View Full Version : Question about reviving an old car

I have an Open Door Topper Custom Ferrari. I would say it is in C6 or C7 maybe, everything is there and no dents gouges, nicks or the like, glass is OK, wheel chrome is worn and paint is about 65%.

So, my question is, do I redo it and make it look like or better than new? or do I leave it alone in its original condition?

I paid very little for it, relatively speaking so my initial cost has no bearing on it.

I would love to see it brought back to its original glory, but would hate to completely destroy the collectibility of it as it is an open door version... there is probably somebody out there that would love to have it in their collection as it is.

Comments??

bring it back to life. I'm sure you have no intentions of selling it, so make it look like its brand new.

Unless the paint is real bad my personal opinion is to leave it as is. As a collector I would rather get an un-restored original then one that has been repainted.

you might want to talk about this on the customs board. I'm sure there are people who could advise you or even possibly restore this little gem for you if you are interisted.

if it's not a "showpiece", then paint that baby....heck, let the kids paint it for you....give them a psychadelic vw hippie bus and say "here, i want it to look kinda like this"

Being one like yourself, who likes to collect Ferraris, I think that an open door version is awesome. If its bagged up and those nicks and brusies were of your making then it means something to you. If not then fixin' it up for your pleasure is what I suggest. As to the collectability, Just tell whoever is interested that this one was restored to your liking and let them decide if they want it.

Just my 2 cents.
