Please help me with some questions about rear steer on oval pan cars. Will it help corner speeds. What type tracks and how much rear steer works best.

Rear steer is designed for corner speed. Generally, 5 degrees works well on a short tight flat track. The rear steer turns the pod so that the wheels will drive towards the wall. Also making the right wheelbase longer than the left. This helps the car turn better through the corners. Sometimes in modified racing, you'd go the other way. Make the rear tires drive towards the infield to help the car gain bite on exit. Rule of thumb is that when the rear is driving towards the wall, it will loosen the car and vise versa. Another thing to remember is that the rear tires will always be driving at an angle so it will cause tire scrub and drag down the straights. On long straights that may actually slow you down and burn up the tires quicker.

isnt 1 degree the max???? all ive ever seen for options on any car are 1/8th, 1/4,1/2,3/4 of a degree of rear steer... 5 sounds a bit to agressive..

we have found 1/8th and 1/4 degree works well on our 365 foot cap tire asphalt track.. i think it depends on the car and the track mainly.. ask the fast guy at the track what they think..

.5 degree's which is 1/2 of a degree. 5.0 degrees it better be a soupbowl for that much.

Personally I have never liked rear steer at any track I have run. Just a preference I guess.
