WIGMAN 03-29-2005, 01:26 PM Hey Mel, I'll be running stock pan, stock touring(maybe) and one of the brushless classes, right now it will be the 5800 but I hope to find a 4300 to run instead.

Jamie Hanson 03-29-2005, 04:43 PM I plan on 4 cell stock and 4300 also. I am getting an itch to run roadcourse though
WIGMAN 03-30-2005, 05:13 PM Jamie, Maybe I'll borrow you my TC3 for some pancar help and advice. That is if a buddy of mine doesn't show up, If he shows up I already told him he could run it. I should know shortly if he is coming.
Anybody have an extra 4300 motor I might borrow or rent for the day????
Later, Joel

Promatchracer 04-10-2005, 10:04 PM Just a reminder That the track design will be the same on the 23rd as it is for the Trophy
kingpin 04-11-2005, 08:41 AM Wigman and Jake
We are down, just called the Super 8
I will bring the legend and if necessary, 4 cell pan. I will use the race at MP on the 23 to practice the 4 cell pan, but start me out in the sub-novice class anyway.:p
markwest 04-15-2005, 09:30 AM My wife and I are planning a weekend trip to the Soo for that weekend (funny 'eh!!). I would like to run Stock Pancar, and Touring car Roadcourse classes. What is the schedule like on raceday?? Is it usually a tight schedule that would make running two classes a struggle, or is there lots of time between classes and heats??
Do you expect to be able to run three heats on raceday, or is two heats more likely???
Thanks,
Mark
markwest 04-15-2005, 09:40 AM Oh, one more thing,... are there any restricitions on tire traction compound??
I can bring either Paragon, or the Corally stuff. I prefer the Paragon, but can work with either.
Thanks,
Mark
WIGMAN 04-15-2005, 11:27 AM Hey Mark, There should be more than enough time to run both of those classes as we are expecting alot of people.
As for the # of heats I really want to run 3 heats and a main but it all depends on how many people show up as we do have a time that we have to be out of the building and that includes cleaning up, putting tables away and getting the carpet rolled up and put away.
We are going to be starting an hour earlier than last year so hopefully we will be able to run 3 heats, I will know more after everyone has signed up.
See you up here, Joel
markwest 04-15-2005, 01:39 PM Thanks Joel, I'm looking forward to racing in the Soo. I may be able to twist a few friends/relatives into trying R/C on that weekend as well. I've got a couple of 10L pan cars that I can cobble together for them to run... We'll see..
Any comments on traction compounds???
Thanks,
Mark
WIGMAN 04-15-2005, 07:02 PM We have no traction compound rules as of yet, most of us use the good paragon stuff.
See you then, Joel
rowle1jt 04-18-2005, 08:27 AM Should be fun again this year, I getting antsy. Geroge and I will not be up until late friday night as I have to work in MP until 5pm at my new job. Two trips in a row that I;m missing out on the border crossing. :(
Promatchracer 04-18-2005, 09:26 AM Jake you will still make the boarder crossing
YOu should get up here about 9ish or 10 at latest
Jamie Hanson 04-18-2005, 03:57 PM I heard Canada is cracking down on going over the boarder without a Birth Cert or a passport.
WIGMAN 04-18-2005, 09:34 PM that won't take effect until 2007 or 2008, That new law is stupid as hell, it's going to kill the economy in the Soo, both of them.
I'm getting real antsy to race again, only 2 races left in our season.
Later guys, Joel
WIGMAN 04-27-2005, 06:37 AM Just over a week till the trophy race, I hear of lots of people coming, we will have to see who all shows up though.
Have fun in lansing this Friday guys, somebody throw a rope around Nick and drag his but up here for next weekend.
Later, Joel
WIGMAN 05-01-2005, 10:18 AM Alright guys less than a week till the big race in the soo.
Hope everyone has a safe drive up on Fri. or Sat. when ever you plan on coming up, just one thing to remember, we are starting racing at 11 a.m. on Sat. morning(as long as everything goes as planned), I will be starting sign-up Friday night to ty to get everything underway on time on Sat.
I talked to the people at the big bear, we have the building till 10 p.m. so I see no reason why we can't get 3 heats and a main in on race day.
We do have the ambrc system and can use personal transponders. I will have the practice program going so you can see your lap times.
Practice Friday night will begin Friday night as soon as the track is set up, set up will start around 5:30-6:00, road course will be up first since that gets built last, we will alternate roadcourse to oval every half hour till they kick us out somewhere around 10 p.m.
I assume everyone will be having Breakfast at Studabakers again on Sat. morning at 7 a.m., the building will open at 8 a.m. with practice starting as soon as possible, once again alternating every half hour, we will have a drivers meeting between 10:30 and 10:45 with rcaing hopefully starting at 11a.m. sharp.
See you all this weekend, Joel
markwest 05-05-2005, 12:28 AM Joel,
Is there anywhere in the Soo area that I can true up a set of 1/10 pancar tires while at the big race this weekend?? I noticed that the last outing with my pancar was a little rough, and the back tires were chunked badly (maybe I was hungry)! So, I quickly mounted a new set, but won't have a chance to get them trued before I leave for the Soo...
Who will have the longest drive to get to the Soo this weekend? I'm coming from the Niagara area, and am going to log about 8 hours to get there....
Looking forward to the race!!!
Thanks,
Mark
Promatchracer 05-05-2005, 01:12 AM I am sure we can get you hooked up with a truer
I do believe you are coming the fursthest so far
What classes will you be running
we might have a 19t 12th scale road course too
WIGMAN 05-05-2005, 06:36 AM Hey Mark, Look me up when you get there, I have the "community truer" at the track, It is ussually hooked up over by the computer.
See you tomorrow, Joel
markwest 05-05-2005, 07:46 AM Right on!!
That's awesome guys... You run a full service establishment!!
I'm looking to run 1/10 pancar oval (stock), and 1/10 touring roadcourse (stock) as well. I've also thrown in my old 1/12th car if there is any interest in that class. 1/12 is absolutely my favorite class, and has been since the early 90's. I would like to run whatever classes are the most popular. Does it sound like I'm on the right track?? I've thrown in my 19t motor into my toolbox as well, and will switch motors to suit any class (although I can't run a brushless class).
I don't think that I will be able to make it to the track until Saturday. We've got Friday planned with the mother-in-law for a work day around her house. She lives in Bruce Mines, so it is still a drive to get to the track. I can certainly help with the tear-down on Saturday night though...
See ya this weekend!
Mark
kingpin 05-05-2005, 10:11 AM This may not be the record for farthest distance traveled to the Soo, but I think that it may be one of the longest trips. A year or two ago, Jake and Rick met at my place near West Branch so that we could make the rest of the trip together. Jake came up from Mt. Pleasant and Rick from Chesaning. Each had been on the road for a little over an hour when they arrived. We transferred their gear over to my old blue Aerostar, but the extra load made a couple of the tires look a little low on air. I have an air compressor in the barn, but it took about an hour or two of searching high and low for the necessary connectors to get the air chuck connected. By the time Jake and I got it ready, Rick had already pumped up the tire with an old bike pump. Unfortunately he was nowhere to be found. After looking around we found him down on the dock drowning a few worms. I was upset because he was using my new rod and reel which I had not even taken the time to try out yet. We urged him to come along, but when he said that he had a couple of good hits near my favorite spot, I went and got a crank bait and made a couple hundred casts in that direction. After a while I noticed Jake getting a little antsy, so I suggested that we get on the road.
Now since I hit my 60’s, I have started driving a little more conservatively than I did before. I feel that the speed limit is for a perfect driver in a perfect vehicle under perfect conditions, and since there are no parts on the Aerostar that are less than 12 years old, both driver and this vehicle do not meet the criteria. We had a couple of miles of country road before we reached highway 30 going north to town. I usually drive this road very carefully, but with the extra load I was extra watchful especially for crossing deer.
We were approaching a snake crossing the road, so I slowed down a little. Jake was mumbling something and making a grinding noise with his teeth. Just then an Eagle flew down in front of us and snatched up the snake. It surprised me so much that I hit the brake. I didn’t know that a coon and a porky were following us so close, so when I stopped, the coon stopped but the porky didn’t. I don’t know which facial expression was funniest, Jake’s, Rick’s or the snakes. But that was only because I didn’t see the coons face after being rear ended by the porky. Well we got underway again and by the time we got to West Branch we decided to get a bite to eat.
An hour and a half later we were on 75 headed north. As we approached Grayling, Rick said that he heard there was a new Hooters their. We missed the first exit so we doubled back and spent a couple of hours looking for the Hooters with no success. A very heated argument got us back on 75, but headed south by accident. We turned around at Roscommon and north again.
Rick mentioned as we were approaching Gaylord that the new Hooters might be there, but Jake grabbed the wheel and we stayed on 75. Finally at Mackinaw City we decided to stop for some pasties. I had a hard time talking them into stopping but we did. I had bragged about the pasties so much before eating them that I had a hard time admitting that they are not as good as I remembered.
We started out again, and were on the Mighty Mac before we knew it. I love bridges, but when I noticed a cop behind me with his light blinking, I was a little disturbed. He pulled up alongside and angrily yelled "speed it up" This pleased Jake to no end. I was put out at Jake, so when he suggested that we stop in St. Ignace for a burger, I vetoed it. We did do a little sight seeing trip through town though and left heading west on route 2. After 30 miles and another heated discussion Rick woke up and said maybe the Hooters was in Manistique.....
I have to admit that this is not exactly all the truth... My aerostar was actually red.
DJD43 05-05-2005, 10:44 AM Kingpin,
For some reason I believe every word of it. Maybe I just respect my ELDERS.
See you tomorrow night, if you don't go looking for the Hooters. I think Jake may have other plans for tomorrow night. I think you and I need to stay at the track and practice. I have seen you drive.
Don D
Rick Rad 05-06-2005, 08:33 AM Kingpin,
My memory aint what it used to be, but that sounds about right.
rick rad
WIGMAN 05-08-2005, 09:48 AM The racing was fast and furious and mel went home on cloud nine again after his win in the very competitive 4300 brushless class. For once I had a good day during the trophy race and and actually made the "A" for the first time at my own trophy race.
I have to thank everyone for all the help, D.J. and Andy for help running the computer during the day, Jake for his Auto score knowledge and Casey for getting choked by the carpet while we changed the loop under the carpet(long story).
Thanks to all the people that helped switch the track from Oval to On-road and back again, and a big thanks to all the racers that cleaned up after themselves before they left, it made a world of difference when we did clean up.
I do have one question for everyone and it is kind on a sour note, I am told that the Big Bear maintenence guy wastelling people they needed to hurry up and pack their stuff and leave, I know he told that to Big Rob and I have heard he did it to others, If you were one of those people I really want to know about it and what he said, if you don't want to post it here please e-mail me at jwiggins88@sbcglobal.net . I am very sorry to anyone that this happened to, I will be talking to his boss about this and I will get his butt fired if he did this, I am not very hapy about what happened, we had the gym until 10 P.M., Apparently he got to leave as soon as we were done and was thinking we were going to get done early. He was scheduled till 10, we were packed up and gone at 9:45 so he had nothing to bitch about.
Please let me know what he said to you.
Thanks again to everyone for coming and making this race a big success.
I will post the results a little later today.
Joel

7. Greg Dean 25 Laps 1:44.73
8. Rick Radabaugh 23 Laps 1:48.13
This was a great race to watch Ray and Mark clearly had the fastest cars in the beginning till they got together in a wreck. Mark ended up breaking while Ray continued but was almost a lap down when he got going again. Mel took over the lead and never looked back. Ray ended up almost catching 2nd spot The Birthday boy John Sparks but ran out of time. Happy Birthday Sparky.
Oval Stock Truck "A" Main
TQ was Wilkie 62 Laps 5:03.05
1. Butch Bebee 62 Laps 5:03.20
2. Virgil Honson 61 Laps 5:01.83
3. Frank Honson 61 Laps 5:04.15
4. Don Dietsch 58 Laps 5:00.34
5. Mike Lindstom 22 Laps 2:43.65
6. Wilkie 16 Laps 1:15.25
7. Chuck Fairbanks 2 Laps 0:16.67
This one started out a little rough in the back of the pack, Wilkie led the first 16 Laps then fell out with electrical problems, that gave the lead over to Virgil, he and brother Frank were nose to tail till the last 45 seconds when they decided to start battling for the lead, with 30 seconds to go that would cost both a shot at the win as they touched tirs in turn 1 and both wrecked into the boards giving the lead and the win over to Butch, Virgil would finish 2nd and Frank 3rd
4- Cell stock "C" MAin
1. Mark West 62 Laps 5:03.13
2. Rick Radabaugh 62 Laps 5:04.61

4. Don Dietsch 57 Laps 5:00.18
5. George Ferguson 55 Laps 5:01.28
6. D.J. Mansfield 39 Laps 5:17.19
Rick Jumped out to the early lead and led the first 39 Laps then Mark took over from there and led the rest of the way, Mark was running a car with no wing( a nice Dale Sr. paint job on it too), He came all the way from Niagra Falls Ontario Canada to race with us, Thats an 8 hour drive, Thanks for coming Mark.
4-Cell stock "B" Main
1. Casey Brake 67 Laps 5:00.63
2. Calvin Viernes 67 Laps 5:02.83
3. Bob McMurphy 64 Laps 5:03.36
4. Jake Rowley 64 Laps 5:04.18
5. Russell-nator 63 Laps 5:00.06
6. Chuck Manning 57 Laps 5:01.5
Calvin led the first 56 Laps of this one and with Casey closing in had a little contact with a Laped car that alowed Casey to slip by for the win. It would have been a good battle between those two in the closing laps.
4-cell Stock "A" Main
TQ Jamie Hanson 69 Laps 5:00.43 new track Record
1. Jamie Hanson 70 Laps 5:02.04
2. Kieth Racknor 69 Laps 5:02.45

4. Matt Kivi 67 Laps 5:01.02
5. Mel Letts 67 Laps 5:03.38
6. Bob Hendry 44 Laps 3:19.07
Plain and simple Jamie had the car to beat and nobody had a car that could do it in the main, the real battle was for second between Bob and Kieth that had a good battle till an untimely meeting with the inside wall coming out of 4 took Bob out of the race, that gave 2nd to kieth and 3rd to myself, Although there was a good batttle between Jamie and Kieth, Kieth just trying to stay on the lead lap I guess, it made for some good oooohhhhs and aaaahhhssss from the crowd though.
Legends "A" Main

5. Butch Bebe 42 Laps 4:02.03
6. Don Dietsch 40 Laps 4:02.73
Mark led the first couple of laps then Kevin put his legends in overdrive and never looked back.
5800 Brushless "A" Main
TQ Mike Kingsley 63 Laps 4:02.51
1. Mike Kingsley 62 Laps 4:03.63

6. Calvin Viernes 57 Laps 4:02.56
7. Jamie Hanson 17 Laps 1:18.01
8. Jon rohn 1 0:09.6
9. Casey Brake DNS
Mike Led from start to finish but not without a challenge, Jamie and Mike were nose to tail till they got together on lap 16, 3 more laps and Jamie was out, That moved Me (Joel) up to 2nd if you can believe that, I have proof I'm looking at the lap sheet as I type, My car was not fast enough to stay there though as the faster guys finally stopped beating on eachother about lap 22 Kieth and Ray came steaming by me along with Jamie to lap me again, Deano would get by on lap 34 then he wrecked and I got 4th back only to be done in by a thermal shutdown in turn 4 on the last lap, it restarted and I limped across the line wishing I was a bit faster through the corners.
Mike is the Man in 5800 running a couple of 3.7 second laps.
That would do it for Oval now on to the on-road portion
Novice "A" Main
TQ Frank Payment 21 Laps 4:03.64
1. Frank Payment 21 Laps 4:17.31
2. Zachary Horton 20 Laps 4:07.19
3. Scott Honson 18 Laps 4:07.64
4. Terry Haviland 17 Laps 4:00.66
This was a 2 horse race for the most part, both Frank and Zach led alot of laps and both had big leads only to catch a pipe and let the other one catch back up, in the end Frank came out on top with Zach in 2nd, Scott honson had a good race for only his second time this season.
On-Road Stock Truck "A" Main
TQ Frank Honson 33 Laps 5:01.00
1. Frank Honson 33 Laps 5:08.06
2. Bob McMurphy 26 Laps 4:33.08
3. Randy Matheson 26 Laps 5:06.41
4. Terry Baxter 24 Laps 3:56.40
Frank was way faster than the other 3 and went on to an easy win, the other 3 were nose to tail for most of the race traded turns ion 2nd spot, then they started wrecking, with Bob coming out in 2nd and Randy 3rd.
Stock Touring Car "C" Main
1. Russell-nator 32 Laps 5:06.78
2. Andy Hart 31 Laps 5:04.39
3. Terry Haviland 27 Laps 5:01.54
4. Bobby Garrisi 20 Laps 4:26.19
Andy had the early lead holding off a charge from Bobby and then from Russell, he pulled out to a big lead only to see it go Bye Byethanks to a lap 19 meeting with the wall, Russel took over the lead on lap 21 and never looked back. Andy would take 2nd , Bobbyhad 3rd for a while but had some issues with his car that let Terry go by for 3rd.
Stock Touring Car "B" Main
1. Jessie Caston 34 Laps 5:06.87
2. Terry Baxter 32 Laps 5:00.30
3. John Meade 32 Laps 5:03.93
4. D.J. Mansfield 31 Laps 5:05.34
5. Randy Matheson 14 Laps 2:07.14
John had the early lead but that dissapeared with a crash on lap 6, Jessie took over the lead and was there to stay after that Terry and John had a great battle for 2nd for the rest of the race with Terry coming out on top in 2nd.
Stock Touring Car "A" Main
TQ Kevin Marcy 37 Laps 5:02.62
1. Kevin Marcy 38 Laps 5:07.18
2. Frank Honson 37 Laps 5:00.20
3. Mark West 35 Laps 5:06.22
4. JB Meade 34 Laps 5:02.24
5. Calvin Viernes 34 Laps 5:05.16
The last race of the day say a great Battle between Kevin and Frank, they were clearly the ones to beat, Kevin lead from start to finish but not without several challenges from Frank, until Frank had a slight meeting with the wall that gave Kevin a little breathing room and never caught back up Mark West ended up 3rd after his 8 hour drive from Canada.
Thats how it all went down, we wil see you all again soon I hope.
