Hello guys. I own the Auto Art 1/18 DB5 with weapons. If anyone here has both the Auto Art and Ertl version, Could you explain any differences? Is one version better than the other? I am a big Bond fan and was wondering if I should pick the new version up. Regards, Mark

I love this new DB5. One thing I can't figure out. How exactly do you raise the bullet proof screen? Also, the license plate in the back rotates, but the one in the front is just a metal strip. When I tried to rotate it, it popped out. But the box clearly shows the front plate should rotate. Anyone else have these problems?

Nice looking car. Very nicely done. I do not own the Auto Art version but I am holding it for a person and would like to note some of the detail differences. The biggest difference the roof detail. Unless there is a roof panel somewhere in the box, the RC2 version wins in this area.

Another question but the RC2 line. I noted that the box art showed the Beanstalk groups Aston Martin Vanquish and Jaguar XK-R Bond cars. Did RC2 buy the rights to make these cars as well?

Yes. RC2 now has the Bond license and will be releasing the cars you mentioned, as well as the Mustang Mach I from Diamonds are Forever and the Lotus Esprit from The Spy Who Loved Me. Check out the tooling model on the Esprit. My jaw hung open when I saw the pics:

I'm wondering if RC2 is offering a pair of Lotus Esprits, or one car that transforms. How cool would THAT be?

If they put the same details in the other Bond releases as they did in the DB-5.............

I'll be very happy...........

BTW......................

Here is a pic of the trip for the bullet proof shield release........

Also all plates revolve, both front & back........

I guess there will be some defects with a bunch of small moving parts like these have

From the looks of the link you provided, it will be two different cars. This is the same way that Autoart did it. I think that it would be very difficult make the car do all that stuff.

In the movie, they had build special rigs to just do things like the wheel tucks and fins coming out. They where designed to work for about 30 seconds. It would nice if cars like that could somehow be made. Oh well, that is why they have movies like the Bond films to help escape reality for a while. :p
