View Full Version : Episode III Revenge of the Sith New Trailer
capt Locknar 03-11-2005, 03:56 AM Well I just viewed the Episode III trailer and man does it look good.
Oh man this looks good. Talk about some manipulation of poor ol anakin.
"Are you threatening me Master Jedi"
There's a ship in there that looks like the Tydirium with half its upper wing cut off!!
It sure looks like a Tantive 4 class ship in there too
It looks as if Palpatine gets some lightsaber action too
No sign of the Falcon though, Plenty of WOOKIES though
Interesting.
I already have my tickets and I hope ol lucas doesn't disappoint me like he did with Episode 1
Matthew Green 03-11-2005, 09:49 AM Like alot of us who didn't watch the OC, is there a LINK we can see?
MartinHatfield 03-11-2005, 11:28 AM The preview is currently available to "Hyperspace" members at www.starwars.com (http://www.starwars.com) , and it is supposed to be avialable at the AOL trailers page.
www.starwars.com (http://www.starwars.com) will make it public later today or this weekend.
Alos check out www.aintitcoolnews.com (http://www.aintitcoolnews.com) for possible downloadable versions of the trailer.
This trailer is the coolest thing that I have seen coming from Lucasfilm in a long time. I don't see how Lucas can screw this one up (although I know he can)
BTW, that actually IS the Tantive IV in the trailer. It is Bail Organa's personal ship in the film. One of the last shots of the movie is supposed to be rather familiar. See it below.....
The Corellian corvette in RotS is supposed to be Tantive IV. Also, (and I hope this is only a rumor,) the last scene on the trailer takes place on a complete recreation of the Executor bridge set from ESB.
Zorro 03-11-2005, 12:07 PM If I were any more non-plussed about this movie, I would be minused.
MartinHatfield 03-11-2005, 12:14 PM The final shot of Vader and Palpatine is indeed shot aboard a Republic Star Destroyer, but not the Executor. That ship is not even built by the end of Episode 3.
George Lucas and others have confirmed in online chats and videos that the Tantive IV is used in Episode 3 as Bail Organas personal ship. We see Obi-Wan, Yoda, Padme, and the droids escape from Coruscant onboard her.

Hit the "Free" download link at the bottom and be patient.
Matthew Green 03-11-2005, 12:32 PM Link didn't work...Oh well...
Just worked for me. Try again.
It's not "instant". That's why I said "be patient". There's a countdown timer at the bottom for how long you have to wait for the download to start.
Dave Hussey 03-11-2005, 01:04 PM Anybody notice how sinister old Annakin / Hayden Christensen (sp?) looks in the trailer? It appears to be quite a change from his look in the last movie.
Huzz
El Gato 03-11-2005, 01:28 PM ^ You mean he doesn't look like a leering, constipated piece of wood?
José
Dave Hussey 03-11-2005, 02:56 PM Well, yes actually!! :jest:

Did not work for me.
It states that there will be an issue with proxy-servers. Might be my issue.

For those of us who haven't seen it yet...Here is a TON of sites offering the links...
Man, is THAT cool or what?
The final shot of Vader and Palpatine is indeed shot aboard a Republic Star Destroyer, but not the Executor. That ship is not even built by the end of Episode 3.
From what I've read, the Executor bridge was "faithfully recreated" for the final scene in RotS. Unless the RSD bridges are identical to that (or the Imperator class makes its debut in this movie), I'd say it's another slight against the EU.
chiangkaishecky 03-11-2005, 04:35 PM That new desperate-for-ratings entertainment business show on Headline News "Showbiz Tonight"? will probably show the trailer. The female cohost is a self-admitted Star Wars fan tho' not a prequel fan.
Access Hollywood showed some of it yesterday so maybe they'll show it today.
There's a Lucas segment on 60 Minutes this Sunday so there'll prolly be lots of E3 bits on that show.
My only criticism of the trailer is the unconvincing virtual environments of the duel.
Like the virtual environs of the Phantom duel they don't look so hot <pun intended>.
sbaxter at home 03-11-2005, 04:39 PM I'd say it's another slight against the EU.
I seriously -- I mean SERIOUSLY -- doubt this was a "slight" against the EU. Lucas probably doesn't think about such things enough to be concerned with slighting them, and why should he? It is his creation.

El Gato 03-11-2005, 06:02 PM ^ At the risk of sounding like an idiot, what's this "EU"?? The only EU I know of is the European Union. I don't think you guys are talking about that.
José
chiangkaishecky 03-11-2005, 06:23 PM AFAIK, EU refers to the expanded Star Wars universe as chronicled in Lucasfilm sanctioned (tho' not necessarily canon) merch like novels, comics, vidyagames, lunchboxes, ankle sox etc.
I'm no expert so I'm sure there are more subtle distinctions.
MartinHatfield 03-11-2005, 06:31 PM EU refers to the Expanded Universe of Star Wars beyond the movies. The novels, comics, and video games have taken liberties at times with the history of the Star Wars universe. However, this has usually been with GL's blessing.
When the new novels first started back in the early 90's, the only rule the writers had was that they could not write stories concerning Darth Vader or his pre-Ep. IV history. GL was already working on the prequels at the time, and he didn't want anybody messing with that time period.
Of course anybody could find problems between GL's "canon" SW universe and the EU, but the EU is a fun way to look at the SW universe and imagine "what if?"
Hell, look at the Trek stuff. There are over a hundred novels detailing stories of Kirk and company that don't gel with the movies and TV shows, but that is the fun of it. Just like we all like to kitbash Trek models to create ships that have never, and will never be seen in a Paramount authorised setting.
Oh, and the Executor was introduced in The Empire Strikes Back with that dramatic shadow covering the other ships scene. That was the purpose of the scene. The ship in Ep. III is one of the SD's that we see in the previews.
This info comes from the Official site.
The general rule with the Exanded Universe is that it's all considered canon by default, provided it doesn't conflict with something in the films. If it does, the films take precedence.
In other words, anything on screen in the 6 films is ultimate canon, period.
Secondary canon is the novelizations and other official performances (like the radio dramas) of the films. If anything in here contradicts the films, the films take precedence.
Third level canon is everything else - novels, comics, games and so on that covers events not seen in the films. They can take place during the same time periods and, where possible, try to squeeze themselves in as off-shoots of the films (Shadows Of The Empire), but that's it. This level is limited to two levels of canon override. It's canon provided it doesn't conflict with both the novelzations of the films AND the films themselves.
Fourth level is things that are designed to specifically NOT fit into the timeline, like Dark Horse's "Infinities" series, which is essentially an alternate universe version of the films. Luke died of his wounds inflicted by the Wampa, Han discovers he's Force Sensitive and takes on Luke's mission of re-building the Jedi...things like that.
Bottom line, stuff has to conform to the films and anything above it in the chain on the way to the films, not the other way around. If it used to and doesn't now for whatever reason (mostly an issue with Prequel-based stories), it's just taken out of the canon timeline until something new and compliant takes its place.
Matthew Green 03-14-2005, 01:41 AM Now the link has been deleted...Darn...
Zorro 03-14-2005, 02:00 AM Anybody see Lucas on "60 Minutes"? Interesting segment with lots of clips. I still think this installment is going to suck just as badly as the previous two.
