hotel room will not be required

1 day race

will the racing be as close as the speedway race?
it's not very often all the oval heads get together to race. but when they do the racing is awesome!

any questions katf1sh@earthlink.net

TQ hobbies web site for directions and hotel info:

www.tqhobbies.com/ (http://www.tqhobbies.com/)

also the battery ballot is 22 against allowing any new cells in the series for 2005 and 7 for allowing them in the pro classes only. the ballot counting will end friday.

Allrightey then racers. The next big race for all of us to congregate at is this one. Who's gonna show up for it? If the racing is as close as Daytona was it'll be anybody's race to win.

Anybody have an idea of how big or small the track will be and if it'll be smooth or bumpy?

Last year there were several racers that said gimme asphalt. Well guess what? You got it. every race this year is outdoors on asphalt. Yippeeeeee.

Cant wait to see everyone again.

Aren and I will be there...breakout for Aren, 1/12 for me and either stock or Nastruck...can't decided yet...TQ compared to our track tiny LOL compared to Strickland a little bit smaller. I believe it a sealed asphault. They like to spray the track for grip. I haven't raced on it yet but I seen it twice.

TQ hobbies is about the size of race rock it will be our bristol race for the year. they have lots of power but don't be affraid to bring your own.. oh and bring them long cords to reach the power as well!

7 am the track should be ready or at the very least you can start getting set-up at day light. they do have power but you will need a extension cord. we will have at least 4 hours of practice, plus everyone will have the same amount of practice.

also i have been getting interest in brushless.....i will be allowing a brushless class to run as a promotional class in 2005..entry is 15.00 as long as 3 or more show up they can run. i haven't heard or seen any at our local tracks here in northern florida or heard about any in the tampa area. but more than a few from down south have shown a interest. this may work out well because i'm not sure how many hot rods are going to show up?

Kool... :) I think I just found my second class to run. I've run brushless a couple times at HW in trucks until someone didn't like it and in my touring car for breakout. Count me in for one brushless....two more to go....I know there's more out there...

Kat I just got done painting a new Dodge Body for a friend. I noticed that this body has no mold lines for the tail lights. it actualy has a cut line to cut the entire back out. Is FOCAR going to make you run tail lights? if so how big must they be? because the dodge tail lights are like 3 of the monte carlo ones.

Thanks

Yeppers. I left mine in there to the size of the included decals. They are huge and I noticed that even the Nascar guys run what looks like an abbreviated version as compared to the real street cars. Thats strange since they dont cut the back of their cars out. Maybe it has something to do with the trunk lid size and spoiler brackets they have. When I get to that last .010 second of lap time that I just cant seem to find, Out come the scissors baby. Them puppies are history. They do give the back of the body some support.

dave for 2005 the tail lights can be cut out. those who went to the speedway race were handed a packet with all that info. those who did not attend can have them sent to them via email. they should also be up on the web site very soon. thanks bill

i sure hope nobody shows up only to pack up and leave because the track does not meet their approval. sorry you weren't good enough to run with us!
we all had fun on the slick track

b.t.w. i was talking about pooler

willis.

katf1sh
04-07-2005, 05:14 PM
willis that is the very reason i am going over to TQ sunday. the traction must meet normal operating standards. the first race of the year, and if the track is not up to par it would be the last race as well, lol. driving 6 hours and only to find out we couldn't practice at a indoor track because it was wet kinda put a dampner on things for us.

if TQ for some crazy reason is not up to par i would warn all the members ahead of time.i do not want anyone traveling and burning fuel only to find the racing is horrible.first impressions are very important, and doubly so with a series.

once you become a focar member you are a member for life!
motors are available race day stocks 25.00 and 19 turns are 30.00 thanks to big dog r/c for the motors.

your first class is 25.00 second and so on are 15.00
practice is free all day race day up until race time.
it looks like tim davis will be our guest announcer race day
it looks like i will be the tech god,i'm shady so don't try and slip anything past me! lol
if we get to run at TQ sunday i will pass on what works (tire sauce, compounds, gearing etc...) i'm not racing this year so anything i learn i will pass on if it helps? lol

TQ is the only track on the schedule that has not run a oval race in the past or present. this is why we are having a warm up race this sunday. i want it to be a good experience for everyone on the 16th.

now billy bruce and mike bean have run there oval cars at TQ months back and have reported that the track is killer and the racing should be awesome. i need to run on it myself so i can see for myself. check back here sunday night for a report..set-up help and other info......i will see a few of you saturday night at strickland, can't wait!

thanks bill any questions katf1sh@earthlink.net

ok track update:

i tested there all day with both stock and 19 turn motors.
what i found that worked the best for me:

pargon, nif tech and gripper did not work nearly as well as RED DOT,STICK ET AND TANGERINE TACK.

i ran rc4less pink lr magenta lf purple rf and magenta rr with tangerine tack

19 turn roll out was 2.14 stock roll out was 2.26 this should get you close

lap times were 3.9s in 19 turn and 4.5s in stock those were my best times...

traction was good, surface is smooth and free of bumps..drivers stand is super high up. a/c bathrooms indoors. tons of power please bring a 25 foot cord or longer.

TRACK WILL BE RADY TO PRACTICE ON SATURDAY THE 16TH AT 8 AM
YOU CAN BEGIN TO SET UP TRAILERS AND PITS BEFORE THAN!
FRIDAY IS NOT AN OPTION BECAUSE THEY ARE RACING THAT NIGHT.
THEY HAVE AWESOME LIGHTING, SO WE WILL NOT BE IN A RUSH..WE WILL ALL GET PLENTY OF PRACTICE ON THE TRACK.

CAR SET-UP should be alot like race rock or mtr park..the lanes are about 20 feet wide maybe wider. ifmar start for all 3 rounds and a main for all classes.

i had fun on the track,it's not a super speedway so give and take is a must.
i hope to see you all there, the track is ready for us to take over, lol. see you all saturday the 16th of april.... bill

Win or lose, I LOVE TO RACE!!!
At this time my car has issues that I can not correct before this weekend.
I have found out that the car that I have now does not like the short tracks.
(I love racing on short tracks)
I was having the same problem at the last Race Rock in 19t.
The car is just undrivable with any set-up at small tracks. I don't like to be the cause of all the wrecks and have several people mad at me.
So I will correct it!
