View Full Version : Capital District R/c Outlaws 2005 Season
FASTALJR 03-17-2005, 11:50 PM Well its just bout that time again, figured I`d start a thread. As far as I`m concerened we are shooting for a mid may start date. I will be working on the track as soon as the snow melts. Some items that have to be addressed which I have already in the works, a new nail board just in time for the first track grooming, new inside walls, a removeable wall section for the track enterence, and hopefully a fully functional splitter for the scoring system. Also I`m hoping to get some extra lighting on the offroad track as well.
AS for the scoring and computer issues from last year, I`m confident I have those worked out. I will have new sign up sheets, so that will go smoother, as well a new start time hopefully every night at 7:15.
So far the classes that I am expecting:
edm Gearbox Stock
Mini-t open (BRUSHED CLASS ONLY)
Offroad Truck
Possible new classes:
edm gearbox mod????
1/18 4wd (BRUSHED CLASS ONLY)
1/18 open (brushless).(mini-t or 18t/spyder)
1/10th 4wd?
we will race any class if we get 3 or more cars
I will be grooming the track as soon as the weather improves(or at least starting to), I may need some help with lighting, and the electrical work, at some point I will have a flyer in Competition, as well as notice here on the boards.
The track was in pretty good condition last year, so I think we should be all set as far as racing surface goes, The inner plastic walls will be replaced totally, as well as a new scoring wire.
See everyone in a few months!
Fast AL
a.k.a Mr.Race Director
Wedekind 03-18-2005, 12:20 AM So monday nights will be small oval and wednesday nights will be off-road / full oval?
FASTALJR 03-18-2005, 09:03 AM yup, I`m not involved with the short oval. The only involvement is when I groom the "entire" track, and I race direct on Wed.
Wedekind 03-18-2005, 11:20 PM Ill be there wednesday doing off-road and i know a couple guy's that will be do mini-t
Solartech 03-19-2005, 02:03 AM Anything goes for mini-t open? any battery and motor(brushless)? And is that for the oval track(Wendsday night?)
FASTALJR 03-19-2005, 12:24 PM no, brushless is the 1/18 open class, I dont want to have mini-t`s with mod motors, and stock motors running with brushless. Besides I think brushless is too much for dirt.
6 cell pack max in mini-t open, and yes the big oval, I will print up rules for the classes in a few days and post them.
Solartech 03-20-2005, 06:02 PM sorry , I didnt read you post closely enough! I see an open mini-t and a Brushles 18th class. Will there be a battery type limit in brushless 18th class?
FASTALJR 03-21-2005, 09:23 AM I`m not sure if I will allow lipo`s just yet, but as of right now 6 cell limit on all classes.
Solartech 03-22-2005, 11:45 PM Well I am all for it !! :) Li-po batterys are the future of R/C. No more matching or team packs and special exspensive chargers. These could actualy lower the price of racing. Considering you would only need one set to race with.
oldnewbie 03-23-2005, 08:39 AM OFFROAD! Woot woot! im gonna race my b4 , so come people bring your buggies too!
see ya there
al, what will you be using for an inner wall on the oval?
and i will be able to help with the electrical and lighting
Razoo 03-23-2005, 09:22 AM Al-
Can I use lipos in my B4 for off road? 2 cell-3300mah pack
Wedekind 03-23-2005, 12:09 PM I am deffently racing off-road truck, I may bring the mini-t out too and see what happends.
RCRacer45s 03-29-2005, 07:41 PM Any interest in a dirt late model class? I have 2 factory team TC3's laying around i would love to run on dirt.
oldnewbie 03-29-2005, 07:53 PM i know they did last year on the short track, and i know vic will be running his tc3 latemodel
KirtC 03-29-2005, 08:40 PM The 4 WD Late Model class will definitely be back on Monday nights as part of the only Club with "Capital DIstrict" in it's name CD R/C Racers (LOL)
I'm kidding AL !!!!! Don't waste your valuable time typing a reply, please!

disruptor10 03-30-2005, 03:25 PM What the DILLIO ? Is it time to go dirt racin yet ?
Razoo 03-30-2005, 03:33 PM CDRC website says May 9th is warm-ups with points starting on the 16th.

stock or 19t? Foam tires? I dont wanna spend a crazy amount of money due to my 1:1 scale project this summer so the less i have to buy the better. I know of at least one other person who is might run his tourer on the dirt as well.
oldnewbie 03-30-2005, 05:40 PM the track was so slippery last year, you didnt have to run 19 turn, they were doing more laps with the stock motor, and they use foam tires
KirtC 03-30-2005, 09:12 PM 19 T for sure. When Eric was running his and Chris L got my ride going they where doing more laps than the EDMs. 4" high side panel, almost the length of the car, foams only, I think we ran pinks all the way around (Mike or Eric correct me if I'm wrong). They turn like carpet on the way in, the trick is getting the push -off to a minimum.
I expect the track to be better this year as we have a couple of great volunteer track stewarts and are going to try to get a watering system installed that is simple enough for Fisler to operate. LOL LOL
Real Racers so it in the Dirt.:dude:
See Ya .........At The Track
RCRacer45s 03-30-2005, 09:36 PM hmmm...i might have to give it a shot.
FASTALJR 04-01-2005, 09:28 PM Kirt???? who is working on the track? and what is this watering system going to intail. My question is why do we need a watering system? I would like to know, as no real track has an in ground watering system to my knowledge. WHat happens when it is left on, and the track is a pond the next day? If its inground, what happens when the pipes break????? As I sit here and wonder why a hose isnt sufficient, one four letter word comes to mind L......... well you should know what I`d like to say so I guess I leave it to the imagination, but as the race director on Wed and the one who always re grooms the track, I should be made aware of this.
Feel Free to e-mail me, preventerwind@msn.com
KirtC 04-01-2005, 10:16 PM Al Al AL A a Legend In Your MIND
First, I'm getting a little tired of that you claim to be the only one that works on the oval track, you are one of many; but the only one that get PAID !!!!!! So can it.
So that everyone can see the post in question, as it 's from Dirtoval, I'm copied it below. It says "keep in touch", ....so I can explain it further....
This system would allow you to tun on the system (or heaven forbid we have moisture sensors in the ground and it turns itself on) and work on your car, rather than have to do all the hose work by hand.
Copied from Dirt Oval
Hey there Al
Good to see you've got the Spring fever already. We definitely want to get together to work-share getting the track ready this Spring. Eric and Rich are going to be our Track Crew Chiefs and I'm sure we'll have other sas well.
I have talked with Howie on this and he's up for it; Todd from the T/C class is in the spinkler and irregation business. He has offered to get us what we need to put a permanent watering system for the oval!! This woiuld be a professional grade type of system that would allow us to "moisten" the track daily without over-watering it. So lets keep in touch to make sure we have any trenching or ditching done before you start the final grading.
We also need to add some down-spouts and drainage off the drivers stand, as we all know the front stretch was washed out at least three times last year, and I rather spend some time fix'n now Vs every other weeek.
See Ya Later ...........At The Track
Kirt
Remember: If you always do what you 've always done, you'll only get what you've always gotten in the past.
CALL ME or better yet, come to the Club's last race on Apr 10th and we can plan the whole thing.
See Ya ......... At The Tack
FASTALJR 04-02-2005, 08:32 PM Well first of all I dont get paid to drag the track, I get paid what little I do to race direct aand take all the crap (and I like to race, and wouldnt care even if I wasnt paid), and actually some or most of the money is going into building a new nail board, which is being built in my garage as we speak. The dragging, is on my own time, and I do it because no one would if I didnt. But lets think of all of the records that went down the monday after I did it, and lets remember all the footprints left in the big track turn, that I have had to fix, which I informed you about and was told by an unamed party from your club that it was tough $h!t!
So basically I`m saying right now I`m washing my hands of the track work, I`m leaving it up to you. If you think u can do it better , then go right ahead. All I`m saying is that the WHOLE TRACK HAS TO BE DRAGGED.
I pick up all the garbage, (or whatever I can) including the crap thats left from MONDAY! There has been a chair left from Monday night that still sits on ythe backstraight wall on the outside for almost a year now, as well as foam from the god forsaken inside wall that is nothing more than a parts breaker.
I do what I can to keep the big track alive, and in my opinion the short track shouldnt even be there. The track was fine as it is. Your getting quite the free ride as it as well so I wouldnt talk.
Lastly why dont u make sure 100% you know whats going on before you open your big mouth.
FASTALJR
p.s.
(this post is my opinion alone, and no one elses.)
VicTC3 04-03-2005, 01:34 PM As a guy who likes to run both tracks i will offer both of you what help and time i have. be it weekend or weeknight just give the word and ill do my best to be there.
you can reach me at bkdog50@aol.com
"Real Racers do it in the Dirt" lol i love that one kirt
Al my offer still stands any time you want to wheel my late model you got it.
maybe we can get a class started on the big track. now that would really be a blast.
vic
KirtC 04-03-2005, 02:25 PM Al
Thank you, Apology accepted
We can work together on the track with all the volunteers that are stepping up.
Kirt
FASTALJR 04-03-2005, 04:34 PM beleive me that wasnt an apology, and I`m still gonna have to drag the track regardless.
Rcracer7 04-04-2005, 11:29 AM I can't understand why everyone is getting so upset lately. It looks from the carpet thread that theres going to be an all out war between several people, and now here not even at the bottom of the first page we have people throwing punches already.
Dad: Whenever you try and type a joke on the internet it sounds like an insult. You may want to try another approach. Also, theres no reason in getting on Al's case for trying to organize this summer's dirt racing early. Heed your own advice and work together. The phone lines go the other direction too.
A few weeks ago I couldn't until this summer so I could race again, but I've been turned off to the whole idea of it with all the fighting lately. No way I want to go to the race track and have to listen to grown men yell at each other over some toy cars. Lets put these issues behind us and try to do the best we can for EVERYONE racing at EITHER track this summer. I get home from school the weekend of May 14th, so if I can ever help work on the track after that just let me know.

Yes, I'm sorry I've done it again. I will heed my own advise.
Al, apologies on my part.
Hope to see you on Sunday, the DIRT meeting will be at 2:30PM
Thanks
Kirt
Solartech 04-12-2005, 10:50 PM :dude: Hey when are you going to post the rules for the classes? I am hopeing to use my li-po batterys in the 18th brushless class.
disruptor10 04-13-2005, 06:22 AM Hey Phil ...I will check with Al today at work to see wahts up with the rulzzzzz.......................Dave
Solartech 04-13-2005, 08:44 AM Thanx Dave, What class are you going to be racing on wendsday?
DaleB 04-13-2005, 11:08 AM Can any of you guys describe the texture of the dirt you have down, I'm in Springfield Missouri and we are desperately trying to find the right dirt to start this type of racing around here, you guys sound like you know what you're doing, so any help would be great
oldnewbie 04-13-2005, 11:51 AM i think its clay but im not sure....anyone?
disruptor10 04-13-2005, 07:12 PM yup its clay for sure brown , not sure if red clay works but get clay for sure ,it stays pretty good but sometimes a pain to maintain ....
phil ........ i'll get back to ya tomorrow .......Dave
oldnewbie 04-13-2005, 07:52 PM Dave- are you gonna race offroad?
tony
disruptor10 04-13-2005, 09:32 PM not sure yet, wanna race some oval mini but who knows......would also like to race some 1/10th truck oval also
RCer12A 04-13-2005, 09:53 PM If anyone is interested We got a spot to showcase our RC cars and drift them in Tuner Wars in Lake George on June 4th and 5th. We were hoping to get more people interested and host it through the club to get more people to come. So the more people we have to drift(four wheel drive with any motor perferably mod it goes better) it will be even better. Get back to us so we can make plans.
*Tom*
oldnewbie 04-13-2005, 10:09 PM im gonna race my b4 on offroad, i wanna try to get more buggies out there on weds. nights.
Solartech 04-13-2005, 10:52 PM not sure yet, wanna race some oval mini but who knows......would also like to race some 1/10th truck oval also
Hope fully you are going to run a brushless motor in it. A brushed mini is just plane slow on the big oval!
Wedekind 04-13-2005, 11:02 PM im gonna race my b4 on offroad, i wanna try to get more buggies out there on weds. nights.
I may get a buggy and race truck and buggy, Once i found out the track is useable i want to go down to set up
oldnewbie 04-13-2005, 11:46 PM last year we ran both classes in one race because there were maybe 2 buggies at the most
FASTALJR 04-14-2005, 02:12 PM AS of right now, me and Disruptor discussed this. I`m gonna make a real descion on classes after the first 2 weeks. The first two weeks, will be
2wd open (brushed)
4wd open (brushed)
1/18th brushless open
Once I see what kind of crowd I will most likely segregate the classers further
Rules for the classes will be posted as soon as I can see what classes, and skill levels I get. Basic rules for brushed classes, any brushed motor, and you have to use either foams, or street tread rubber tires.
Brushless will be allowed 2 cell lipoly ONLY! same tire rule.
Both classes are open body.
I will run offroad 1/18th if we get 5 or more cars.
FASTALJR
A.K.A Mr. Race Director
disruptor10 04-14-2005, 07:02 PM Phil
hope that answers your question for now . as far as myself i ran my RC18T with a 19T on carpet and it was plenty of fast enough for me. I'm not sure anyone we'll be able to really lay the horsepower down but we'll see.....can't wait to race outdoors 4 sure ......hope all is well
one last question PHIL , how much to redo my 2 ft windows ? I would like them darker.....LMK............Dave
Wedekind 04-14-2005, 09:09 PM Dave, I saw Phil's mini-t with brushless run and wow that is fast. It makes me want one, I was just about to trade my MRO2 for a brushless system but he sold it instead. see you soon. :)
disruptor10 04-15-2005, 06:31 AM i dont doubt that it's fast, just how controllable it will be on dirt and how much it wrecks when it hits the wall or gets punted at those speeds.........we will see what goes on ya know.......all in good fun.......................Dave
Solartech 04-15-2005, 03:49 PM i dont doubt that it's fast, just how controllable it will be on dirt and how much it wrecks when it hits the wall or gets punted at those speeds.........we will see what goes on ya know.......all in good fun.......................Dave
My mini-t is fast but contolable. With gearing and the adjustable esc you can detune the motor and adjust the throttle curve with a laptop. A brushed motor just seems too slow on the big dirt oval and I was running a Baha motor too. When is the track open? And Dave for your 1:1 scale car the tint would be $25 a window to darken.
disruptor10 04-15-2005, 08:27 PM Ah yes Phil i always forget about being able to de-tune the speedo's, I keep bugging al about an opening day so we'll see, i will bug him some more next week.......as far as brushless i will run what i have for now, maybe upgrade later when i get the xtra cash..........as far as my 1:1 scale car i will call u and set it up sometime OK ? I just wanna start racin something soon ...thanks for all your help Phil....... I know Kevin S that works in the hobby shop PT has a brushless and i know of one other guy also so u guys runnin them should spark some intrest 4 sure, What kind of brushless do u have phil the Mamba ?
