Hey guys,

What are your opinions on this truck? I am looking to get a monster truck (something to play with, aside from racing my MF2), and I plan to put a Novak HV Maxx Brushless in it. But comparing rollers, I like the E-Maxx'es better. But the drivetrain on the E-Maxx can't handle the Brushless without upgrading it,...costing big bucks. So....do you thing the Twin force is a good buy? http://www.rcuniverse.com/magazine/article_display.cfm?article_id=322

Thanks,

Dustin

The truck is OK, but I've heard that the drive train needs to be upgraded just as much on it for a brushless set up as a Maxx does. Also heard that it may not be around much longer and parts support is poor. Gathered this info off RCMT when I was considering the truck. I stuck with the MAXX, I would recomment you do too.

Jimmy G from Downriver RC has one.. put mod motors in it and proceeded to rip up the diffs on the first run. Fun to watch it run. Something different.

well i have seen a maxx with an hv and a twin with an hv and i will tell u this, the twin needs no upgrades for the brushless at all, and the guy with the maxx put 150 in cvds, 90 in just the rear diff and plan on another 90 for the front diff, he also put 2 steel idlers in it for 25 a piece, and he still cant keep up with the twin even in second gear, so who ever owns the twin that dj said must rag on his stuff hard, also i had a maxx and even with the stock titans i had to replace drive train in it i spun off 4 axels in one night so in my view the twin is alot better truck, not to mention if u race it on dirt solid axles drive and handle alot better!!!!!!!!!

The guys on RCMT had to upgrade the axle drive bones and diffs in theirs, went to Kanai diffs and HPI Savage drive bones (the ones inside the axle). The steering works but is laid out funny and a couple upgraded to an axle mounted servo.

Without personal expierience it's all hearsay, the hearsay isn't entirely negative, but it's not inspiring either.

Having had both, I prefer the Twin. It is definitely more durable. You can add a hardened rear diff or the beveled diff. Setting the slipper and using a little throttle control can help spare the diff too. I run serious brushless power in mine with no ill effects. The E-Maxx handles better in the rough stuff, but the Twin is just a better all around basher to me. I don't think it is going anywhere and is just catching on now with the price drop. Kyosho just released a new one with carbon fiber overseas.

Nice that you had both to compare. You can add a hardened rear diff or the beveled diff. Setting the slipper and using a little throttle control can help spare the diff too.
Same can be said for the Maxx though.
The E-Maxx handles better in the rough stuff, but the Twin is just a better all around basher to me.
And that's another reason I stuch with the maxx, I race mine & handleing means alot.

For some reason I am still interested in the Titan though (enough to bid on one on E-Bay) and may pick one up at sometime if $$ allows. Having 1st hand knowledge would be nice.

Also keep in mind a new electric truck is coming out, Looks like a Savage. It being put out by Hot Bodies called the E-Zilla 10, http://www.hotbodiesonline.net/e_zilla.html

I think I'm faster on the track with the TF with it's one way and better jumping characteristics.

I have a twin force and will keep it over my old emaxx any day. The maxx was alright, but stock they don't compare (twin force wins hands down). The upgrade for the TF diff is two more spider gears and a couple shims, and silicone oil if you want it in the diffs. Try putting silicone oil in your maxx diffs...

The twin force is still made, not sure why anyone would say that it isn't. Tower can say discontinued all they want, but it don't make it true. It just means they don't carry it anymore. Kyosho is handling their own distributing now:

and they have contact info with a 1-800 number and good customer service:

I also think my twin force will outhandle a stock maxx any day of the week.
