Hey, Junie, it was already started. Got the Nastruck and the Indy cars ready. I'm also building an ISR car, My boy, Greg wants to run it. I'm going with 10cell and an 8T single. My goal is to get a lap or two around 95-100mph. Cliff set a record with 24 cells with V7.1. So, would it be obvious for me to use my good ole' V7.1 with the 10 cells? Will she take it? Any other suggestions for a speedo that can handle 10 cells?

Hey BOB....Howzit?

Speakin' of VELODROME Racing...our velo here in Calif. scrapped the idea of resurfacing w/ WOOD due to a shortfall in their $$$ resources. They did however raise nearly 1/4 MILLION $$$$ so the surface has had bumps removed, cracks filled in, a new smooth transition to the apron..and over the next 2 week period the track will be receiving a NEW Polymer surface and should provide some VERY Fast racing.

Over the course of the tracks projects they will be adding onsite (Non-Blue Room) Bathrooms and some other upgrades...and we are quite excited...

Hey Jim....

Last year we (me and Sarah) called the velo office and she said as long as the velo has nothing planned we could play for like $3.00 - 5.oo for the day. Call the velo office and see what they have going on....or I can call tommorrow and post the info for the guys. Maybe we can all get together and test on the same day. It was fun last year...I thought...

Hey All...

Just got off the phone with the Velodrome and we have a practice date before the first Velo race of 2005!! Sunday, April 10th. from 11:00am - 3:00pm. Then after practice we will have a meeting about this upcoming Velodrome Season at the Hooter's on West 38th St. All are welcome, but sorry... PDX is not "picking-up" the food tab... LOL!!

The Velodrome is in the process of replacing all the marine boards around the top of the track and we should not have anymore problems with the "gaps" between the boards. Not sure if the board replacement will be completed by the practice date, but she said that they are working hard on getting them completed before the 1st "FUN RUN" Race on Sunday, April 24th. Gates open at 8:00am., on the 24th, with Registration closing at 10:30am. and the first heat race of the 2005 "FUN RUN" Season to start at 11:00am. Check out the PDX Syte/Forums for more info!!

***Remember that RaceStreet's final carpet "blow-out" race at the Moose will be Sat., April 9th... race Sat night... grab a hotel, then come down and check out the Velo and input your ideas for the 2005 Velo Season!!

Ya Ready Yet??!!

Hey Joe, Sounds great about what you're getting done to you track. I'd like to try it again, soon with a couple of friends. We're getting new barrier boards at our track soon.
The ISR car is coming along nicely. I'm running a McLaren F1 body on an old 3O chassis with some of those good John's BSR's for tires, 10cell 3300's, an 8T tripple in a Ti can, and a Dually for a speedo. I guess that one was made for 14 cells. I'm going to try a little shake-down on it at the Velo this Sunday. Red Rocket.

Good luck there "RED ROCKET"......wish I could be there this summer...but I am forced to park my stuff for the season. Planned on running three velo fun runs and the Nats....but with prices of gas, and the utilities with my crib on the rise....can't do it!!!

So good luck to you all...see you in the fall !!!!

The insane speed run car handled even better than I thought it would, yesterday at the track. Timed @ 65 mph and that is faster than I want to run. I like my stuff too much in one piece, not pieces. New Indy car is ready for the month of May. See ya at the track in 12 days.

My boy, Greg, says he has the guts to take her faster. And except for the unseen debris on the track, I believe him. I built the car for him to run, anyway. He said he didn't care about racin' much out there, but he wanted to try "Speed Run." Yoke, we'll (he will) get that 80.

Anyone try a brushless system for a T-maxx or something. I here those can handle up to 14 cells.....maybe too much power????

AS LONG AS IT DOESN'T DRAG ACROSS THE LINE.With some of the newer brushless systems and batteries 100 mph should be possible.

Last Sunday, a fellow running 4-cell mod, in the middle of 3 and 4 had some sort of failure, climbed the hill, left the track, ( which has no border boards at this time ) and wrapped the car around a steel brace. The rear tires went rolling down the hill with no pod attached and the axle still in one piece, ( how'd he do that ?), the receiver was split, endbell has yet to be found, car was broken in many pieces, Monte Carlo body stayed wrapped around the steel plate.
Fouler, bring one of those cars out, slammed, I want to watch.

I'm not sure if RC Car Action magazine is ever going to organize their world's fastest r/c car this year. Last I checked they were having facility issues, since their deal fell through with the SoCal track/speedway. Since then they are being very quite about trying to find an alternate site. They were supposed to run the event this summer, but that remains to be seen. Here is a link to their forums: http://forums.radiocontrolzone.com/forumdisplay.php?f=211

The Indianapolis Major Taylor Velodrome certainly isn't the size of a full scale race track. It is big enough that you don't have to worry about radio distance and you can go pretty fast. I think some people were building fuel/gas powered vehicles for this event as well. I don't know if the Velodrome would allow that on the track. However, we could invite the electric guys that are close to Indy to come out and destroy...er test their vehicles.

Let me know what you guys think and I'll post something on their forums.

Hey All...

Called the Velo today to see how the new track boards were coming along... Linda wasn't in... so on my way home I took I-65 past the track and it doesn't look like any of the boards have been installed yet... bummer. (pause) Just got off the phone with the Velo (again)... the boards WILL NOT be installed for this up coming race on Sunday. Real bummer... I guess they still have 3-4 weeks for the city crew to install them. I hope by the May race, but I guess we will see. If I remember correctly, there is about a 4-6in. concrete curb around the top of the track, then the posts come up out of the curbing... which at least gives us some sort of outside wall. To say the least, there will be no pitting along the tracks top rail for safety reasons. I am also going to have to limit spectators to the grandstands only.

See ya at the Track...

I love racing and all...eventhough I won't be running at the velo if it all...my opinion would be this. Not run the race, book another date if possible. With the cars going as fast as they are, the safety issues associated with no boards are enormous!!!

If anything I would make it a playday......

Kris

Hey All...

Yes, safety is a concern, which is why there will be no pitting or spectators up along the track, especially where the Locks and Alexander like to pit along the back straight, sorry. Got your email Kris, and if you were to launch a car all the way to the Interstate it would have to be an ISR car I'd think, unless of course you have some wings on your car!! LOL... and I'm not talking about your maxipad wings Kris!! LOL j.k. Anyway, as far as calling it a play-day, we'll have to see how many guys show and take a vote... also depends on the Velo and if they will hold me to the rental fee.

See ya at the Track...

I ran out there 2 weeks ago, and it was no problem. Yes, keep people away from the track, only spectating in the stands, including racers. If your car goes up that high on the track, you're in more trouble than what any boards may help you with. Don't knock it 'til you try it. If you're not comfortable with it, stay home. Same as if you you don't like what's on tv, turn it off! BC

If you go up turn 1 really fast, do you think the car would end up in the Veli Deli?

Like BC, I ran out there a couple weeks ago with no "major" issues. If you get up that high you may have more to worry about than the wood walls being up. Just be careful. I say race!

alexaj46
04-21-2005, 08:15 AM
Well I have to agree with Bob & Brad, not having any boards isn’t going to cause much more damage to our cars. I rather have my car go off the race track then roll back down and have another car hit me. Or worst yet, hate to have a leader run into a car that rolls back down in front of them, like want happen to me last year. But I also agree, we don't need to have spectators hanging around the rails, I would suggest closing the back gate once were all in, that may help keep people off the rail in the back of the track.

Greg, I’m touch about your concern for my safety, LOL will there be room in the infield for me to pit , I don’t need to put up the “easy up” just some tables..

Kris... ya like that comment huh??!! LOL

The Veli Deli currently is not a drive thru nor fly by!! LOL Hopefully no one leaves the track. Give yourself a little break on that left rear tire... extra 0.5oz heavier will make the car spin down if you catch the car drifting up the track.
