Hey slottists, Whats the going rates on running AFX MAG & NON- MAG chassis. I was bidding last nite on a bunch and seems they are going for around $11.oo a piece. Guess its how bad you want EM and what your willing to pay. I just got a pile of old bodies and am in need of at least a dozen chassis. Ive got the tires, brushes and shoes. Any ideas on where to pick some up that may require work. Thanx

Buy a case of JL X-tractions, around $50... Resell the bodies and save even more. These are as fast or faster than the regular A/FX chassis... plus they are brand new. otherwise check with Slot Car Johnnies... he has execellent prices on Chassis.
If you want Afx chassis under those old bodies, non-mag chassis can be had cheaper because they're not as desireable as MT chassis. I'd recommend going to a slot show, you'll get much better prices (for a bulk purchase) on chassis at a show.

The $11.00/ea. price for genuine Aurora AFX and Magnetraction rollers isn't a bad price if they are in good shape. The JL XTs are near clones of the Magnetractions. Neither the XT nor the Magnetraction is the same as a regular AFX if that's what you really want.
As rodstrguy points out the XTs can often be found quite cheap and dealers like Bud's sells the XT chassis for about $5.00 each. The production quality, fit, and finish of the old Aurora chassis (TuffOnes and Magnetraction) is undoubtedly better than the Johnny Lightning versions but the JLs more than hold their own on the track. There are very slight but noticeable size differences between the Aurora and JL chassis that may make an original Aurora body (or JL bodies produced before they did slot cars) fit "not quite right" on a JL chassis. It's more apparent on the TJet chassis and is usually easily correctable.
