View Full Version : New IN, OH, MI Off-Road and Oval
woodytx 03-19-2005, 03:50 PM Wanted to post about a new track going in in Fremont IN. That is were the 80/90 toll road intersects I-69. That makes it an easy drive for all three states. The track should open in early May. I hear they will run clay ovals on Friday nights under the lights if needed. Then off-raod on Saturdays.
scorgon 03-20-2005, 05:53 PM Keep us posted with schedual and pictures of the track. I hope the off-road isn't part of the oval...
woodytx 03-20-2005, 06:27 PM Will do for sure. The oval is a seperate track with a drivers stand in the middle. Both will be clay. There are lighting is already up. The area is zoned comercial and the city has given the knod to proceed. There is plenty of room for parking and expansion. It is going to be a really nice track in great location.
scorgon 03-21-2005, 10:21 AM What about Nitro....
olecarnewguy 03-21-2005, 05:33 PM oh yeah a new track close to home i can't wait i guess i have to get the nitro ready to run oh yeah well boys time to turns some laps in the dirt
cory30 03-21-2005, 07:23 PM How big is the off-road going to be? Any pictures?
mburton92 03-22-2005, 08:41 AM What oval classes are looked at being offered?
Posting track info on Dirtoval.com may generate more dirt oval interest.
woodytx 03-22-2005, 10:00 PM Thanks for the tip mburton92. Yes they are going to run nitro classes. Off Road track will have lanes 12 feet wide. The be in an area roughly 160 x 50. There will be a pit road for refuling nitro's etc. The deck of the drivers stand will be 11ft high about 25 feet long. I will post pics as the become available. I don't know the first thing about oval so I really can not answer you there. I know that the owner is pretty set on Friday nights for oval and saturdays for off road with no Sunday racing except for special events.
tafog 03-23-2005, 02:34 PM will there be a onsite hobby shop?
Also woundering why with another track as close as Fort Wayne why they would race on the same day Saturday offroad. this seams to me to be bad for both tracks splitting racers and making them choose which to race at. as we seen this past winter with two oval tracks one angola and one ft wayne both had marginal(sp) turn outs in the long run it is not the best thing. but if we could get both of these track to work together then maybe both will thrive. I know Ft wayne does not offer Nitro classes but they have a big turnout for electric. I guess what I am saying is the pool of racer in this area is small to medium in size why not try to keep them together not split them up...
what kind of scoring system? will personal transpounders be used?
and pictures would be great
thanks
cory30 03-23-2005, 07:51 PM Where is the track located? I am familiar with the area.
woodytx 03-23-2005, 09:47 PM I know that there will be some inventory for repairs etc. How much I can not say and I would stop short of calling it a hobby shop since you won't be able to buy other hobby supplies.
I hear you on splitting racers but Sunday, for many, is family and church day. Also there are some folks that will not drive to FT. Wayne to race every week but will drive to Fremont, my self included. I have the same concearns about the track in Litchfield. No way would I want to hurt Ken's track. My kids and I will do our best to support both tracks and still make it to FT. Wayne some. Maybe it makes more since to run the Electric Off Road on Friday Nights, Then Nitro and Oval on Saturday?
The AMB system from the indoor oval that was in Angola which is pretty much new.
The property is north of the toll way and west of 69. It is zoned comercial although the family has a couple of houses and a pole barn on the property. There are light standards with power already on installed so they just need the lights.
tafog 03-24-2005, 02:14 PM I have never been to angola track well this track use personal transponders?
any thought to opening date yet I would love to come up and run some Nitro..:)
oh! when I come to track I have parts in my pit trailer would selling them be a problem for whom ever is there with parts? just checking don't want to step on any toes.

Jimjoni - you the owner of the new track or just helpin' out? Looks like a good, wide layout. I haven't seen tentative classes listed... but I presume my 27-turn stock 2WD B4 buggy has a spot, right? I was going to leave the off-road stuff in Arizona this summer, but now I've got a reason to pack everything. I'll keep watching the posts on this forum...

ovalt3 04-05-2005, 10:05 PM This weekend Kevin would like as many people out there as possible to get things done. We will be working on the drivers stand and the oval so come out and bring some rakes (just dont let Jim use them) hammers and what ever you want. The soon we get this done for Kevin the sooner we can practice and start racing. (off-road might get done after we start the oval but if we get enough help out there maybe start at the same time.) hoping for early May start on race season.

DJ1978 04-06-2005, 07:49 AM How far from Pokagan state park??
North of there where the go carts and small amusement park is? Anywhere in that area will be a great location.
Look forward to making the drive and racing with you!
