Please help. I am relatively new to the sport, with a xxxnt that won't stay running. I have set the needles to the reccommended settings, checked for air leaks, and got new gas. The car will start when I have a charged starter if I squirt a little gas in the plug hole first. It screams for a few seconds and dies. Over and over the same thing. It's making me crazy. You'd think it was fuel, but I make sure the fuel is filling the hose to the engine. what is going on? please help before i put this thing in the river.

It clearly sounds like the engine is NOT getting enough fuel... Hard to say why, but it is just so lean that it only burns the fuel you are squirting in, then it quickly screams and dies due to no new fuel coming in... Richen the mixtures, make sure the pressure line is working to "pump" fuel to the carb... It is possible some dirt is plugging the carb needle area, but...? You should never have to squirt fuel into the engine -- the pressure line should push plenty of fuel in when you crank the engine...

I think you are right, it does seem like a fuel problem. Maybe I'll replace the fuel lines and make sure there's no leak in the tank and try again.
thanks for your help.

I took apart the carb and blew into the fuel nipple. Guess what, nothing was getting through! I poked wire through it, shook it, blew air through the carb and eventually, it opened. I don't know what the clog was, but it came out. Runs like a champ.
