It's that time again. March 20 at the Chicago-Matteson Holiday Inn at the intersection of US 30 (Sunday SUNDAY funny cars, Don Garlits Swamprat, Ramchargers.. sorry had a flashback) and I-57 from 10 AM to 2 PM. Adults $5 under 16 free.

If you like to plan far in advance the November show is on the 13th.

Hah!..."smokin US 30 dragstrip...where the great ones...ROCK, ROCK, ROCK..." I remember that!

Actually, up to a few years ago, one of my friends lived off of Route 30 in Montgomery IL, right next to the old dragstrip. It was a tree farm then, but I don't know what it is today. You could still see the concrete launch pad and strip from US 30, though it was dwarfed by the trees surrounding it. I should have taken a picture, it was eeire and sad. The reason was obvious why it was shut down. It sat up higher than the surrounding ground level and the decibal police raised a fuss and it everntually got shut down as the area turned into a suburban development. :cry:
