View Full Version : 5th Anniv MMs, black chrome.
32lowboy 03-07-2005, 10:40 PM Picked up a few at WM today, really nice, A purple GTO and red 69 Chevelle, the black/chrome looks mean!
I was kinda surprised to see them there so soon. Usually Hobby Lobby gets everything first but they havent had anything new in a while, are they still a MM dealer?
Dadvball 03-07-2005, 11:25 PM Are they supposed to be chase cars?
Can't answer your question on Hobby Lobby - they aren't around here.

No, the 5th Anniversary series has black chrome engines and wheels. They also have white letter tires.
They are very cool!
JDogg 03-08-2005, 11:45 PM Gotta get me some!!! I'm droolin' just thinkin' about 'em!!
NovaSS 03-09-2005, 08:28 AM I haven't seen 'em yet. I just hope Funline does not continue on and on with the 5-year Annv in relation to each series that came after these originals. I don't want feel like I have to duplicate my entire collection in black chrome and white lettered tires.
The 6-car liquid paint set looks like a winner though.

Dave_anto364 03-09-2005, 09:44 AM Nova SS,
Will they be making the hood scoop version also? I only like collecting the hood scoop versions.

I don't believe they will be doing hood scoop versions of these 6 cars. These cars are being done for the 5th anniversary and commemorate the 1st 6 cars that were done by MM. The scoop versions came out much later.
Although they may use these castings again with the scoop hood the cars probably won't have the black chrome wheels and the white letter tires.
Dave_anto364 03-09-2005, 12:55 PM Bummer on the hood scoops.
Pablodragon 03-09-2005, 07:05 PM found today at wally world...missed this one in this color first time around, so this is the only one I got...
...by the way, rang up at $2.74...good price? seems a little low...

GO-GTO 03-10-2005, 12:54 AM I found some at WM last Saturday. Couldn't resist. They are nice!
I like the packaging. Can't decide if I should open or leave packaged.

JDogg 03-10-2005, 01:17 AM I heard a rumor. Is it true that the wheels are plastic like Hot Wheels????
rlyoung1 03-10-2005, 11:10 AM I heard a rumor. Is it true that the wheels are plastic like Hot Wheels????
The wheels are plastic but the tires are rubber.
StreetFreak 03-10-2005, 03:18 PM I'd really like to get the two Camaros, but everyone of them that I've seen has poorly done deburring and paint finishing around the wheel wells.
I'm a little disappointed!
You would think that since these are Aniversary cars(costing more), and have those really nice lettered rubber wheels, that they would have provided a little better quality control.
rlyoung1 03-10-2005, 10:50 PM Mike, it's funny you would say that about the Camaros since 2 of mine had defects. The other 2 sold so fast I didn't get a chance to look at them.
streaker 03-11-2005, 08:55 AM Got the Corvette yestgerday at walmart and they had a grundle of others. :)

They were do to arrive at "Hobby Stores" only in February. I have not seen 'em yet. I would have to assume they meant 2005. ;)

 Very nice...
Supposed to have special paint...looking almost liquid-like..!
rlyoung1 03-13-2005, 01:04 PM I think I read on one of the other MM boards that they are on the water now.
JDogg 03-14-2005, 12:23 AM That is what I meant rlyoung. If the tires where plastic like hot wheels. Thank you for answering my question.
SiNutt 03-16-2005, 08:38 AM Picked up the 2 Camaros, the black GTO and the orange Chevelle this morning. And I don't collect MMs....(guess I need to check my Camaros, thanks Mike)

Hey SI... I finally found an acceptable Orange Camaro with decient fender wells (atleast on the shown side! :D). The White Camaro wasa total screwup...so I left it hangin!
Really like that lettered rubber!

So I went to my car at lunch and checked mine...yep, the fender wells look like crap on both the Camaros...guess I'll have to keep looking for these and exchange them if I do find some decent ones. Thanks for pointing that out, Mike. (or do I curse you for pointing it out! LOL!)
GO-GTO 03-17-2005, 01:31 AM I opened up a purple '66 GTO to use with my board game and found the wheel axels were crooked. It only rolls on one of the front wheels and the other one "free wheels" when rolling it. :( I tried to return it and the almost entire set of cars that were on the pegs the night before had already disappeared by lunch the next day. So I'm holding on to it and hoping I can eventually replace it.
The yellow 'cuda & blue mustang roll a little better, but you can tell that things with wheels are not totally aligned straight. The red 'vette and black GTO roll fine.
JDogg 03-17-2005, 02:20 PM Hmmmmmm. That's weird. Thanks for pointing that out GTO.
norsen 03-18-2005, 12:13 PM i havent even seen any or pegs either

Another set finally showed up at the other Wally nearby, but some were already gone. The wally-lady seemed surprised I was bringing one back for not rolling very well. Decided to trade it in for the purple Chevelle. It rolls much better.
pms485 03-25-2005, 02:50 PM Nice set. I have to admit, this is only the second time I have bought MMs. But, I bought all 12 at Meijer today. Really cool.
They finally showed at my Wallys, but there were only 5 left. I am going to have to get the others. They look even better set free and displayed
GO-GTO 04-04-2005, 03:42 PM A nearby WM has stocked 4 or 5 complete sets of the anniversary cars in the last week. There were even camaro peg warmers...but probably not for a long time.
NovaSS 04-08-2005, 02:27 PM Anybody see the 5th Annv 6-pack yet?
How about an online purchase? Any show up yet?
gregc 04-09-2005, 10:32 AM Anyone know the production numbers for the 5th Anniversary cars? Tks

Good questions. Don't know. But did pick up an orange Camaro today at Auto Zone.

I had the same problem. One Chevelle and one Cuda had casting defects and as quoted above, I sold the other 10 at the car show last weekend, so fast that I didn't have time to check them out:)
greeneyewolf23 05-01-2005, 12:09 PM I usually don't collect the MM's either but i found these 3 yesterday at a AZ on a hunt for JL's. Had to buy em these things are pretty sweet! I also was wondering about production #'s for these?? anyone??

shuckymomo 05-02-2005, 09:55 PM The only thing I don't like about these new ones is that the rear end is jacked up more in the back. When I get some, I'll have to let them free and lower the ass end down a little.

That's a common look for real muscle cars "back in the day". You had to use HiJackers, shackels or cut out your rear fender wells to keep the wider tires from rubbing. Cutting out the wells hurts the resale value of a real car thats highly collectible.
JDogg 05-03-2005, 11:00 PM SWEEEEEET cars wolf. not really crazy 'bout the purple one though. but i love that cuda!!!!!!

What I meant is that the rear ends are higher than the "original" ones...

Cars are getting so customized these days that they can look just about anyway a person can imagine if they're willing to spend the money and put up with the loss of practicality of a daily driver.
