~A Cobra @ Foxhill....remember that place? THE DARKSIDE 05-26-2005, 08:51 AM Cobra @ Foxhill....Darn that brings back a lot of great memories. That was one of the finest indoor banked oval tracks in the country. Great track, great competition, lots of good fun. It's been almost 15 years since that place first opened. Thanks Antonio, appreciate the props... As far as a flat track set-up goes, here's what I've run in stock at my local track (ozite carpet): Front: Green, non progressive springs each side. IRS Castor blocks, inside A-arm mounted in the most inward and upper hole, outside A-arm mounted in the most inward and lower hole. Long king pins, wide track front end, short wheelbase Jaco Black fronts each side, full compound (jack the gripper (track rule)) Center shock mounted in the 2nd hole fronm the bottom, 30wt oil, green Associated center spring, about 3/16 - 1/4" preload. Medium-Soft spring steel t-plate. Battery offset to the outside, mounted way back in the car. Offset motor pod, short pod plates Side shocks - 30 or 35 wt oil to suit track and driver. Same with side springs, I've run several combo's both reversed and straight up. Only difference is the amount of tweak in the chassis. Try gold both sides and adjust from there. Mounted in lowest outside holes on the shock tower. Rear tires - Jaco white inside & gray outside, full compound (see above) might need to trim the inside of the inside rear rim to run up against the pod. \ Let me know how that works... I've got a set-up sheet in the works, It'll be up on the site in a few weeks. -E Butters16 05-28-2005, 04:52 PM Got the kits today ,they extremely nice cars better then iwould dreamed can't wait to give it a run Thanks Eric nice work on the kit paceman 05-28-2005, 07:30 PM Hi Eric! THE DARKSIDE 06-02-2005, 09:27 PM Kat - Glad that I could help out your series Lambet - Working on the design for the solid chassis and am looking towards july/August for release. -E c barsalow 06-07-2005, 05:34 PM I thought it was you I bought that old Cobra from.....couldn't remember and with all the Colorado address I was not sure. This will be 2.5 MM silver carbon and incorporate the majority of the adjustments on the slider chassis. These will be available for sale in mid August. If you have anyother questions feel free to e-mail me at eric@darksidems.com Thanks THE DARKSIDE 08-02-2005, 11:21 PM Darkside Motorsports is proud to announce the return of Jason Lambert to the test team. Jason Lambert 08-03-2005, 05:31 AM I received the car this week in the mail, fit and finish is very good, instructions were easy to follow, just waiting on a few parts ( electronics, etc ) and the testing will begin! I'll have the car, as completed as possible at the 4th race of the maximus triple crown series this weekend, so if anyone wants to take a look at it, I'll have it there... wether the rest of the goodies show to finish it or not. bud3738 08-03-2005, 11:12 AM Hey Eric.....Nice looking car from the pics on your website.....Curious what the price is..I think Lambert joining your time was a good move on your part.....I must say I have never met someone who drives a better...smoother line than him....... . Looking forward to seeing this car next time im either at K/N or Maximus Jason Lambert 08-03-2005, 12:53 PM Bud, I'll have the car with me @ maximus this weekend. Unfortuantely, I won't be able to run it.. the bellcrank pieces are still in production, and as that is a large part of the car, I am gonna chose to wait until I have it, as the setup knowledge learned from running without it won't really help much once it's in place, that and the electronics I have on the way for the car won't be here until next week, and I'd just as soon wait until I have new stuff to put in, rather then toss older stuff that is questionable in. I have been involved with alot of the differnet things that this car has to offer, and will be giving alot of feedback to Eric in regards to how it is working, changes to make, etc. so it will be an excelllent car... it's an excellent start now, and will be even better in the upcoming months. Along with the bellcrank setup to fully offset all of the weight in the car, a solid chasis is being worked on, which will have enough room to mount EVERYTHING, servo included on the left... turn baby turn! We have several other options that are being worked on as well, because of the universal design of the rear mounting brace, it is going to allow for several differnet options for he rear of the car, the vertical shock setup being one of them, there are a couple others too. Believe me when I say this car will ROCK! Everything that is offered, and will be offered will be track tested heavily, and if it doesn't have a distinct advantage, we will keep working at it. Besides... the graphite is silver, and looks cool, and with black alum on the car. it looks even better! Thanks for the compliment too by the way! Jason Lambert 08-03-2005, 12:56 PM Also, once I have gotten the car on the track, and have had a couple race days with it... I wil lbe able to start answerign a Q and A on teh car, setup help, etc. so if anyone needs a hand getting theirs going.. I'd be more then happy to help. bsracing8 08-03-2005, 01:04 PM car looks awsome guys!!! Brandon Bill Johnson 08-03-2005, 07:03 PM Yeah,,,the car looks great, but what about the nut that'll be behind the wheel............... :D BEACH 08-03-2005, 07:08 PM Also, once I have gotten the car on the track, and have had a couple race days with it... I wil lbe able to start answerign a Q and A on teh car, setup help, etc. so if anyone needs a hand getting theirs going.. I'd be more then happy to help. Jason, did you bail on Custom Works cars? Beach Jason Lambert 08-03-2005, 08:20 PM I am testing this car, and have all intention of making it my primary car. I really had no tie to custom works, I like the car alot, and feel it is a really good car that has proven itself over and over, for me and alot of others.. can't take anything away from it. The Darkside Enemy is something that I have had alot of contact with, and alot of things that I have found over the last few years ahs been applied to this car. I feel obligated to give it a 100% effort to make it work, and help develop it further into a car that can compete with the other top running cars on the market.. I think it's already very close. A am also good friends with Eric, and that has alot to do with why I am running it as well.... I have helped him develop this car for the last 3 plus years, so it's only right that I pick up the wheel on one to test it,a nd conitnue to help it's deveopment. There will be more of this car to come... and I will do everything I can to make it the best car that I can. BEACH 08-03-2005, 10:27 PM Thats cool, I was just curious and not flamin' ya at all. Beach Jason Lambert 08-04-2005, 05:36 AM No problem Beach.... didn't think you were. THE DARKSIDE 08-04-2005, 02:35 PM Yeah,,,the car looks great, but what about the nut that'll be behind the wheel............... :D Can't help that one....... -Eric THE DARKSIDE 08-04-2005, 02:36 PM Hey Eric.....Nice looking car from the pics on your website.....Curious what the price is..I think Lambert joining your time was a good move on your part.....I must say I have never met someone who drives a better...smoother line than him....... . Looking forward to seeing this car next time im either at K/N or Maximus Bud, The chassis kit as shown is $235 Bill Johnson 08-04-2005, 06:33 PM Eric, got those bodies, thanks for the fast shipping.......... Bill Johnson THE DARKSIDE 08-04-2005, 07:20 PM Eric, got those bodies, thanks for the fast shipping.......... Bill Johnson Glad that I could help -Eric Jason Lambert 08-06-2005, 10:26 PM Got to put the car thru a good day of racing today. I was very happy with teh way that teh car ran, it was right on pace with the leadres all day, and due to some banging around.. I was able to pull of a win in the 4 cells stock class, not too bad, considering I had no known motor/gearing setup that I knew was fast... bought the motors out of the case along with the last bits of the car I needed. Car turns very well, and responds well to changes. I'm looking foreward to getting the bell crank setup on the car and testing that out too.. I suspect that along with a few other changes will really bring this car to life... it was very close right out of the box. Here's the setup I ran on the car, at least most of it.. RF red wolfe spring, 0 preload, 2 degrees camber, 1 degree caster, purple jaco tire LF green wolfe spring, .020 preload, 3 degrees camber, 0 degrees caster, grey jaco tire Both front arms in the long position in the IRS caster blocks, right front in bottom hole, left front in top hole. Rear tires, grey right rear, white left rear, both jaco. t bar offset, pos strait up position, gold side springs ( associated ) shocks long, in center adjustment hole, 40 wt oil in side shocks, HPI center shock, #4 piston, 40 wt oil, blue HPI spring ( too stiff I think, will come off and will remove buds proflo wing at next outing ) center shock in upper most hole, battery all the way out, speedo mounted on tray, tray turned with shelf facing at left rear tire, battery about in center of adjustment range front to back. I don't have the actual weights of any of the tires, I can post that back up if anyone needs it. swtour 08-08-2005, 01:38 AM Eric, Car looks great....how's it working so far? What happened to the OTHER Colorado Car Guys? I don't see Pro-Parts listed anymore...are those guys still around...? How's the Colorado area racing scene going? THE DARKSIDE 08-09-2005, 08:57 PM Eric, Car looks great....how's it working so far? What happened to the OTHER Colorado Car Guys? I don't see Pro-Parts listed anymore...are those guys still around...? How's the Colorado area racing scene going? The new car has been working real good thus far, I'm very pleased with the performance. As far Brent of Pro Parts goes, I've not seen much of him for a long time. He's been racing off and on, but we never seem to be at the track at the same time. I know he has put together a handful of prototype cars for some of the local guys, but I'm not sure of his future plans for marketing them. Colorado scene is still much the same, The oval racing always dies down for the summer, but there is a good amount of action to be had running sedan cars. That's what I've been wheeling for the majority of the past couple of months. -Eric THE DARKSIDE 08-09-2005, 08:59 PM I've been working on a set-up sheet for the Enemy chassis. It should be posted up on the website shortly, for those of you new to the Darkside Nation B mullins 08-12-2005, 06:53 AM Hey Eric how is the new vert shock setup working for you? Jason Lambert 08-12-2005, 12:19 PM I'll be able to post back on the vertical shock setup hopefully after next weekend.. prototype parts should be in my hands mid next week. If I can't get to a track next weekend, the following weekend I will be testing it for sure. Loking foreward to it actually.. I think it's gonna work out real good. vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
